Depends on your classification of 'violent'...

But lets go with... Yeah okay, Cooking Mama.

Yeah I was THAT desperate for somthing original. And it probably isn't I only looked at page 1.

Tetris, Peggle, or Flower

While the former two are simply shining examples of simple, fun games, The latter is a beautiful, fun experience that's unlike most anything on the market today.

Hold it!

I can't believe no one's mentioned the ace attorney games, I've been recently playing Miles Edgeworth: Investigations, and it's reignited my love for the series. Those are awesome games, and everything is done through talking, examining and presenting.

Come to think of it, every point-and-click adventure game ever, except for Full Throttle, the Indy games and maybe some other ones.
It's really surprising only one person has mentioned Monkey Island, and no one's mentioned Loom, Beneath a Steel Sky, Day of the Tentacle, hell even Yahtzee's games are awesome.

Idunno, maybe flower? and the guitar hero/rockband games?
memory games?
I saw someone mention Scrabble too...

EDIT: you die in LBP but I wouldn't say it's that violent, I mean there's "violence" in almost every game. or maybe Peggle... (but the balls hit the pegs so violently!)

Tetris. Despite what Andantil states, chess is actually pretty violent when you think about it.

EDIT: $%#^#!!! What is up with the dang ninja's recently?!
Sounds as though somebody has played the old pc game where the pieces came to life and stabbed/clubbed and various versions of plain out whacking each other.

Phoenix wright doesnt have much violence in it as most of the dead people are already dead when you meet them.

Cooking guide for the ds. not really a game but on a game platform so im claiming it hah

Ummmm. Wii Sports? It is pretty fun, even if it's barely a game. Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon, have both of them. Somehow very very fun. Guitar Hero wins though.

Myst was also a good series.
This guys. Myst III: Exile and Myst IV: Revelation specifically, although there are one or two cut scenes with suggestive violence I think, but still awesome games.

Runs on any platform that supports Flash and on the iPhone.

There are beefed up versions for the PSP and the PS3.

Braid if you want something made more recent. If not, I'd just stick to puzzle/gambling games.

And if you like music, Audiosurf and Raycatcher are really fun.
