I speak for everyone in the human race when I say Final Fantasy II. But to be more personal, I really, truly hate both FFV and FFX with equal passion.

However, FFVIII is almost without question my favorite game.

I love the Zelda games, but I have a feeling mentioning the CDI games is cheating, so I'm gonna go with Twilight Princess. I think that's the only Zelda game I quit playing out of boredom. -__-

Also, I actually like the second Zelda game with the jumping and the RPG elements, forgot what it was called though...

You sir have won the internets.

OT: Halo Wars: Let's make a shitty, streamlined RTS that tries to act as the prequel to Halo:Combat Evolved. Oh wait, Reach is out. Never mind, it's just a shitty RTS with Spartans in it.

Dawn of War Soulstorm, I don't understand how they managed to fuck it up, come on there are dark eldar and sisters of battle there, sisters of fucking battle.
Hadn't thought of that... Dark Crusade was freakin' awesome... but Soulstorm did feel really flat...

OT: Empire: Total War

I still enjoyed the strategy side, but the battles made me rage to hell and back so I only played them a couple times and fucked it subsequently.

Every other title in the series (that's 6 and counting) has been pretty much what I've come to expect (or not as the early titles were, but they were still damned fun at the time).

Won't bother talking about CoD...

EDIT:

Assassin's Creed, it's got a great story, and it introduced me (and everyone) to an exciting world, but the original, boy it's not the greatest!
... that too... felt so grind-y at times, even though it had less to grind than the other two games... o_O'

For me that goes to The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Now I LOVE the Zelda series with a burning passion, but this game just made me sigh at how it was just so "meh" overall. I couldn't even finish it, it was just so painful to try and go through...
This.
I didn't even finish it.
Why?
Because fuck the Temple of the Ocean King, that's why.

Borderlands...
So many hours, so little enemy varieties...
Borderlands isn't a series yet... the original can't be a Black Sheep till it has a sequel. I don't care how repetitive the enemies can get, they're well designed and quirky enough...

Out of Final Fantasy, XIII is definitely the Black Sheep.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was something like 15 hours of cutscenes and 3 hours' gameplay. Srsly. All the others had at least 8 hours of actual playtime.

Dues Ex: IW

If people need a definition for "consolised" and evidence of it's effects, this is it.
Up until recently I would have defended it as being a good game, but a bad Deus Ex sequel.

After trying to play it again a few weeks ago, I've realized you're absolutely right. It's just a bad game with a few good moments sprinkled throughout.

Holy crap, I never thought I'd see the day where I meet someone else who loves FFVIII. I thought I was alone in the universe when it came to absolutely loving that game.

Kingdom Hearts Recoded: A lazy retread of the first game which doesn't even bother to advance the main plot.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Not bad, but not so great either. I expected more after Snake Eater.

Halo 3 ODST: One of the laziest cash ins I've ever seen. I was done with Bungie after that.

C&C4. Which, by the way, doesn't exist. Nope. Absolutely no idea where people get the idea that it does.

Yeah... They removed everything that made the previous games what they were and replaced all of it with "crawlers" because they couldn't be bothered to design structures. On that note I wish that Dawn of War had kept structures. Seems that sequels nowadays take features away rather than add them.
I couldn't agree more. I like that they really tried something new with this game rather than pumping out the same old formula with updated graphics...but C&C4 turned out terrible.

Final Fantasy VIII is a deeply flawed game, but it hits all of it's main objectives right on the head. Also, if anyone wants to complain about drawing, I'm sorry, but you suck if you draw (I say this as someone who does so frequently). The game offers endless ways to not draw spells. It's entirely possible to do a no-draw run of that game.

Yeah, C&C4 basically made me forget about Command & Conquer entirely haha The memory was so bad that I had to erase the entire series from my brain to make sure it didn't survive

I can understand what you're saying, it being the original, the gameplay is alot less refined... but i'd actually say 2 is the black sheep of the series.
For 2 reasons mainly:
The first reason being the absolutely ridiculous twist ending that would put M. Night Shyamalan to shame, and it spawning a tradition of stupid twist endings that each game seems to be trying its best to outdo.
And the second that we only got to use Leonardos flying machine for one mission!

Ace Combat Assault Horizon. They turned a great dog fighting game into a rail shooter.
