Now, I don't no about you, but there are some games that are universally praised that I just don't like. Something never clicked. But, I can acknowledge that they're good games, they have excellant graphics, physics, or storylines. Maybe they even have good gameplay, just not a style you like.

Mine would be Gears of War, the first one (I think, it was at a friend's house) and Halo 3.

Gears had a design that I didn't particularily care for, what with the huge character models. The enemies were far too durable for my tastes and some of the weapons sounded weird (pew pew esque).

I liked Halo 2 when I played it at a friends house, the campaign was fun and the weaponds satisfying. I played multiplayer only in the form of splitscreen, and only with rocket launchers (my friend's rule). Halo 3 I only played multiplayer, and I hated it. Every other weapon was a horrible sounding lazer, and all the good weapons were hidden throughout the map, a mechanic I hate. Also, I hadn't realised how fucking durable enemies were in multi, it was horrible! At least in Gears they kind of shuddered and stuff, you knew you were hitting them. Not int Halo.

But, it was a great game. I had fun at times, and the basic controls were excellent.

So what games do you hate (but know are actually pretty good).

I know how good Bioshock is and I can see why people like it. It has a good atmosphere and very decent gameplay. But personally, I just can't stand it, plain and simple. I don't know why.

Mass Effect. I know, blasphemy but.. I just don't like it, and I really can't get into it.
I will agree with you here, the idea, the storyline - I quite liked when I read about it/watched videos, but I absolutely hated the combat and found it repetitive and dull!

Mine has got to be Halo. I just... guh... I don't even... WHY!? I've tried and tried, played a few of the games, but I just can't find one that agrees with me.

I'm in the middle of playing the first God of War, and, call me crazy, but I don't like it that much.
I can see it's appeal, I guess. You click button, monster go bye bye. I just haven't been able to get into it.

Dragon Age, oh how I hate thee. And the thing is, I love fantasy RPG's; but that game just filled me with aggravation. I think it was because you as the main character seem so bland, dry and stereotypical.

Mine would Halo 3.
Not to discredit what you said, but I regularly hear about people that don't like Halo 3.

And on topic, I don't really like inFamous. It just was so shallow in pretty much everything except item gathering (fuck those shards).

Dragon Age: Origins

I bought this game because I loved Mass Effect and Bioware make great games. This was a great game - so the hype will tell you.

I just can't stand the controls or anything about how the game is played!

Also anything Final Fantasy, I would love to like the franchice but I can't stand turn-based combat either!

At the moment the one game that really pops into my mind is MW2. The single player was awfull and the multiplayer ended up annoying me rather then haveing fun.

I couldn't stand Braid. After getting it and playing about 20 minutes, I was pissed for wasting $15 on it, actually it would be overpriced as a $1 indie game. I swear everyone who hyped it up as a great game played a different game than me.

Well now you have! I agree with you, but only about Halo. But yes, Halo, was just really generic to me. There was one bit I did kinda like, which was landing in a drop ship with loads of marines, and taking on a beach of aliens. Landing, getting shot at, finding cover, and then pushing up the beach; yeah that was cool, kinda made me think of something like Starship Troopers. But that was it; other than that, really bland.

Oh, I played through the game, atleast 75% or so around, before I quit. AC2 was fun, but they made wrong game-design decision, like lack of 'flying' but had a crappy 'house' system instead.

So yeah, they're all good, and I tried to play through them, but somethings just kill me.

Mass Effect.
To me it was just "Move from one uninteresting conversation to the other."

People say that the second one is way better.
I'll pick it up once it hits the bargain bin.
