Hey guys, at the time I'm posting this, Rebirth is right around the corner. Was interested in seeing how many of you are aboard the same hype train I am. I know it isn't the most popular game but it has to have a decent little fan base outside its niche subreddit and threads on /v/.

Are you guys going to get it? If so, what for? What are you must excited about? Why won't you be getting it?

I put over 450 hours into the original Isaac and will not hesitate to do that again.

Well it has almost 200 new items, 16 new bosses or something like that, 500 rooms per floor as apposed to 150, tons of new enemy types, synergies that actually work like Moms Knife+Brimstone shooting a beam of knives, etc.

It's more of a sequel than a remake

Oh ok.

I suppose I probably should have just googled it.

Im definitely buying it, but I am not that hyped up. I have been waiting since it first was announced though. To the point where I stopped playing the original version.

I'm actually preloading it as we speak. I'm a huge fan of the original, I've logged about 300 hours. My current computer won't run it properly though so it's going to be awesome to be able to play it again in the form of Rebirth. I'm actually more excited to be able to play it on the Vita though. Apparently Europe -- and hopefully Australia by extension -- is getting the Vita version at the same time as North America which is a pleasant surprise (still waiting on 1001 Spikes, Nicalis).

And best of all, it's not made in fucking Flash.

Oooh. I'd been too damn lazy to look up the new stuff but it sounds very tempting. Binding of Isaac was an absolute favorite time waster for me. Hundreds of hours spent there instead of studying during university.... More items, bosses, items working together better... I have to get it at some time.

Yeah, actually having some stability and decent framerate will make for a nice change.

I didn't play a lot of the first one. There were some issues that kept me from really liking it and I didn't really enjoy the aesthetics. I'm also not a fan of that Newgroundsy style Flash look. It did some really great things though. Just the variety of things you can come across is very interesting.

Who knows, I might pick this new one up. I like the look of it a little more.

What i'm wondering is whether it's worth getting if you have the original.
Questions already been answered. but the Game is no longer constrained to the limits of Flash which makes it much easier to port to other services, the game itself sports a new artstyle whilst the game itself contains all the content from the Original and it's expansion; Wrath of the Lamb. with content intended for the Original but was cut due to said Flash limit as well as entirely new material.

I've played 71 hours of the original, Rebirth is 33% off on steam if you own the original game, which is pretty nice, though the offer ends quite soon before the game is released.

I'm not buying it. But I am getting it for free because of PSN Plus. Honestly can't wait to try it out as I've never been much of a PC gamer(Don't ask why, cause I'm not sure myself), and I never got to play it before until now that it is being ported over.

That being said have watched gameplay and it looks amazing and challenging.

Totally psyched to be playing it so soon. It's looking and sounding great so far. My only question is how many videos/streams I'll watch given that I'd like to avoid having at least some of the new content spoiled.

Well my choice of avatar should say a lot. I have over 200 hours into the original, my wife loves watching it played and follows BoIler racing with me, so yeah it got pre-loaded for sure. Got the 33% off for having the original, then sold 6 dollars worth of trading cards so I was into it for about 4 bucks. I'm sure the gameplay to dollar ratio is going to be fucking insane there, especially if it's really going to be a PS+ thing as it's perfectly suited to the Vita.

To be honest, I wasn't too impressed with the original. And I've beaten Satan twice and reached him a couple more, so I have put some time into it. I always felt my ability to progress depended more on what items the game felt like coughing up than my personal skill. I beat Satan on my first try because I was given the completely broken Dr. Fetus/Mr. Mega/Wafer combo and wiped him out before realizing what an aggressive son of a ***** he is. The next time I got to him... well, I learned what an aggressive son a ***** he is.

I really dig the soundtrack though, and I was interested in Rebirth if only for an updated soundtrack, and then I heard somewhere Danny Baranowsky wasn't doing the soundtrack for the remake. Anyone know anything about that?

I know what you mean. I have somewhere near 465~ hours in the original Isaac plus time in Spidermod and I'm still craving more. Crazily enough, someone gifted me Rebirth for free on PC and I already have PS+ so technically I haven't even had to pay for Rebirth yet. Even though I'm getting off easy, I still want to support Edmund, so I'll probably buy a copy and do a giveaway or something.

I am of course interested, but more inclined to wait until it's DRM free.

No details on whether that's going to happen yet, but I think I've finished Isaac maybe...twice out of 100 attempts? I have some work to do :D

Logged about 300 hrs in the original overall. I played 4 or 5 runs of Rebirth so far today and beat Mom on my last go.

Pros:
-Smoother controls, no lag
-Bigger floors, new room types
-New enemies
-New items

Cons:
-pixel art style looks a little muddy at times
-I miss Baranowski's upbeat arcade-y music, new music is more ambient but new sounds are arcade-y
-Map scrolls instead of builds (hard to explain it, you'll see when you play it) which I find a little annoying, but this is a minor gripe

Overall, for ~$10 pre-buy and a surprisingly tiny download size, I'd say it's worth it. If you liked BoI you'll like rebirth.

The Womb/Utero actually gave me shivers. Its atmosphere is that good.
