I like Belle and Sebastian's early and middle stuff a lot more than I like their new stuff. I can listen to "The Life Pursuit," but it's not nearly as good as "The Boy With The Arab Strap" and "Tigermilk."

I was disappointed with Apostle of Hustle's second album, but again, it's listenable; I just wish it was still the bass-and-percussion-heavy blues that the first album was instead of the lighter, pop sort of thing they have going.

The only band that's really disappointed me, though, is Mogwai. I love post-rock, though I've never really liked Mogwai all that much; they're too wanky and repetitive for my taste. Having said that, Mr. Beast is a high quality album. When I saw a new one called Zidane sitting on the shelf, and saw that it was apparently a soundtrack that they'd written for the world cup, I thought, "that's an interesting concept for an album," and picked it up. It was the most boring shit I've ever listened to.

I also have to disagree with the poster on the last page who apparently thinks that every post-rock band sounds identical to Red Sparowes and Godspeed, You! Black Emperor. There are plenty of post-rock bands out there with a unique sound - three off the top of my head would be Explosions in the Sky, Yndi Halda, and Do Make Say Think.

The Streets - what the hell happened to Skinner after "A Grand Don't Come for Free"?
Tapes 'n Tapes, The Long Blondes and The Sounds - their second albums are horrible

Life of Agony. River Runs Red a& Ugly were absolute classics. Ugly being a particularly important album for me. Soul Searching Sun had it's moments but was a bit too polished and bland. Then they split up. At least they do so on a reletive high.

Then they reformed and gave us Broken Valley....

WTF!!!

When you put it that way, yeah you have a point. Linkin Park did come a little too late and sounds a lot like Green Day in that aspect. Most bands don't really have more to say than "I hate America". Reality: America is what has made you famous and America is what bought your billion dollar home and 5 cars. If you want to make a statement that really means something I would like to see you living in an average home, have an average car and helping out people less fortunate than yourself.
Then again Rage is out protesting while LP and GD are sitting in their comfy sofas watching the protest on TV
And Rage sound just as furious now as they did back then. They have a tonne more conviction than half the bands pushing the political bandwagon at the moment.

Oh, and Korn just keep finding ways to stop me from getting back into them again. I used to love them but things got a bit shakey with Follow The Leader and then I simply grew out of them.
