That's one hell of a shot, followed by two more hell of a shots.

Although its a bit worrying about the other sniper at the end, wonder where he got his training.

*snip* And we all know the worst [accent] would be welsh. Nobody would believe him. "Well I was sat in my armoured vehicle boyo..."
Welsh accent is well tidy, butt :O

OT: Wow, a mile and a half. That's a hell of a shot, even with a pinch of luck. Well done to the man.

A shame we don't see more of this sort of thing in the news.

Hmmm... very interesting...
Still, it was killing another human being...
Will there ever be a day when humans stop fighting humans, and fight something else, united? >.>
Anyway, good for him, setting a new record.
We always have a giant squid.

Although thanks to Zack Snyder, maybe not...

Seeing Brits argue about accents in this thread is kinda funny. I mean, obviously they don't have accents to each other, but being an American means its like watching a bunch of people with accents argue about not having accents.

Ah well, I'm sure I sounded really odd while I was in London.

Oh right, OT: Man that's fucking badass. I wish I could do that.
Listen a to geordie speaking then listen to someone from liverpool. There is a massive difference. It's amazing how many accent this country has considering its size. You only have to drive 45 minutes down the motorway to encounter a new one.
You've got a good point there.

That's a great story, really impressive. It always amazes me what a well trained soldier can do with a sniper rifle.

Though, I am disappointed that I can no longer say that the longest sniper shot ever is held by a fellow Canadian. That was a great point for debating Canadian v. American Armed Forces.

Well Canada is still technically part of the commonwealth. Just say all British achievements count as Canadian ones too.

Don't the ppl overlooking all this on GPS and stuff have better things to do than check who broke a record .... like helping their men stay alive.

Because he killed two guys, doesn't he technically hold the top two spots?
Hmmmm good point.

Also does disabling the weapon count as a third?
I mean technically he "killed" the weapon although it wasn't alive in the normal sense of the word.

Hey its a morale boosting, bragging rights, taliban-fear inducing achievement.

I'd say worth it.

I have only one thing to say about the British Army:

FUCK IT!
Mate the war is over. Get over it. Yes when we had to defend ourselves and had a shot at an united ireland it was justified. Now things are fair. Your giving the Nationalists a bad name.

The good fight is over and they where the ones that stopped a potential Catholic Massacre during 1969 when the provos didnt have the means too.

OT: Wow I want to see a record set for something else besides killing each other...
The words "Usain" and "Bolt" spring to mind?

This guy is a true soldier. Neutralizing two threats, then taking out the weapon so it cant be used to kill any of his fellow soldiers.

Then, he breaks BOTH of his arms, and cant wait to return to duty.

Any military would be proud to have him in their service.

So true man.
In all honesty that's badass but deserves
That man deserves a George cross what with all those injuries and he just went straight back in. He should be the model of the army.

See, this is why us Brits have the best army in the world! Of course, I think we can all agree that in terms of combat efficiency the UK troops are the best. When it comes to equipment and stuff, the US trumps us. If only we could have a government who actually care enough to send our Boys and Girls proper equipment and the sort of stuff US troops have (one thing I heard is that there's a device for vehicles, jeeps and stuff, that automatically cause IEDs to explode in contact with the vehicle while also shielding the vehicle from the blast - saved countless troops' lives, used by US forces, and made in England by an English firm - us Brits don't get access to them though because apparently the government "can't afford them").

As I say, combat training and efficiency, UK is best in the world. All other counts, US are best. And things like this help to prove it, and people like the UK Government are to blame when our troops die because of lack of equipment...

News of Harrison's success comes amid concern over a rival insurgent sharpshooter who in a five-month spree has killed up to seven British soldiers, including a sniper, in and around the Taliban stronghold of Sangin.
Anyone seen Enemy at the Gates?
apparently they sent a squad of SAS in and gave the guy a good thrashing after he killed another sniper
So not like Enemy at the Gates.
