I don't know what style it is, but this is what I have:

I don't care if it looks good, it keeps the sun out of my eyes and my neck sunburn free. I tend to dislike the feeling of sun screen so yeah.

Same reason I wear light-fabric long sleeves during the summer. Still nice and cool while keeping me sunburn free.

I used to have a pith helmet in the French style, but it's quality wasn't nearly what I expected and a combination of backpacking trips and everyday wear and tear kind of...broke it.

Figure it's better to have a hat that I can smush into my luggage if need be, the Pith was a hassle to go through airports with.

Meh, the only hat I ever wore the most is the cap as it's more pratical to me than going for style points.

Wearing a fedora is going to make you look like a socially awkward neckbeard. Please don't do it.
My full and badass beard wishes to convey some disagreement on the subject of hats somehow equating to neckbeard. Fedoras are a sign of class and style dating back to...well...their initial deployment.

Indiana Jones wears a fedora.

Tom Baker's worn a fedora as the Doctor.

Neil Gaiman's Anansi wears a fedora.

The Spirit, Rorschach, and other trenchcoat heroes wear them, including Canada's greatest super hero, the Red Panda!

Shotarou from Kamen Rider Double has a whole collection and so did his mentor.

Also found in Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

I wear a fedora now. Fedoras are cool.

Odds are you don't look like Don Draper or Indiana Jones, sorry. The only acceptable time to wear a fedora is with a suit (PROTIP: the situation must actually call for a suit), and even then it's iffy. I've seen a fedora look good on exactly 1 person in real life, and he was a very handsome, physically fit and obviously well-to-do fifty-something businessman. Otherwise I only ever seen them on nerds who dress like complete shit, as if the fedora is going to make their video-game t-shirt and dad-jeans ensemble look real classy.

I'm only being harsh because I care <3
I love my fedora but I gotta agree. Unless I'm wearing a suit[granted I wear a suit nearly everyday including days off], and its raining, I generally keep it stored on that hat rack.

I like these kind of hats I don't know what they are called though. Soft caps?

I suit them. Also I like fatigue hats I think they are cool.

I like a tall man in a trilby also. It's very handsome. :)

Back in the olden days, everyone wore hats. Those were good times. Nowadays you can only wear them if you're a redneck (ball caps and stetsons) or a hipster (trilby/fedora/ascot cap). Sigh...
But yeah, Trilbies are cool. but since everyone else has already said that, how about a Boater? They look good on barbershop quartets :)

I am wearing a Trilby, although I do like Fedoras and Top hats.

Stupid thing that wearing certain type of hat instantly means you are "X or Y"

Hats need to get back in fashion, cause classy.

So we all have our favorite kind of hat be it classy, silly or just plain weird. Mine happens to be the fedora It looks classy, makes any suit look that much better and I think it makes playing jazz piano that much more awesome.

So my fellow escapists what happens to be your favorite hat? There are (almost) no wrong answers :p

Captcha: Saucy! Yes captcha I do think fedora's make me look saucy
hat to burst your bubble but thats a picture of a trilby not a fedora, a fedora has a larger brim.
sorry to be a pedant but hats are IMPORTANT!

trilbys are the best hats though.

I Just can't help but be reminded of this photo. I'd like to dress up and try on some hats some day though!

Yeah I see that now. I appreciate the clarification but i also have another question.

Why is it that nowhere has a place you can put your hat anymore. Restaurants, homes anything really. Its almost as if society is trying to prevent us from going out with hats on.

Cowboy hat. Hands down...

Then again, I grew up and live in Texas. I actually have a use for it (or at least used to before college, and not living on a farm anymore.)

I love my trilby that I managed to get a few weeks ago after I spent about five years trying to find one that fit me although I did find my favourite cap last week when I was tidying my room as well

Fedoras and/or Stetsons. I like the looks of both of them and they cover both your face and the back of your neck.

I'll go with my good old black beanie hat with "No Fear" branded on one side in silver and purple, I swear I can't leave the house without it anymore it's like my straw hat or something.

IT's to prevent fiends and vagabonds from stealing your hat, or confusing it for another gentleman with similar tastes.

The change was implemented universally after the 4000% spike in hat-cenrtic crime at the end of the 60's.

Doesn't Yahtzee wear a Fedora? He seems to make it work. So that's two people who look good wearing one.
