Also, I loved the bridge in Half Life 2.
So atmospheric and un-nerving. It stood out for me too. Especially the quiet parts with no enemies
Definitely agreed, the quiet foggy ocean atmosphere that was great for most of Highway 17 just peaked incredibly there, not to mention the beauty of the bridge itself. Of course, combat on the bridge was also rather fun.
Nicely put.

It's sometimes the quietest moments thayt stand out the most 'All Ghillied up for example'

The battle against the combine gunships felt fiar and challenging in that bridge scene.

Unlike that bastard hard fight outside Nova Prospect.

Oh holy crap was that fight hard. Seriously, the only way I could win it was by hiding in a corner and occasionally moving out if it's targeted. Of course, I had to pick up RPG ammo...

Also, agreed on that mission in CoD4. I considered it up to the sniping bit the best part of the game. Of course, it went from stealthy to absurdly hard right after that.

Yeah the sneaking part was great... crawling through the field as the dudes walked past... more terrifying than Condemned.

The fairground on Veteran... twitch... sorry, trying to repress that memory there.

That crawling segment embodied the tension I like in stealth games. Of course, stealthily sniping dudes was cool too.

As for what I did in the you and a cripple vs. the Ukrainian army battle (which I played on hardened), I just hid in the bumper car booth with an AK-47 and ran when the chopper arrived.

Bioshock is the first thing that comes to mind, I'd love to re-experience all that without prior knowledge.

Whenever I play SSBB, Super Monkey Ball 2, or Star Fox 64 with my friends we usually end up rolling on the floor laughing so I'd say those are some of my most enjoyable games.

Well, when I was playing that eroge game back then, that was some fuuuuuun.

Joking,

Probably when I wiped out the entire enemy team a couple of times with my Dead Ringer in TF2. Poor pyros never saw it coming.

*I'm over here! *Dies** "Ha ha ha Right behind you." *Thunk!* he he he *Player death scream*

The opening cutscene of Final Fantasy 10, an awesome song and easily the coolest sport ever.

And the 11th chapter of Ninja Gaiden 2, on that huge staircase in the underworld where you're attacked by at least a hundred ninjas, the game goes into slow-motion and I unleash all of the Ultimate Techniques, the sycthe: swing, swing, swing, BANG! A heap of ninja exploded and I got an avalanche of Yellow Essence, and the Tonfas twirling and pwning in beautiful slow motion. It was totally awesome.

Starting out in Baldur's Gate II. You know that awesome feeling when you just know you're in for dozens of hours of fun in a great game? That was it.

There was also Warcraft 3's launch. I was completely crazy over that game, when I finally got my hands on it I was veeery happy.

I also have fond memories of my early WoW days, when everything was new and shiny.

My gaming epiphany occured while playing through Half-Life (not 2, the original). My perception of what a game could be was expanded immeasurably by that game. Notable parts are Blast Pit (the giant tentacle monster that targets you by sound), Power Up (the tram station with the giant blue monster), and On A Rail (riding the tram, having to stop and clear out stations and obstructions on the rails, and even running battles on the tram). The level design and atmosphere were revolutionary. I was constantly saying to myself "Holy crap, this game is amazing".

Best fun goes hands down to a LAN game of Serious Sam II with three friends

Repetative shooty fun, I just remember the four of us laughing and shooting out way through hordes upon hordes upon hordes of enemies. It was just so damn funny. We started playing at 5pm and decided to stretch our legs about forty five minutes later, only to discover that it was 11pm.

The first time I got the blue gravity gun. I think I will never get so much joy out from a game ever.

This was just recently actually. I was playing UCGO (Universal Century Gundam Online) on the titan test server. Me and 3 of my freinds landed outside the city of Melbourne to go on a Mobile Suit raid. We walked there in complete silence in GMs, using only hand signals. We left the GMs just outside the city and ran in and managed to snag 3 Doms and a Dom Trop.. Some Zeons managed to follow us back to the camp, but all they saw was a Media flying off in the distance. Nothing else really compared after that one moment. It was magical... and hi guys! This is my first post on the escapist!

Urgh! Too many awesome Dreamcast moments. First time playing Soul Calibur, time online (Chuchu Rocket), first time online with Phantasy Star Online, first time playing Shenmue, Red Dog 4player with me friends.

Awesomeness.

Oh, I've got another one... it was actually when my brother was playing Assassin's Creed for the first time (He's the one who gets all the new games) and we had just recently gotten an HD TV. When he rode his horse and got to the first mountain overlooking the first big city... We stood there and stared at the view for probably five to eight friggin minutes. You could see every building for miles. The light and clouds and shadows and textures were just breathtaking. The view from up on that mountain was absolutely gorgeous. We really felt like we were that far up in the air, overlooking a whole city ripe for the exploring.

Both our eyes literally teared up. It was a reflex; we couldn't help it. We were just that awed.

Also... Here's a blog post from Destructoid where this dude has written one of the greatest gaming moments, in a way that explains it far better than I ever could:
