Honestly? When push comes to shove, you gotta do what you love, even if it's not a good idea.

Everyone who says your going to die is a pansy. Don't listen to them, it's good to fight for what you believe in.
UK army I think all there deaths right now come from natural causes but I live in america I'll never join because they practically prepare you to die in the army here with the small small training, crap armor on vehicles, no control among troops, and they throw you in a country to police a area with killers wanting you dead, etc.
You know, if that wasn't as epic, I would call you insane. Right now the Void Dragon is asleep, on Mars. When he awakens though it will be the death toll of the Imperium.
He is the most powerful C'tan of them all.
The three remaining C'tans are:
Nightbringer (we would know him as the grim reaper)
The Deceiver (a trickster)
The Outsider (an insane god that has eaten too many C'tan)
I am also considering joining the army, and I have also recieved a similar response. I really think that it is quite negative.
Well, you probably won't die, and "do what you want to do" is all very good advice.
However, keep in mind that the escapist doesn't know you and probably won't even notice if you stop posting, whereas the people crying 'nooo, you'll dieeee!' are probably your friends and family. So, while there is a good chance you won't die, they are the ones who will actually notice if you do.

All I can say, and this may seem a little dark but: Don't go into the military thinking you'll die, at the same time don't go into the military thinking there is no way you will die.
Do what you want, it's your life. Everyone dies at some point, at least if you do die, it'll be from combat, instead of choking on a particularly fatty piece of steak...
