hmmmmmm...

Certain parts of it do seem similar to Fallout, yes, but other parts... well, don't.

It lacks the pitch black humour of the Fallout series... In my opinion, without that iconic irony, post apocalyptia just seems too dry in a lot of films.

Its what I love about the Fallout series - it presents this desperate, hopeless abomination of a world yet doesn't take itself too seriously.

This film on the other hand, does look like its completely humourless. Too dry, ya know?
Actually, the first fallout game and number 3 took themselves seriously, but with some humour. the second one went overboard with the jokes.

Seems to me to be the bastard child of Fallout 3 and The Road, with the latter's bleak, depressing nature.

Then again, Fallout itself was nothing but a giant homage to Mad Max when you got right down to it---including Dogmeat.

its nothing of fallout. apocalyptic wasteland =/= fallout. jesus. fallout isn't JUST that... >.>
Relax... it was just an observation on the look of the film.

yeah cause Mad Max never did the whole post apocalypse thing or Fist of the North Star or many other things, it was only Fallout 3 that has done that.

seriously go learn some film history first
I simply said it reminded me of Fallout, due it being in a nuclear wasteland. It's not uncommon to associate things with something you are familiar with.

'Learn some film history?'

Please. Get over yourself.

Just because Mad Max did it first doesn't mean an association shouldn't be made.

Denzel with a sword?. Sure I'll watch it, it's the entertainment industry and this looks like good entertainment so yeah..why not?.

Besides, I don't judge anything till I have seen it.

actually Mad Max wasn't the first one to do it, now where close to being the first one.

why should i get over myself when i'm telling you to go learn something before you go making overly stupid statements that they took stuff from a game that has ripped off tons of different post apocalyptic movies and stories in the past.

i still stand by my statement that you should go learn something about film and sci-fi history before making that Fallout 3 comment

yeah and don't get your panties in a bunch cause people are calling you on it

And if you're going to be a pedantic critic of other peoples posts you should learn how to spell and how to punctuate your sentences.

You should try using capital letters sometimes, it would make your argument come across a bit clearer.

How about you educate me in your encyclopedic, omniscient knowledge of post-apocalyptic movies, and in return I'll educate you on the purpose of caps? Fair deal?

I am SO. SO. SO. FUCKING SICK OF PEOPLE SAYING, "Lolz book of eli is liek fallout 3 in movie form"

No it is fucking not! It has a completely different plot, setting, and universe. Just because it takes place in a wasteland does not magically make it fallout 3 the movie.

Looks like a good action movie based in The Capital Wasteland a post apocalyptic environment. Have to badger my friend to take me as I'm too cheap to pay for much now.
Yeah. And Denzel Washington has a shotgun-sword.
I'm sold.

Is that Gary Oldman as the villain.

He plays good psycho villains, as in Leon and The Fifth Element.

I saw the trailer

me and my friends were ABSALOUTLY certain it was Fallout - The Film

Josh said "nah, it's just Denzies Washington killing guys"

But when The Book of Eli came up on screen, I began crooning

"I don't wanna set the woooorld on Fi-eerrr! I just want to starrt, a flame in your haaarrt"

I got racous laughter from at least three groups of people around the cinema I didn't know

Hooray for communal in-jokes!

I agree. Without humor, misery just isn't fun. Like the book Oryx & Crake. Completely miserable while still being, in some disturbing way, utterly hilarious. It's a good mix.

I'll have you know I fell in love with the Post-apocolypse theme ever since I started playing Fallout 3.

First chance given, you can count on me looking forward to this movie as well as another post-apocolyptic movie titled '9'.

nope i won't ever use capitals unless i feel it's necessary, i'd rather cut the path instead of following it like some sheep.

also my spelling is correct, maybe you should learn how to spell a bit better

as for you "attacks" on me, you've decided to use the most stupid and frankly idiotic way of attacking my credibility. why not use facts instead of being a sheep of the people and saying i have to conform like everyone else. i'd rather stand out as my own person, so mostly no capitalization is a great way for me to do that, much like the great ee cummings

I am pretty psyched for this movie, it looks awesome! I won't let the hype get me but I do expect good things of this movie. Denzel usually comes through with good movies, so I have hope.

No one's attacking your credibility. You're doing that all by yourself.

And there's a reason to 'conform' to proper grammar when it comes to self expression on internet forums: so people understand what you're on about.

You want a proper argument? Here you go:

By your logic, no-one should make a comment about the similarity between two aesthetically similar things without first researching the entire history of the medium to find out if there was another thing which used that aesthetic first.

Which quite frankly, is utter rubbish.

Example:

Me: 'Oh look, the blood in Gears of War is red. That's so gory it reminds me of God of War'

You: 'Please, other things like Mortal Kombat did that long ago. Loads of games have red blood. Learn some game knowledge.'

What kind of a person criticises someone else for pointing out a valid similarity between a movie and a game just because the game was recent?

People compare things with other things they are familiar with. If that pisses you off you're going to have a frustrating life.

But good luck 'cutting the path' and pioneering your new cap-less revolution.

actually you're the only one making the statement about my grammar and wrongly about spelling, so yes you ARE attacking it :)

maybe you should learn the definition of the words and terms before you go using them.

also if you can't understand what i'm saying cause i don't use capitalization, then you should go polish up your reading and comprehension skills. if something as simple as a lack of capitalization makes you unable to read or comprehend things, you've got issues reading and understanding the written word.

wow you just made an even more stupid argument than before. i'm not even sure how to respond to something that is full of points that isn't even near correct nor what i was even saying. you're really grasping at straws and doing it very poorly.

seriously you should go work on your reading and comprehension skills first and then maybe go take some lessons in thought before you go trying to make points and arguments that don't even make sense

you will also notice that i'm not the only one who pointed out how flawed your argument of it being a Fallout 3 ripoff was. the fact that you admitted you were a fanboy made your argument moot from there in because it meant you had no idea what you were talking about and you've further demonstrated it
