Halo.
While Halo:CE was awesome, and 2 brought more to the table, Three wasn't really bad.

Sure, the story was bland, but lets look at it this way.

The multiplayer is awesome, and Forge was made and Theater, and look at Bungie.
Bungie is one of the FEW game companies that actually care, you can tell by the quality of the stuff they give out, maps, games, etc.

All the frustrations I had with Prince of Persia's sticking controls, hand-holding gameplay and terrible combat were always silenced by how fucking pretty it is.
How exactly was the combat terrible?

And yes, the visuals pretty much squelched everything else.
I guess it wasn't "terrible" per se, but I found it to be frustrating and sticky. But enough about that, this is a positive thread, not a thread about negative things.

Guitar Hero World Tour was a pretty shameless rip-off of Rock Band, but it's the most competent one, and the setlist is still enjoyable, albeit rather easy.
But then again Rock Band was just a way to one up guitar hero anyway.
The important part is that it worked.

As far as I'm concerned all that stuff is a rip-off of donkey konga, and donkey kong jungle beat is just plain awsome. It make me feel like I have rhythm even though I know I don't.
All that stuff being just Guitar Hero, or all rhythm games in general? 'Cause I'd hate to burst your bubble by telling you that there were rhythm games before that.

A positive thread? Nice. The cake is NOT a lie in here. (That's right, another "cake is a lie" joke on the internet. I'm lame like that.)

For games of this past year, Call of Duty World at War wasn't as good as I had hoped, but wasn't bad in my humble opinion. It was nice to see a World War 2 game that was a little different from the ones I've played before. I addmitedly haven't played that many though, so I can't say I have "oodles" to compare it to.

And for 2009....

Although the co-op was taken out, Prototype was at risk of being completely dropped, and it wasn't, which makes me happy, because I am looking forward to tearing up a city with some crazy powers.

F.E.A.R. 2 has me wondering how good it'll be, but I'm still looking forward to it.

And Arkam Asylum also looks like it's gonna be pretty cool. Fingers crossed on that one. Hope it doesn't get messed up somehow.

I haven't found any games I really enjoyed on the Wii but it's a great console. I especially like the virtual console, I am playing 'Link to the Past' right now and I haven't had so much fun in a long time.

I hope from all the money they make of these casual games that they will use it to make some 'real' games later!

OK, so Brawl had horrid gameplay but if you don't take the game seriously in anyway it can be very fun with your mates! The stage editor, remixed music, classic game demo's, character selection and the Smash Ball are also very entertaining.

Super Mario Galaxy wasn't as great as Mario 64 but it was definitely a very fun game, I say probably the best game on the Wii.

Metroid Prime 3 wasn't as great as the first 2 but it's still a great FPS.

Sonic Unleashed has alot of crappy game elements and I personally disliked the Werehog levels but with out those it is close to perfect. I still reckon Knuckles should be in it.

I could go on but thats enough. I hope this is positive enough because it was very hard!

I'll disagree. The setlist was the worst one yet. In an attempt to make it a) Accesible to everyone and b) to make sure that all parts were fun to play, they completely killed the formula.
I still think that Rocks The 80s had the best setlist.

I couldn't imagine going back to Black-Hole-For-Social-Life.

Right, Positive. Left4Dead. By far the best game I've played in a long time. Hell, I can't think of anything bad to say about it. Get 3 friends on Steam (I live with one, so that's simple enough) and go pummel a level. We're getting good now :p

I have great hopes for Batman: Arkham Asylum. There have only been two Batman games I can think of that were worth playing: Batman for the original NES and (although I hate to admit it, even to myself) Lego Batman. It's such a shame when a great character/story is made into yet another ultra-crappy game. Especially when it's Batman. Here's hoping!

The setlist definitely wasn't the best, but you can't say no to Hotel California.

Oh, of course, I loved Hotel California, Livin' On A Prayer, Sweet Home Alabama, Up Around The Bend and Are You Gonna Go My Way (yes, I'm a sucker for old tunes), but it's a pity that such amazing songs share the same game as others (I mean, Pat Benatar's got two songs, one in GH3, one in WT, but there's no sign of Led Zeppelin yet)
