If anything, it's exactly what Yahtzee said about the Wii in his review about house of the dead.

My faith in nintendo is fading it started when brawl was delayed in the U.K.
I think has hurt my perception of Nintendo, too. They've definitely been amongst the worst players when it comes to region delays this generation.

Betrayal is the right word. I too went to great lengths to get myself a Wii on launch day, and initially I was quite happy with it. Sure, Wii Sports and Wii Play were not exactly hardcore gaming experiences, but the new Wiimote made them interesting to play nonetheless, and surely games with more intensity to them would follow soon enough. However, 1,5 years later there were still only a handful of really interesting Wii games available, and then the Super Smash Bros. Brawl bullshit (released in Europe 3,5 months later than in America and Japan) finally made me do something that I had in all the prior years never even considered: I bought a videogame console from someone other than Nintendo or SEGA. An Xbox 360, to be exact. Now there's a game I really want to have coming out every month, plus a big library of other interesting titles for me to choose from. I don't regret my decision, but I do regret that Nintendo left me no choice but to look elsewhere. I really hope that next generation they'll focus more on making good rather than accessible/shiny games again. After the demise of SEGA they're the only console company I care about, but I just can't accept what they're doing this generation.

Lets try to look at it from another perspective. Both the wii and the DS have the most exclusive titles. Most titles comming out for 360 also appear on the PS3 and the other way round, except for the games made by Sony, Microsoft or the companies they bought (like Guerilla and Epic). And right now, there actually are some hardcore exclusives for the wii to play or like out too; No More Heroes gets a sequal, the New Kid Icarus, The Conduit, Mad World, Tenchu; shadow assassin, House of Dead, Fragile, Deadly creatures and Fatal Frame 4. Sure, there's a lot of casual crap on it because a lot of third party developpers think thats what the consumer wants. But I think within the next year and a half the wii will also get more for the core audience....

pretty please Miyamoto?

Core Nintendo games tend to have development cycles of 3-4 years.

They won't show us anything until they think the screens will properly represent the finished games.

That is all.

I really, really hope this thread is a joke. I mean, really. Sure, you can argue that the quality and frequency of Nintendo's releases has gone down since they started riding the Wii gravy train to loadsa money-ville, fair enough. But how much of a petty, self-obssessed sense of entitlement do you have too have to start bandying about the world "betrayal"? When your best friend shags your girlfriend and runs off with her after drowning your puppy in the bath, that would be a betrayal. If your brother souls his soul to a demon for infernal powers, kills all the rest of your family and chucks you off a cliff while cackling Vincent Van Price style, yes, the word would be very appropriate. But when the greatest crime here is to be wildly successful making games you personally don't enjoy, that's not a betrayl so much as a sound bussiness strategy.

I mean, really folks, where did our deep seated, misty eyed loyalty get Nintendo in the end? Thrid place.Rotting away from the console market like a gangrenous limb while Sony made tons of cash appealing to Johnny FMV gawp with massive amounts of cinematics and gore then using that to nab the most quality titles. I'll admit that despite playing through No More Heroes at the moment, I don't get a massive amount of use out of my Wii, but its great for playing Wii Sports or something when my Nephew comes down. It has a function that it does well. If I want a meatier game, I'll load up CivIV on my lappy for the umptieth time or shell out for flashy shooter 1000.

Find some games you enjoy and give Nintendo a formal doff of the cap for their sensibility without a temper tantrum. And let's face it, the you that first fell in love with nintendo probably has a lot more in common with the archetypal 8 year old kid currently playing wii sports or Galaxy than the you of now. This too shall pass matey, no use whining about it.

Well, sucks to be you. I love Wii and its by far my most played current gen system. I have 30 games for it excluding Wiiware/VC. There are decent games on Wii. Sadly it tends to be the shit ones that get media coverage so you have to go out and find them yourself.

For every gamer that leaves the fold there will be 20 grandmas and 9 year olds that take your place. That is perhaps the most hurtful thing about Nintendo's betrayal...you will not be missed.

Ok that and the dust collecting on the $250 console you purchased instead of a $300 Xbox 360 or newly $300 PS3.

Speaking of Conker, Rare seems to be in a situation similar to Nintendo. Remember Conker Live and Reloaded for the Xbox?

I honestly don't get it. I played Mario as a kid, and some of the other major nintendo names as well, and I just can't fathom why people hate the wii so much. People don't realize Nintendo is basically making the same things they always have. Stupid games for kids, they just never had the ability to market to anybody else until wii came around.

Besides, other than Zelda, is there really even any old nintendo games that have any kind of continuum anyway? Mario was a 2d side scroll that had you breaking boxes to find coins and jumping on or over giant lizards in a never ending chase for some dumb princess. Storyline = 0.

Maybe allow your tastes to mature and not expect the same games to continually be able to appease your lust for new content when sequels are notoriously terrible for disappointing fans.

If you fixed your grammar and spelling I would feel sorry for you.

Get madworld, it's a good game for the wii.

It isn't Nintendo that really changed, it is you.
Ding! We have a rational thought!

Seriously I'm starting to find it hard to believe people keep expecting Nintendo had to "grow up" (subjective term at this point really) with them.

My first Console was the SNES, and I always loved nintendo as I was growing up but now, well I am sad because there are all these games for the Xbox360 and PS3 while the wii gets crap like "african picture safari." Please nintendo, we need our good games. I'm not looking for old series, just give something for teh hardcore among us to play, you were the rebirth of console gaming after it died in teh early 80's, please don;t go the way of those old companies and make the nintendo seal mean something!

They usually only do one Mario and Zelda game per console cycle. So there, also it's other developers not Nintendo that is shoveling all that crap onto the system. Nintendo (I think) is just publishing. You need to try other games like Madworld and No More Heroes.

They make parents and GRANDparents appreiciate games, so they've taken the spotlight off us for a year or two, big freakin deal, they're making games ACCEPTABLE to play, so when ManHunt-3 busts onto the scene (like you know it will), no longer will it be included in court cases as legitimate cause of effect!

Whatever, don't like it? Trade it in for a xbox or ps3, Hell use this thing called a computer! And play some PC games while you wait for Nintendo to get their shining light of focus back on their loyal audience. S'what I'm doing, my brother's using it in the mean time.
