I bought a Wii for Brawl and I'm ashamed....But I don't think I won't buy from Nintendo again. I still like the DS titles mainly because of all the 3rd party companies. New Zelda is about a train. Sighhhh.

Interesting side note: when people talk about the nintendo of old, the real glory days; they're talking about stuff that happened before you were born.

Dear me, well hello there sonny! I remember back in my day, we were lucky if our games only had 8 bits! Oh, lordy, those were the days, Ronald Reagen was president, phones were connected to walls, this is even before you had to worry about the sky sharks! Imagine! Going outside in the daylight! Not that we ever did, of course, we had two buttons! and a... oh my, what ever did we call those things... oh a DEE PAD! I used to have a friend named Dee too, course, that was before the brain rot got er, rest her soul. We used to just puuuush the dee pad, and the little man would ruuunnn! and then you jump! bloop! oh we had so much fun. Little Jimmy Johnson used to pick me up in his dodge charger

and we used to drive around the town, all day long...

Yes, yes, very funny. Grandpa's on his soapbox again.

However, the point really is that a lot of the time when people say that Nintendo sold out/jumped the shark/started rehashing old ideas or whatever, they're talking about things that happened before 1995. Before 2000, certainly, when this guy was FIVE.

I think that what we can take from this is the notion that people have ALWAYS argued that games company X has taken the wayward path. Nintendo are the ones it's most often applied to, because they're pretty much the only team still in the game three decades on.

Grandpa says: It ain't over till it's over.

Well... Nintendo really has been decreasing its appeal for me right from the early games of the N64. They've been innovative, sure, but they haven't made anything really exciting for me in years. Sadly, the success of the Wii is going to feed into their desire to rehash their old concepts in a new environment and focus on the casual gamer. I can't see that I'll ever be induced into buying a Nintendo console again.

Right i'm probably the only one but can someone explain what this 'hardcore gamer' bullshit is about?

I would make a comment about 'the betrayal of Nintendo' but I dont think they've betrayed anyone.

My faith in nintendo is fading it started when brawl was delayed in the U.K. Zelda, Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart, are great games but Animal Crossing has lost it appeal to me. The 360 has a lot more better games Fable 2, Street Fighter 4, Castle Crashers are some of them. PS3 is out of the question because it costs too much. Hardcore gaming is mostly used toward MMORPG's

The games you played as a kid are always better than the ones being released today.

You know, one of these days, one glorious happy day, we'll see an end to people whining about Nintendo just because they're not making games for you anymore.

WHEN, exactly, when did game companies become your friends? When, ever, did they ever want anything more than your money? They're a bloody buisness! A buisness betrays you when it supplies an essential of life, like water or gas or electricity and forces you to pay through the nose for it!

For god's sake, stop getting insulted by game releases

World class troll is still a troll.
I loved Zelda: TP, Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 & got quite a bit of enjoyment out of SSBB. Madworld looks very good and there'll be more awesome games this year, you just have to have some patience ;).

Yeah, they're total bastards. Whole world is like that, these days. F'rinstance, just last week, I went to my usual GP because of a cold, and I found out that he'd left. Just abandoned me, with nary a word, other than a comprehensive list of all other doctors and medical services in the area. He just wandered off to Africa or something, to fight Aids, or malaria, or cholera, or some nonsense. Can you believe the cheek? Just leaving me like that? Damn traitor, that's what he is. He flies back every once in a while to see how I'm doing, but it's just not the same.

Yeah, so did I! *sobs*

Well I have learnt my lesson and now I do research before buying a game and to never get worked up over hype!

Nintendo is a great system if you have small children and I recommended it to my mother for the sports games to keep her active. Mine, on the other hand, I couldn't even tell you the last time I played it. I got my boys (hubbie and child) the House of the Dead because they love zombie games but they hate the fact that you only have so many credits and no way, like you can in the arcade, pop in more quarters.

Nintendo still has their niche but it's just not my first system of choice. My first choice will always be my XBox 360.

You can ***** all you want but -

People like my wife and my parents and my cousins all love the Wii. My wife and my mom are having sort of a Wii Fit competition. My wife is in a race with my cousin to beat My Sims: Kingdom.

And you can't say my wife wasn't a Nintendo fan. She beat Super Mario 3 on the original system. She beat Zelda: Ocarana of Time when it came out, and then Zelda: Twilight Princess when it came out. And Pikamin. And has just about everything in Animal Crossing. And beat most of the DS games she bought (including nearly every Phoenix Wright game ... sheesh).

So whatever Nintendo is doing wrong by you, they aren't doing wrong by my wife. And she gives them her money when she's interested in a game.

I think Mario is really dead. I mean, where can he honestly go from here? He's already teamed up with Sonic, been involved with every sport ever to exist with the exception of maybe curling, and traveled through space.

WHERE CAN HE GO FROM HERE?

To a certain extend I just can't understand it.

Look at all the possibilities for new titles on the Wii. A new Kirby, a new Star Fox, a new Donkey Kong. All those old classics are just waiting to be resurrected for the new fans and they would sell like crazy.

Imagine if Nintendo managed to get the Rare connection running again, the media would be all over that. They would have good publicity, proven and succesful franchises to work on, and definetly fan support.

The N64, SNES had so many titles that are just screaming for a new iteration on the Wii, Nintendo 'lovers' would be all over them.

Kid Icarus turned into a Zelda style Rpg but with more depth. what about releasing morrowind or another elder scrolls it a low level pc can run it Im sure the Wii can manage it! Another Eternal Darkness game would also be good what with the ability to make it first person and have the wii remote whispering to you in Latin etc!

All of these would be fantastic vehicles for the Wii system, i am also a little sick of this Wii flailing talk that goes on. I have at no point flailed playing the Wii! i occasionally flaii doing other things but that is another story!

I was a Nintendo handheld whore back in the day. I didn't have a Gamecube or a PS2, just my Game Boy Advanced. Now it's my DS Lite I use to support my Nintendo handheld needs, only now I have a PS3 I won in a Sydney Morning Herald competition which I need to buy more games for as well. It's only so much before Resistance 2 bores my friends who come over to exploit my expensive console I got for free.

And they get angry when I buy a DS game instead of a PS3 game. Sigh. They're not the ones paying for the games...
