Fable 2... HAHAHA LOL! That ending sucked!
Time Splitters Future Perfect was an all-round bad-ass game. Poor commander lost his robot in the end though :p

Anyway, I thought Mask of the Betrayer had a great ending.
It does.
You end free of a curse with a super badass silver sword, and about level 30, which is the highest you can be.

OT: I liked the ending of Fallout 3 (Both before and after the DLC) and the ending of Red Dead: Redemption.

GTA Vice City. I dunno, after all that went down in Vice, after all the shit Tommy had to go through, I felt that he really deserved the city in its entirety...

...even though probably he was killed off a couple of years later. That's thug life for ya.

Final Fantasy IX and MGS4 are the only two to have ever made me cry. Though I don't necessarily think either of them are the best. IX is pretty typical Final Fantasy ending. MGS4's quality as an ending is diminished due to it going on for hours.

Blood Money had a nice ending, if you count the last level at the funeral as the ending. As did Shenmue II.

I'm going with Shenmue II. I bet Shenmue III's ending would have been even better... :(

What is the best ending to a video game you've ever seen? Mine would probably be the Good ending to inFamous 2, or Portal 2.
Play more games.

Final Fantasy VI

This isn't really an ending, but the the end of the first half of Bioshock. (Would you kindly?)
Or maybe he actually enjoyed those endings.

OT:Metal Gear Solid 4 had a great ending, and so did the first Mass Effect. Lost Odyssey was pretty good, and Halo 3 was very well done. I also just beat Crysis 2, and the story as a whole I thought was pretty weak, but the ending made up for it. And you cant forget all of the half-life endings.

Probably the one where at the end, the protagonist defeats the evil wizard, then uses magic to break the fourth wall, and uses his mights sword tos top the repeated posting of this thread on the Escapist

Although, in all seriousness, Assassins Creed 1

The Darkness. Just awesome ending.
Yakuza 4, I really enjoyed the part when Akiyama got shot in the chest and got saved by something.

I'm quite liking the Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood ending. WTF FTW!
That was a brilliant ending.
You're kidding right? That game has the worst ending I've seen in a while, it skirts over Ezio's obvious mental issues (not even in a "to be continued way") and breaks the game's system in a number of awful fights. Then it tries to convince you to buy the next game by shouting loudly in your face "OOH TWIST!!11!" before the credits like an obnoxious toddler, can't believe it got nominated for a writing award.

On topic all MGS games have a special place in my heart, Yakuza 4 is pretty damn epic and..... Red Dead Redemption, still the best.

Oooh. I'll go for a top 3.

1. Bioshock 2 "Redemption" Ending (Mentioned above, the Sad ending :<). I didn't get it myself (I ended up with the Good ending), just looked it up, but even so it was -incredibly- emotional. Almost cried when it ended, and seeing how I haven't done so for any book, movie or game since forever, that's saying something.

2. Halo: Reach. Great use of Gameplay and Story Intergration. In that ending, you end up actually feeling what Noble 6 feels like. Your only remaining goal is to survive, but even that's impossible. So you go down fighting.

And, hmm. My other spot goes to...

3. Tough choice, but I'm going with Mass Effect 2, counting the entire Suicide Mission as the ending. If you do well, it's exhilherating, with a ton of tense moments and a massive sense of satisfaction when you're done. Especially the Paragon ending. Or if you get the worst ending, and you watch the character's you've gotten attatched to die one by one (due to YOUR mistakes), until YOU die. I loved it. (I got the perfect Paragon ending on the first run, of course)
