I like movie bob, but his videos are very hit and miss. He tends to stray off topic too often, like his review of centurion. He spent most of it talking about two other films, when I just wanted to know if centurion was any good. And with this I thought he was going to go in to some in-depth topic like nationalism vs patriotism. But instead he caves in and just dose a rubbish gag about the world cup and street fighter.

Also, it's nice to see him using original graphics for his vids now. It looks a lot more professional. But what the hell did the random changing faces have to do with anything?

Centurion is really good by the way. :)

I actually wouldn't mind a Union Jack Movie, but America isn't the only one going head-first with iconic characters who are from their country. Sherlock Holmes, James Bond, Robin Hood, the only thing that sets the Cap' different is the fact that he has the word 'America,' in his name.

But seriously, I've never met a person, nor do I believe that someone from a different country will say 'Captain America, the guy must be some nationalist American asshole.' Americans don't do it for British characters, popularity or not, I don't see people jeering at Captain America just because of his name.

Well, here's my response to the 'show us your hero movies':

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0277941/

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107930/

Fitting with our background and typical attitude. Both of them.

National Hero? hmmm mine would probably be....

An Ex Commando turns crime fighting vigilante,What makes him different than "just another Batman ripoff" is that he doesn't have or use futuristic gadgets, and he kills badguys, all the freaking time.

If Read Eagle has his Arch nemesis hanging upside down like Batman had Joker in The Dark knight,he would just slit his throat right then and there,no need to turn him in.

So instead of a Batman ripoff he's a Punisher ripoff, good thing we cleared that up.

I liked the start but you feel apart and said some arguably stupid things near the end then went off on a massive tangent... this is not your bit, just stick to movie reviews.

I think Statham is a much better actor than people give him credit for. Remember, he didn't start his career as an action star, he started it in Lock,Stock and Two Smocking Barrels and then Snatch. Wasn't until Mean Machine or Transporter that he became an action star. He's perfectly capable of playing a serious role when need be and I think he'd be pretty good for Union Jack as he has the acting skills and the martial arts training to pull of the stunts.

Like you touched upon, people usually think of Americans as fat assholes and see Captain America as some sort of bragging. But isn't James Bond sort of like English bragging? Not sure if I understand my point, but whatever.

Also I'm afraid I'm not going to believe Chris Evans as Captain America. Sometimes I forget his name all together and call him Johnny Storm or Human Torch.
Duh. His name is Lucas Lee.
>.> I thought he was lucas wilson <.<
Nope. Lucas Lee in Scott Pilgrim!
some one hasn't read the 2nd comic yet
Whether or not his name is Lucas Wilson in the comic (though I still think it's Lucas Lee), Chris Evans plays the character on the screen, which is, Lucas Lee.

Lock stock and snatch, while excellent films are not great examples of Statham's acting prowess. His dialogue, though witty and well written is patchy and bereft of emotion and his expressions and mannerisms are rarely on the ball. It's funny in the context of the film, because the whole thing is supposed to feel kind of...off somehow, but it wasn't intentional on his part I promise you.

Tom Hardy. Now THAT is an actor - someone capable of playing a crazy diverse range of characters, emotions and dialects with a fully rounded realism that'd make Heath Ledgers Joker applaude.

Well, it wasn't really that in depth, but your ramblings amused me Bob. I do love the idea of settling international issues with a real life Street Fighter tournament or whatever.
Also, does anyone else wanna see a Saxton Hale movie now? Come on, Australia wins with the hero.

Would be even better with a little more cohesion. How did we end up with Street Fighter.

Also: National Superheroes... yeah... well... here in Germany, we did have a few of those.

Didn't work out well.

Really didn't.

Not at all.

Jesus.

This. Also I hafta say after two episodes I really think you are underachieving here. I love the moviebob videos and I always was a fan of Game Overthinker, but it really feels like you are putting minimal effort into these videos.

Step it up Bob! BTW I got Celtics tix tonight, you down?

Also, just remembered, Croatia also has Super Hrvoje. [http://www.internationalhero.co.uk/s/superhrvoje.htm] He fights the Serbian army or something.
Oh, WOW. I had no idea we had one! And it even says "an equivalent to Captain America".

He looks rather badass.

Oddly enough street fighter isn't the only Japanese media that toyed with the idea of "each country pick a fighter." One of the Gundam anime series used the idea of a world martial art tournament to settle on leadership for the world. If you're interested in it, the series is Mobile FIghter G Gundam.

Bob, are you aware that you have basically described this:

You know, I think we may be onto something...

(And for anyone who has NOT seen Robotjox, what have you been doing with your life?)

Nah,you see,Punisher first appearance was 1974,but The Red Eagle LAST appearance (before 2010 reboot) was 1963.

It's either coincidences or the Punisher is a Red Eagle rippoff

As someone raised to believe that any form of patriotism is wrong I can't get behind that, sorry. Blame my dad.

I wonder what Germany's hero would be. The dutch one seems obvious though..
