"I won't have it. I simply won't!"
"C'mon Sharrow, you have to wear something. I know you only want to wear the coat, but-"
"No buts! I like the coat, and I don't see why I need anything else. I won't even be going outside, so don't you say I'll get cold!"
The orderly sighed, then gave a small smile, "You know, Miss Geraldine won't be happy. She loves a man who wears a good pair of trousers..."
Immediately, Sharrow blushed, "Do you think so? I'd better find a pair.." he glanced round the empty, padded cell, "You haven't got any I could, ah, borrow, have you? Quick give me yours!"
The orderly grinned, and opened the bag he was carrying, "No worries, Sharrow; I brought these specially. I knew you might want a pair so as Miss G would be happy with you"
Sharrow snatched the trousers away and began pulling them on, entirely unselfconscious of the man standing next to him. The orderly, in turn, was unphased; Sharrow had singled him out as his favourite of the staff when he had first arrived, and had long grown accustomed to Sharrow's habits
Sharrow straightened up, beaming, "David, I don't know what I'd do without you. I value your advice, you know." he glanced toward the cell door, his smile replaced by a worried frown, "I fear their plans progress while I remain here. Are you sure this is still the safest place to be? The gentleman needs to be protected from his enemies..."
"Certainly, Boss" said David gravely. he recognised the shift in Sharrow's mood, and changed his behaviour accordingly, "We'd best head for the canteen. The gentleman needs a proper breakfast"
"Of course," said Sharrow, all smiles once more, "What an excellent idea. I just remembered that I'm ever so hungry! Do you think Miss Geraldine will be eating about now"
---
Sharrow looked round the canteen, and sighed. The slop the cook had just handed him was sure to be poisoned, but David would sort it out; it was wonderful what manservant's could do these days. Unfortunately, Miss Geraldine was not to be seen; most certainly she was busy working at.. whatever it was she did. Sharrow sighed again; Miss G had such a fine mind
Looking around for alternate company, his eyes rested on a short dark haired resident. He recognised her... Kim-ko, or something like that?
Moving to her table, He sat down smoothly and smiled, "Good morning, Kim-ko. Have you checked your meal for poisons? I'm sure David can make sure you'll be safe"
