My GOTD is Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4. No game I've ever played has done so many things right or kept me as engaged as P4 has.

Mass Effect. It had a few flaws - like the side quests and inventory system - but it is my favourite game of the decade, and possibly my favourite game of all time.

It would take far too long for me to go bakc and check over game releases for the last decade, so I'm just gonna put my flamesuit on and say Halo. Love it or hate it, it's fucking *popular* and spawned several games spanning genres, shows like "Red Versus Blue", and is expanding into a huge lore-filled universe.

My personal favorite though? Eh.. I don't even know. Going by playtime, it'd probably be WoW. /cringe

Well, Baldur's Gate 2 was released in 2000 and Dragon Age: Origins in 2009, so they both fit...

Some other games worth considering would be Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Portal, maybe Beyond Good & Evil. And you shouldn't forget World of Warcraft, you can argue whether it is the best quality-wise, but you cannot deny it the immense lasting popularity.

But you know what? I say Planescape: Torment. Sue me.

I make that 10 years therefore decade or is that wrong?

Win.
It's wrong since you started counting from the wrong year.

Moving along, the game of the decade is Deus Ex. No other game managed to match this game's sheer level of depth and groundbreaking RPG capabilities. Kill whoever you want, play the game however you want, the game just keeps on going and adjusts accordingly. It's a damn shame that most everyone's opinion is based only on the last few years though since those are the freshest in their memory. The games of the first part of the decade were way better for the most part.

You start by saying that 2000 isn't part of this decade (which is correct), and then say that the best game of the decade was one that was released in 2000. Oh dear.

I've probably spent most of my time playing CS:S, Rise Of Nations, Titan Quest and Fallout 3. So that'll be those. All combined or something as I can't make my mind.

Was Deus Ex released in 2000? *double checks* Oh hey it was. Cut me some slack, that was 10 years ago >.> Well, then in that case I'm arbitrarily going with Devil May Cry 3, soley because no other brawler has gotten even close to it, and let's face it nothing released this decade was actually all that fantastic. All the good shit seems to have come out in the late 90s.

Best on time played for me would be WoW and Dragon Age. Based on shear fun, Assassin Creed the Second.

If it makes it any better I agree with you about Deus Ex being an amazing game and about the late 90's being awesome (at least for RPGs).

Championship Manager 03-04.

Low profile and unassuming but nevertheless addictive.

Honourable mentions: COD4, Timesplitters Future Perfect, Guitar Hero II.

Tean Fortress 2 for the PC.

I don't think I ever had so much fun or spent so much time on any other game. A shame I stoped playing after the whole hat thing came in. It was also my first adventure into the world of online gameing.

Honourable mentions go out to:

GTA 4, Fallout 3, Comapny Of heros, Halo, Cod 4

Shadow of the Colossus takes my critically reviewed number one spot with Pokemon S/G as close seconds with Halo: Combat Evolved taking the bronze.
