People, can we please not take reviewing scores seriously anymore. Yes it's true, no game is worth 10/10 ( well except deus ex1 and hl1 ;) )
You kinda just undermined your whole argument right there.
The ;) at the end of that sentence means I'm not serious :)

Conserning the hard handbrake system, yes you can't turn like in need for speed in this game. If you slow down a little, using the handbrake slightly you can actually slip around corners pretty easily. I found it to be alot better on the 360 controller then on the ps3 one though, since on the 360 hard brake is the right bumper. On the ps3 I think it's x, which means you have to move your finger in order to hit the button which feels unnatural for me. Maybe I'm biased though since I just prefer the 360 controller any day.
It depends all on the car though. For instance the yellow porsche Brucie gives you brakes like ..well it doesn't brake at all it seems. The corvette on the other hand drives like a dream, either going really fast or taking hard corners. Vipers do ok on all fronts.

Break for PS3 controller is R1 or X.
Ah so it could be changed, played it at a friends house back then and he wouldn't change the settings since apparently I was the only one botherd with it. N/m then :)

Just picked it up and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed so far. It's like they cut all of the great stuff from the previous GTA games or excessively trimmed it down.

And then added gameplay that doesn't inhale cock like a dyson.

Like the bowling and darts mini-games right?
Not to mention drunk driving and web-surfing! Gosh, don't forget the essentials, silly :p

But seriously, the shooting mechanics in the first three were game-killers for me.

I actualy think the shooting is rather bad in this game. But i played all the previous GTA games on the PC so that might change my view on things.

I FOUND THE HEART!

Umm what I mean to say is I found a beating heart inside the liberty statue. Had to crash a non-weapons helli to get there and the door was blacked out. Anybody else found an easter egg?

Edit: Is it me or is rockstar flaunting the controversy with things like the warm coffee achievement?

People, can we please not take reviewing scores seriously anymore. Yes it's true, no game is worth 10/10 ( well except deus ex1 and hl1 ;) )since reviewers have been throwing high scores at every hyped game and it's mother. I suggest you just read the damn things and make up your own mind once you've played it yourself. Gamespot is far from perfect and I'm surprised some people still think it's the word of god with their ratingsystem. I suggest you try their readers reviews section, usually you see scores from 6 to 10 so there is almost always something people hate or like.
That's all good and well about the user reviews, but i'm sure you and most other people on this forum realise there are more idiots on the Internet than those that enjoy civilised conversation, so you're more likely to get reviews that are either 10/10 with comments such as "OMFG IS TEH AMAZING" (i don't realise that sorta speak too well) or 0 score with comments such as "worst game ever" so I tend not to even read those reviews.

It's one of the reasons I like Yahtzees reviews, due to the fact he's brutally honest and is intelligent about it, highlighting weak points and even positive points, doesn't matter if it's a brash, hilarious way of presenting his thoughts.

Anyway! I don't understand why people think the shooting and aiming system in this game is that bad, it's simple and easy to use, hold left trigger to auto-target any enemy in front of you, put a little less pressure to free aim, use the right analog stick to switch target or pick target.

I've also not experienced a single problem with this game, no frame-rate issues, freezing, anything. There have been gameplay fuckups such as calling Roman for a cab and having it run over Packie when it arrives, then just drive off. Not to mention any cab you hail will mindlessly pull up to the nearest curb, often smashing straight into whatevers there (an Infernus I was looking for for a long time got smashed up when I parked it at a safehouse).

This game is an incredible game, nothing like I've ever played before, the mass attention to detail and some inventive missions make for some fun play. I've recently finished the story but I'm still roaming the city, exploring and occasionally wreaking havoc. I may go for 100% completion and then start a new game, as I'm keen to see how the alternate decisions play out.

Lol, yeh tell me about the cabs. When I was playing with some friends we kept calling for cabs and they smashed everything on the sidewalk to bits and pieces :) Try it sometimes.

Conserning reader reviews, or reviews in general try my method. I avoid reviews with a 10/10 like the plague ( unless it's an actually decent site like IGN or gamespy ), just don't read the damn things. The same goes for reader reviews. Yes 90 out of a 100 are crap and consist mostly of OMFG I LOVE THIS GAME, 10/10!!!1! but there are always a few that rate lower. I usually read the reader reviews with the more lower scores, for instance the ones that give a hyped game a 7 instead of a 10. These are usually the reviews that pick out the little flaws and annoyances in games, lowering the overall score.

So if you go into the readers reviews section, it usually is like this:
Ratings 1 to 4.5 = I suck, omfgz wher3z ma halo!!!1
Ratings 4.5-5.5 = Either the above or somebody that just thought the game was flawed on certain points, not worth buying. For games that are actually pretty poor, you usually see alot of these pretty valid little reviews.
Ratings 6 -7.5 = The game is good, but there are some flaws. These are usually the ones I read.
Ratings 7.5-8 = Usually good games, with some minor pickings but good games none the less.
Anything above, don't bother cause there's no information to be found.

These little reader reviews are sometimes the only reviews you can actually read about bugs that pester gameplay, imbalance issues, etc. If you take Battlefield 2 as an example, almost every review out there praised this game like no tomorrow. HIgh scores, get it now! Only to play the demo and be able to pick out 50 things that could have been done better. It wasn't the game promised in the trailer at all, bunny hopping and dolphin diving were pretty rampant from the getgo. I've read 1 review from a total of 20 or so that actually mentioned bunny hopping, just shows to never trust on reviews alone.

Back on topic, I've only really seen one glitch so far. I went to play pool with Roman and when I wanted to walk out, he was stuck behind the pooltable and started turning around in circles like an idiot. Pretty entertaining actually, but so far the game seems pretty polished :)

I'd like to see in the next game the main character being a woman for a change. Thoughts?
Depends on the woman. I'd hate to see GTA V be a "Lara Croft" steals cars sort of adventure. It's not like women don't engage in criminal activities, but bringing that kind of story to GTA would be a lot harder to do without making a mockery of what they accomplished story wise in IV. I certainly would buy it, but then again I am a sucker for open worlds.

I could see the game being great with a women like Mallory from Natural Born Killers. Crazy and violent to the extreme. That would make for interesting story possibilities too. Maybe that type of character in a Falling Down type of story where she is at her low paying crappy job and finally has enough and snaps. She goes on a killing spree and gets noticed by some crime lords who pull her into a world she knows nothing about. So on and so forth.
