Well that's what the Masked Man would wear with his Phantom of the Opera mask, everyone knows the ladies love a mysterious man

Delayed by phone call said:
So I have this two page long step-by-step instruction email for a common problem we run into that includes the following step (roughly):

Code:
2. Select the failed batch to highlight it, then click 'Re-post' to resend the data.
[small](FYI - There are three big buttons to choose from on this particular window, one says Re-post Batch, one says Delete Batch, and one says Refresh. It's not rocket science.)[/small]

*Client calls me*

Client: It didn't work.
Me: Did you follow the instructions.
Client. Yes.

[I have him pull up the instruction email and prepare to walk him through the steps.]
[We get to this step]

Client: So I hit delete, right?
Me: *pause* No, you need to hit Repost.
Client: Oh...*pause* Okay.
Me: *headdesk*

*5 minutes later when the data is resent*

Me: It's fixed.

*sigh*

Subject M2, In the end I found he actually needed to re-post two things instead of one, but still...it's the one step no-one has ever had a problem with. Until now. Thankfully the data regenerated and wasn't actually lost.

Subject RB, that is why I wouldn't make a good ANY support. I'd be too tempted to call them idiots.

Subject M2, I grew up being the 'tech person' in my family so I'm used to having to be careful and spelling things out.

Subject LITV, I know. And usually people aren't so bad. But every now and then...

The stories do make for interesting team-lunches though.

Subject RB, I'm quite aware of what that's like. I plan to make a flowchart for my family similar to the one in xkcd.

Subject RB those are the ones that stick with you too. You can have a day that's all good customers and after one bad one your day is shot

Subject RB, it's gotten to the point where they think I have a bond with technology and can instantly hook anything up or solve any problem.

*Waves at Subject Sas*

Subject M2, I used to get that but now days I'm pretty quick to say if something's outside my realm. My default then is usually 'well have you Googled it?' xD

Ah Subject Sass everyone loves that game, I'm terrible at FPS's though, only one I am good at is Halo and that's only because I sunk an ungodly amount of time into that game as a kid. I'm more of an RPG type myself.

Subject Lost, I'm fairly good at Halo, normally getting a few medals and more often ten not, a decent K/D ratio. Only real problem is the rage quitters. Although being in a two on four and a one on three, both times being on the side with lesser players is really good fun.

Subject LITV, I noticed. And also, I too prefer RPGs. One of my all time favorites was Chrono Cross.

Subject Lost, I saw that as well. I only skimmed it briefly, though.
