Now, I don't no about you, but there are some games that are universally praised that I just don't like. Something never clicked. But, I can acknowledge that they're good games, they have excellant graphics, physics, or storylines. Maybe they even have good gameplay, just not a style you like.
Mine would be Gears of War, the first one (I think, it was at a friend's house) and Halo 3.
Gears had a design that I didn't particularily care for, what with the huge character models. The enemies were far too durable for my tastes and some of the weapons sounded weird (pew pew esque).
I liked Halo 2 when I played it at a friends house, the campaign was fun and the weaponds satisfying. I played multiplayer only in the form of splitscreen, and only with rocket launchers (my friend's rule). Halo 3 I only played multiplayer, and I hated it. Every other weapon was a horrible sounding lazer, and all the good weapons were hidden throughout the map, a mechanic I hate. Also, I hadn't realised how fucking durable enemies were in multi, it was horrible! At least in Gears they kind of shuddered and stuff, you knew you were hitting them. Not int Halo.
But, it was a great game. I had fun at times, and the basic controls were excellent.
So what games do you hate (but know are actually pretty good).
