Forever War, by Joe Haldeman. So you can actually understand what the fuck war is, instead of the idiocy and/or satire that is Starship Troopers.

Gulliver's Travels. Because satire is a good thing.

King Lear, MacBeth and other Shakespearian tragedies. The power of langauge carried within is....unsurpassed.

I would personally reccomend the first four books of the Sword of Truth, but none thereafter, lest you become overwhelmed by Goodkind's idiot politics and inability to maintain consistency.

The Communist Manifesto, and, immediately thereafter, The Wealth of Nations. Just so you know what capitalism and communism actually are, and do not become overly enamoured with the one at the expense of your understanding.
