I love how 'rest of the world' is accompanied by a picture of South and North America :D

Got way too convoluted towards the end, you have a habit of going off on a tangent. I also don't yet understand what each head is meant to represent, if they are all representations of individual elements of your psyche. Finally, trying to promote nationalism across the board has never gone well and frankly we can do without people encouraging it. Oh, and while North America might have its share of superheroes, i doubt some of the smaller countries really have anyone quite up to par with Captain America. I don't mean to point fingers, but really, i don't think a Captain Denmark or Captain Norway would have quite the same impact. Also, i thought superheroes were a mostly American culture thing. Europe isn't really into all that, from my experience anyway, and it feels like you're trying to project your culture onto us. Not to mention the sheer isolationism of some not so western countries; if nations like Africa and India don't participate in pumping out their own hollywood superheroes, won't that strike as being somewhat... discriminatory?

My name is Jon, and that's the Big Picture!

I guess Mexico's leading hero would have to be El Santo, a heroic luchador that fights mummies, vampires, and pretty much any other monster on a regular basis.

Why doesn't it make sense for Captain America to not be a very enthusiastic patriot? Because he's wearing a damn flag on his body, for one. And two, "center-left, progressive" kinds of guys (which usually are just regular left guys masquerading as moderates) tend to think it's hip and cool to thrash your own country. That might also explain why there's so few nationality-based heroes--a lot of countries, especially in Europe, have been taken over by lefty thinking, and when that happens you're liable to be persecuted as a "jingoist" if you promote your own country in any way [http://www.fox40.com/news/headlines/ktxl-americanflagbike11122010,0,3045879.htmlstory]. I have to wonder if even the British people are starting to think that guys like Union Jack and Captain Britain are too patriotic by modern standards.

Patriotism is not the same as jingoism, and it's a sad fact that our supposedly enlightened cultures are failing to understand that.

Interesting, but it might have been nicer to have more discussion of why Captain America is interesting (to the non-comic-book-fans). Bob sort of said "Captain America is way more interesting than you might expect!", and then just left it at that.

Also, the faces seemed pretty random - they didn't feel like they actually synced with the dialogue in a meaningful way.

True, the Swedes have the Thor movie to look forward to next year... Well it doesn't have much to do with the old religion, but still, I think it is going to be awesome :)

BUT... we actually had an all Swedish superhero-movie that started production in 2002 that never finished... ready for this? It was CAPTAIN SWEDEN!

And look: It's a black man in a superhero suit! (refering to Bob's own show "The Game Overthinker" V23) :)

Sometimes my own homeland does make me proud :p Just a shame that they couldn't finish this movie. It would have been 100% awesome-sauce.

Okay, I was on board with last week's episode, but what the hell happened here? Captain America to soccer (football) to Street Fighter? Whatever point Bob was trying to make here got lost in the mix of way too many ideas.

"We already have enough opportunities to wave our... colours... around and be obnoxious", you do understand that it's not all about this, while the obnoxious flag waving does grate a bit its the total disregard for local custom's and beliefs that gets the rest of the worlds goat. Never have I seen people so able to move into a area then complain about how its not up to certain standards or its done better at home or this is not the way we do it, and on and on and on, it's not all of you, but it is a great big large % of you that do this while travelling and such. Learn a bit of respect for others not of your nationality and maybe we will forgive you for been ignorant buffoons

Better than last week's, but I don't quite understand the lets-use-the-final-quarter-to-craft-a-long-and-unrelated-Street=Fighter-analogy angle. Oh well. It's interesting to hear your thoughts, even if they could do with a bit of organization.

The big picture just doesn't work for me because what I liked was that he went very in depth into things. Now it's all glossed over, a resume of what he thinks about something and that's just blend. Everyone does it. The in-depth social critics that used to be in movie bob and the game over thinking were fresher to the current medias and frankly much more funny and though provoking. Just not my cup of tea.

Yeah you had up until about 3/4 the video then you seemed to just go off on a tangent. I agree though read the Marvel Civil War saga and you'll see Captain America is not a blind patriot. Hopefully the movie will capture this Captain America's persona.

National Hero? hmmm mine would probably be....

An Ex Commando turns crime fighting vigilante,What makes him different than "just another Batman ripoff" is that he doesn't have or use futuristic gadgets, and he kills badguys, all the freaking time.

If Read Eagle has his Arch nemesis hanging upside down like Batman had Joker in The Dark knight,he would just slit his throat right then and there,no need to turn him in.

I... cannot... believe... I wasted the better part of 5 minutes on that...

DRIVEL.

Bob, seriously. Put out a decent product. Between the blatant "I'm going to kick off the new series by starting a flame war about Halo" of the first episode, to this... meandering commentary about something that really very few people probably care about, I have yet to see anything of value in 'the Big Picture'. You're not causing me to think about topics I haven't previously considered or reevaluate beliefs I currently hold; hell, all you're doing is wasting my time talking about something that you consider to be interesting. Please feel free to continue 'The Big Picture' by cutting out the middle-man and talking into a mirror.

Oh, and PRO-TIP, Bob: I know at least two other people mentioned it already, but it needs to be underscored: there already is a tournament where athletes from different countries can compete on the field of 'battle':

[HEADING=1]IT'S CALLED THE OLYMPICS[/HEADING]

And secondly, I'd say that Britain does have 'superheroes', except they don't wear Spandex and have radioactive powers. Bob, I'll see you an Ironman and a Captain America and raise you a James Bond and a Sherlock Holmes!
Not forgetting Artemis Fowl, Arthur Dent, A certain Timelord, Robin of Locksley, John Steed, Basil Fawlty...

We'll even let the French have Jean Luc Picard.
Artemis is Irish...

No Canadian Superheroes? What about Team Epic?

http://teamepic.tv/index.php

Need I also remind anyone that Wolverine is Canadian in origin?
Isn't Alpha Flight a Canadian superteam?

They're not big or anything, but hey it's something.
Yes, but they are dead now. Only Omega Flight is left.
