At least we know one thing is for sure, 2009 can't be to bad of a year seeing as 2008 had about a billion sequels in it so maybe will will see some Intergalatic Space alien shooter RTS crossover thingies.

The Darkness, despite being universally rated as merely "Average" by most journalists, has earnt its spot in my top 5 Xbox 360 games ever list which I compile in my head. It's badass.

If your happy and you know wait for the next WoW expansion, check :D
The newest WoW expansion is another step towards getting rid of the grind... I was quite happy with the Death Knight class and the way it lets me skip those first 57 levels.

I have not played a single game I didn't like in 2008. That is about as positive as one can get.

Oh, and 2009 looks pretty awesome.

Bioshock: Sea of Dreams
Batman: Arkham Asylum
And Brutal freaking Legend, by Tim freaking Shafter. Ever since I played Psyconauts I have been so, so hyped for this one. Plus I love Jack Black. Hell Yeah!

Despite the fact that people rage quit 5 minutes after a versus match of L4D makes the game very annoying, and levels are somewhat repetitive the overall game play is still amazing in nearly every sense.
The joy of zombie genocide is matched only by the sadistic delight I experience every time I pounce someone as a hunter or drag a survivor off a roof as a smoker. And when the game lets me be the tank, the sheer fun of punching survivors 200 feet through the air never seems to get old.

Other surprises for me: Battlefield Bad Company. It was the first Battlefield I enjoyed playing, and even that ugly little EA splash screen didn't keep me from having fun. Along with that comes EA's Dead Space. It's not really scary and It's not really all that original but it certainly was quite a bit of fun.

[b\]I enjoy having casual sex.[/b]

That's really big on the upside, especially if you can get it often, and easily, by someone that doesn't have AIDS. But since this is a video game discussion forum:

I'm under the impression that Dawn of War II wont suck ass, made proof by the way it speeds down the road and into an ice cream truck because it takes after Company of Heroes, my favorite RTS. Needless to say, I hate my car, and love ice cream.

To appraise any other game would make me bored. I'll close with this:

Positive thinking: The next Half-Life episode will come out Summer '09 with something even more awesome than Portal.
Negative thinking: 2010 earliest (oops shouldn't have said that out loud on this thread, silly me!)

Positive thinking: I am ever hopeful that the Watchmen game is even half as great as the comic.
Negative thinking: It's a licence so will probably be worse than being poked in the eye with a pooh stick (Damn it, I can't seem to stop myself)

Positive thinking: Some decent hardcore games will come oput on the Wii this year
Negative thinking: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (ROFL LOL Gibbering like a monkey, OK I will leave now)

That bird-man thing that is speaking about its children is freaky!
Yeah, it's a pretty weird game; but it looks awesome.

I loved the parts of Assassin's Creed where I jump on my target, I hear the cool sound effect, and jam a spike into their throat. That was fun.

Guitar Hero World Tour was a pretty shameless rip-off of Rock Band, but it's the most competent one, and the setlist is still enjoyable, albeit rather easy.
But then again Rock Band was just a way to one up guitar hero anyway.

As far as I'm concerned all that stuff is a rip-off of donkey konga, and donkey kong jungle beat is just plain awsome. It make me feel like I have rhythm even though I know I don't.

All the frustrations I had with Prince of Persia's sticking controls, hand-holding gameplay and terrible combat were always silenced by how fucking pretty it is.
How exactly was the combat terrible?

And yes, the visuals pretty much squelched everything else.

He's probably referring to the rather deliberate button presses and general un-smoothness of combat. It is a good bit of fun and a lot of eye candy, but it's annoying to get anywhere in a combo and have your attack parried.
