I just purchased MGS4 this morning, and im wondering what the best way to play it is.

Do i do it as a COD style shooter, or more of a Splinter Cell stealth game?

Any advice would be awesome.

Stealthy-like gives you better grades at the end of the game, so I'd go with that.

Take a stealthy approach, enemies occasionally respawn so getting into a firefight doesn't necessarily move you forward.

There's honestly not that much stealth in MGS4 unless you count the third chapter.

I went stealthy.

The game itself is certain better suited for stealth, the controls are pretty fucking awful for fast-paced action.
I actually stopped playing because the game kept on trying to force me to go all action, which was a horrible experience each and every time. It was fantastic when I was gettin' mah stealth on though.

Save all of your money by using the mk(scar) or machine gun sniper rifle, or playing stealthy. Then buy the musket that shoots freaking tornados........FREAKING TORNADOS(outside).

Is that what the musket does? I just saved up 200k and bought the m82a2, that thing will take out a gecko in 1 shot.

Don't do that, you get the Railgun for free. It also takes out Gecko's in 1 shot.

Your stun-knife/tranquilizer is surprisingly effective for dealing with just about every encounter.
So "Stealthy" is an approach that comes highly recommended.

Splinter Cell is a Metal Gear Solid style game. Play it cool and stealthy. That's what its all about.

Play it on as hard a difficulty as you feel comfortable too. The harder the better.

Did Snake steal that one from Ratchet, or am i missing something here?

Stun-knife? Gee, seriously? That's how they call it? What is it, a knife with ShamWow wrapped around it? LOL.

OT: MGS is a stealth game, not Call of Duty. For me the answer is obvious.

It's a blade that emits and electric shock, rendering foes unconscious.

Don't ask how it works, this is Metal Gear Solid. Your realism has no place here.

Then why is it a knife instead of stun baton? I mean, if you want to knock someone out, you probably don't want to stab them in the process.

I would take a ShamWow knife over that any day.
