I think it would be good to mention Okami, not only it has a great ending, but the credits section makes you remember all the great moments on the long journey.

The first game that jumps into my head is Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
It was kind of a sad ending but made the story complete.
The sequels to it were farfetched in my opinion and not really needed, storywise.
I'm surprised that them being far-fetched is an issue when we consider Sands of Time is based around a man who kills zombies made of sand and then absorbs them with his dagger which can also freeze and reverse time.

Any game that doesn't scream "sequel" has a good ending in my eyes, though.
Agreed, the best endings are ones that actually, y'know, end.

Personally, I loved the ending for Resident Evil 4, jetskiing out of an exploding island has always been one of my preferred ways to round off a day.
Having said that though, I can't really remember what happened after that... Possibly it just didn't compare to jetskiing out of an exploding island enough to be memorable.

I liked the hidden ending in the expanded version of "Kingdom Hearts 2" because it's pure awesome. I also liked the ending to PoP: The Sands of Time, and PoP: The Two Thrones.

Thanks jerk off i wasn't posting it as a question it would be like me saying why don't you F%%% off. Its not a question so much as a suggestion (yes this if for you nilcypher why don't you contribute instead of acting like a two year old correcting everyone, this thread is for gamers who want to have a good time and contribute not losers who insult people.
Be that as it may, there is a difference between insults and criticism. I can see how your initial post could be interpreted as a question since you used the inquisitive "why" in the sentence. I'm actually a bit torn on this issue, while the sentence is in the format of the question, one could see it as an alternative way of saying "Now, let us talk about the best game endings."

I think we should vote on the question mark, does it belong at the end of that sentence or not?

I vote for the period, otherwise we would all have to answer the question "why not talk about this?" with replies like "I don't talk about good endings because they make me unhappy." and everyone would be confused.

(Oh yeah, another ending I liked was COD 4, for me the game ended when the American character died, I enjoyed the rest, but that was a good story ending; "...and he did not live happily ever after, the end.")
I agree no question mark. He telling everyone let's talk about this.
I think it's an imperative sentence because he is kind of telling us everyone talk about it.
The original sentence is correct.

Final Fantasy VII, but the developpers got Nintendo syndrome (Wacking game too much).
Ogre battle 64 had two good endings
Warcraft 3 and expansion had good endings.... but Wow came and ruined any chance of another rts for warcraft.

How has noone said Final Fantasy VIII yet? I can understand if you like other Final Fantasy games more than VIII, but it had the best ending out of the entire series.

No, actually, it's not.
After about eight years of grammar lessons and two English high school courses, I have to say, as TheIceFace stated, by using "why", it is definitely a question.

I hated the junction system and didn't like the overall story as much as other FF's but that was a good ending, and the party at the end was fun fan fluff that I wish more game devs would include.

Oh yeah, FFVI, another excellent FF ending.

I agree with Joshie, FF8 definately had the better ending than other final fantasies. Due to there being no random-ass boss added on with next to no storyline significance (e.g FF9 being the biggest example). MGS4 was a good ending but... was it just me or did it almost look like they randomly added the bit after the wedding? (i dont know how to do spoiler tags so ill just be vague as possible XD) Shadow of Colossus had a pretty weird ending too... Call of Duty 4 was pretty good apart from the plane bit, that was needless! The Heavenly Sword one was quite good too.

WoW definitely has the best ending ever, haha.

I liked Portal's ending. It had adrenaline pumping through me for a good hour, then shows that you sacrificed yourself to win. Another ending like that was in Half-Life 2, but that ends on such a bad note, and so suddenly, it's a little jarring, but it drove me to play the rest of the series.

Half Life 2 ended a bit like an Alfred Hitchcock film, so I liked it. I'm sure that Episode 3 will confirm it's awesomeness, and also that G-Man gets his.

the end of Bionic Commando where hitler says, "you damn fool!!" and then his head explodes. That was awesome.

I like that idea billy-j!

You know, I kind of liked the ending to The World Ends With You, it was a bit weird, but had an odd likable feeling, that's just me though.

i'd say the best ending in a game would have to be mass effect, my second choice would be portal

I probably would have said something like Final Fantasy VII or Final Fantasy VIII, but I haven't played either game since I was too young to remember things like that. Sorry ; ;
