Sacrifice, by Shiny. A game about extremely strange looking wizards and grotesque creatures dueling it out on floating islands in the name of five very different gods. One of my favorite games of all time, due largely to the fantastic level editor... And I've only ever met two people who played it.
Also, SkullMonkeys, Red Dead Revolver, and -to a lesser extent- Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.
Red Dead revolver...an amazing game. I recently tried going through it again (backwards compatability!) and could NOT get past the mine level :/
I doubt I'd be able to complete it anyway, Way back when I only got to the end because I used a invulnerability cheat, still failed it anyway, damn NPC's dying :/.

But yes, that was a gem of a game :)
... huh. I recently bought it again and thought it was easier than last time. Especially the duels. I got to Mister Kelly and was worried I'd have to fight him a hundred times before I won, but I outdrew him on my first attempt. A few of the levels are really fucking hard though, like the bridge in Mexico and the Govenor's Mansion.

Croc was awesome I played the first and second one.
I loved the first one. I got a PC version a while ago. It was great, though for some reason the music didn't work, which really pissed me off because the game has terrific music. I also played the second one, though I don't remember much about it.

Robotech: Battlecry. I don't know why people said it was mediocre. The transformations were actually useful.

Psychonauts.
Since game has been elevated to something beyond a cult classic I think your kind of missing the point.

The only one I can think of is possibley Sphinx and the Curse of the Mummy. The levels played as Sphinx where like Zelda while the Mummy levels where cool puzzle games. The Mummy was unable to die meaning you could main and harm yourself to activate different parts of a level included cutting yourself into separet sections, flattening yourself till your paper thin, setting yourself on fire, electructing yourself ect. It was a clever idea.

I also have to agree with Croc, that was one the earliest games I ever played.

Yeah Croc was good at least they didn't turn him into a green Spyro and Crash

Before 2008 I was the only person in my town with any Fallout game.

Comparatively few people know of this addictive little game... but honestly no one (even game devs) are honestly going to be able to answer the thread title.

I'll chip in again with Silent Bomber. It's a great PS1 action game where your character has these bomb-launcher things attached to his arms, and attacks by attaching bombs to enemies and detonating them.
Yes! I was just about to mention this game actually, but yeah. The only other guy I've met who's played it was the guy in the GAME where I bought my pre-owned copy. Amazing gameplay, never seen anything quite like it.

Also is Touhou really a game series that no-one's heard of? It's pretty much the most famous up-scrolling shooter and probably has one of the largest and most enthusiastic fanbases of any small game franchise.

Also woo for Tombi :)
