Wow, I actually learned something interesting today. Useless? Sure. But I feel happier for it haha!

Thanks, Bob!

Wasn't there another Ghost Busters cartoon by the same people who made the Godzilla cartoon series?

I remember both versions of the Ghostbusters cartoons, even though I'm a 90's kid. I liked both of them to be honest.
But one criticism, please drop the 'insert medium' is weird bits. It's more than a little grating and I think everyone has figured that fact out by now.

I always wondered why they made Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis in the film) have blonde hair and a quiff.

While they had the rights to the story, they didn't have the rights to the actors looks; which is why there's subtle differences.

Whoaa! Bov that was irrelevant... Sorry grew up in the 1990's. Born in 1989. SO tv for me was about anime and other stuff and moving around too much did not help either.
watchu talking about willis we had batman the animated series (often ranked the number one animated cartoon series of all time), gargoyles, street sharks, power rangers (not animated but w.e.) teenage mutant ninja turtles, mummy's alive, pinky and the brain, animaniacs, tiny toons the list goes on we had great shows ohh transformers/ beastwars we had so many non anime great shows

Wow. I had totally forgotten about the first Ghostbusters cartoon, but seeing those clips makes me feel like ancient memories are stirring deep in my back-brain.

Congratulations, Bob!

Wow, that was an awesome history lesson. It makes a lot of sense.

I've always liked the Real Ghostbusters, but I got a chance to see Filmation's Ghostbusters recently, and I thought it was actually pretty cool.

Yeah, I was wondering why the cartoonish Janine looked rather hot while the movie Janine looked like April's whiney sidekick from the 80's TMNT show.

I like moviebob's stuff, very educational. Personally, I would never have known that the ghost busters cartoon was based off of a 1974 TV series because I was born in 1976. All this time, I thought they just pulled the setting out of nowhere. Frankly, it's interesting they even kept any resemblance to the original series at all.

Also, this video goes into further detail about Filmation's Ghost Busters, both the live action show and the animated series. It mostly focuses on the gorilla, Tracy, though:

Thank you. It feels so good to have that little nagging question cleared up after all of these years.

Great. It took me 23 years to get that theme music out of my head. I'll be 60 before I can be alone with my thoughts again ;-)

Ghostbusters, the Filmation one, had an awesome theme song. Other than that, I had long ago confined it to the recesses of my mind until you conjured it up again. Thanks.

I like this series but with every consecutive episode, I wonder more and more: Why is it called The Big Picture? It still concentrates on relatively narrow perspective and topic. Some of the first episodes were more aware of wider background behind the issues discussed.

Bob, respectfully, loose the whole "Comics/TV is weird" bit/voice. At this point it is like your Halo rants: overdone and never very funny to begin with. Yeah, we get it.

Otherwise, great video. You hit the nail on the head about liking Ghostbusters as a kid. I remember very specifically the feeling of "I am not supposed to be watching this, it is for grown ups" feeling I got whenever I watched the movie.
