Perfect Dark 64 sits at the top of my list. The bot personalities for multiplayer were loads of fun. You vs 8 Dark level Peace Simulants? Good luck killing anything.

Far as single player experiences go, Doom 2 is one of my other all time favorites. When I bought Doom 3 (for 10$), I did it mostly because it would allow me to replay Dooms 1 and 2 with my brother.

I like it as a fun old school shooter, but not enough to put it in my top five. The stealth level is not something I will easily forget or forgive.

Half-Life 2.

I loved everything about it, from the graphics, storyline, characters.

It's really a game which I get immersed in greatly, I have played through it countless times and always have fun.

It is my most loved storyline out of any game, it's just perfect for me in every way.

Bioshock had a storyline far better and more engrosing than something like for e.g. call of duty and the gameplay was very well made. The charaters were someintes annoying but overall they were very good and the enemys were just amazing. The only thing that it lacked was multiplayer but that could have ruiend it so I don't know if that is bad or not.
System Shock.
It started alot of conventions that are still to this day used in modern pc games.
The story was amazing despite being only told through videologs and notes.

Halo 2, I knew I had to pick Halo and I've decided that with all the extra multiplayer editions and the great single player that let me play as the Arbiter... that's my favorite.

Also, must give mention to Bioshock. Loved that game.

Its hard...Goldeneye 007 was the 1st fps that became something that you get ur mates over to play.

However, its no longer the best fps. I think Valve FPS's reign supreme, that or the original Halo.

Well, personally I'm split between two choices:
The Resistance series is awesome for being generic in gameplay but brilliant in action and design. They've got the most creative weapons: guns that shoot through walls and project shields, guns that shoot out tags that make the other bullets home in on one place, guns that shoot out homing buzzsaws that swarm the enemy, grenades that release gas and ignite them upon your command, and a pistol that shoots out explosives that you can detonate on command. It's just so much more fun playing the game when you are given a couple dozen unique guns rather than just 50 stat adjustments to the same 4 types of guns you've already used in every other game since Wolfenstein.

Timesplitters 2 is great because there's more to it than "get through this huge enemy-filled area alive, kill these things, get back out alive." For example: a spot with invincible golems in a jungle temple. Your weapons can't kill them, but there are pressure plates around the temple that open up trapdoors leading to spike pits, so you have to lead them over the pits and drop them in. There's plenty more to it and all, and the other thing that's cool is that there's a huge variety of levels. There's a level in prohibition-era chicago, one in Soviet Russia, one on a futuristic planet, one in the aforementioned jungle temple, and plenty more. All of the levels have a wide variety of era-appropriate weaponry, as well as their own creative backstories. All of it is tied together seamlessly to the main story, of course. All in all, it's best for its story creativity, its wide array of experiences, and its use of gameplay elements other than just direct combat.

James Bond: Everything or Nothing. The target lock feature was a vast improvement over other FPS's, which insist upon you having to awkwardly move a very sensitive thing around to shoot something. Control sticks and mouses are too small an area of movement for a much larger movement on screen, that's why target locking is far superior. And the game was still challenging.

It's a tossup between Golden Eye, Perfect Dark, Star Wars Battlefront 2, or Bioshock.

The trouble with "best" threads is it's really more a matter of, "best in what way."

However, if I had to take a stab at it, I'd go with this guy:

Speaking of Malkavians, #3 would be Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines.

Yesssssss. Then the modders got at it and improved it even more. I played it on 56k and still enjoyed the hell out of it. Halo also copied the hell out of it with the most recent Reach.

But I can't count it as best...that honor belongs to half-life and it's SDK. My half-life 1 and 2 folder is 390 GIGS.

Yeah, if you are blind, have cerebral palsy, or use your mouse on a gravel bed.
