Name: Gratianus

Age:25

Gender:Male

Appearance: Gratianus' Arab ethnicity is made very apparent by his dark skin tone. He stands about a head below most other men at 5'8 and is somewhat skinny. He often wears robes that are too big for him to conceal his many weapons and keeps his face covered as much as possible.

Why have you opted to join?: Gratianus was raised from his early childhood to be one of Marcus Aurelius' finest assassins who rarely failed to bring down those who plotted against Aurelius. He continued to serve under Commodus who was far too incompetent to make proper use of Gratianus' skills. Most of his targets were common men with little more than rumors of being rebellious to condemn them, but Gratianus served Commodus faithfully despite this out of loyalty and respect for his father. The final straw came when Commodus decided that Gratianus' knowledge of assassinations committed made him a direct threat to his regime and sent another assassin after him. Gratianus managed to survive but with every soldier in the empire on the lookout for him, he was forced into hiding. After hearing of the Brotherhood he is now finally going to stop running and fight back.

Job: Assassin

Religion: Atheist

Social Views: Gratianus doesn't really hate anybody. In his eyes there are really only those who are his enemies and those who aren't. He does not hate the former but recognizes that they have done or mean to do harm to him and must be gotten rid of as a result.

Weapon Type of choice: He prefers his bow and arrow for most assassinations but keeps a number of poison coated daggers and throwing knives hidden in his robes for close quarters combat.

Background Story:
Name: Makis Christopoulos

Age: 32

Gender: Male

Appearance: He has short black hair that has a slight curl to it. It's flat and uncooperative making it difficult to alter it's look and shape as it hangs on his forehead just above his light green eyes. His jaw line is the most noticeable part of his face due to his high jaw line.

He stands about 6ft 5in tall and despite his career as a warrior his fairly gangly due to his large hands and feet while his arms a legs a thin compared to other, shorter warriors. His arms show some muscle tone but quickly seem nonexistence due to his height.

His body has become a canvas for scars from burns and gashes from years of battle under the Roman banner. He has a large scar on his abdomen from a nearly fatal wound cased during the Germanic Wars. Others range from various lengths and shapes, like the scar on his forehead in the shape of a ring.

Why have you opted to join?: Revenge and to dethrone Commodus to save Rome and to avenge Makis lose of his father. He wished to finish the work Commodus's sister started.

Background Story: Makis was born and raised in Athens, much like the rest of his family. His mother, Cassandra, was a merchant and his father, Aetos, a proud Roman warrior, much like his father and grandfather before him on the Christopoulos estate; the Christopoulos family was, after all, a respected military family.

When Makis was old enough to hold a sword and fight his father would train him for long hours on sword play and the history of their family. With everything from swords and shields to bow use under his belt Makis was well versed in combat by the time he enlisted in the Roman military.

While in the military Makis fought bravely to defend Rome and his emperor for years until Lucius Arrhenius Commodus became emperor. At first Makis had hope that Commodus would rule like his father had, that is until Commodus had shown his true colors. Makis's father had shown dislike for Commodus. To him a leader isn't just about wars and killing but about bringing peace to his country.

He was open in his dislike for Commodus to the point of being noticed by high ranking Roman officers. One night, when Makis was 25, Commodus's loyalists came to the Christopoulos's estate asking for Makis's father. Before he had time to speak a word the loyalists impaled Aetos with a sword as Makis watched in horror. The loyalists gave a stern warning to the family about disrespecting Commodus's rule and that Aetos will be used to make an example for all others the dare to speak ill of the emperor.

From that bleak night Makis forswore to see to it that the tyrant of a leader would lose his throne even if it meant Makis's death and he left the military to do so not long after.

Job: Roman Warrior.

Religion: Polytheism, to be more specific he worships Minerva, the goddess of wisdom and being Roman incarnation of Athena; also due to his life in Athens. He even proudly wears a medallion inscribed with Minerva's symbol of an owl.

Social Views: Complete and utter distant for the emperor due to the death of his father.

Weapon Type of choice: Two one handed swords, one was his father's that he's used since his death and the other was his when he served in the military. Both are his most prized possessions.

Name: Gaius Novicus
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Appearance: [This part of the application form has been written by a Brotherhood recruiter] Gaius is a handsome young man, and his ability to draw attention to himself is only lesser to his ability of enjoying himself while in the center of events. His exotic blond locks and bright-green eyes are sure to have charmed more than just a few young ladies down the line.

Gaius is average in both height and build, yet still has a sort of slenderness about him when he moves- graceful, as in everything he does.

Why have you opted to join: I wish to save my sister from her marriage with Commodus. It was a forced marriage, she does not love him- as well as avenging my father?s death.

Moreover, Commodus is no emperor- he?s hardly even a man. I will shed no tears when his corpse is paraded through the city.

Background Story: I come from one of the wealthiest merchant families in Rome, and thus the empire. My father was a great man. In addition to being a member of the senate, he built up his trading empire from nothing under Emperor Aurelius, and they knew each other well. My mother was a slave brought as a gift or article from a trading expedition to the conquered areas in the north, but my father loved her dearly and before long had freed and married her.

Those were happy days for the family. Before many years had passed Mother had given birth to my older brother, Tiberius, and me and my twin sister, Gaia.

No fairytale lasts forever, though. When the old emperor died, one of the first things Commodus did, I believe, was to order the assassination of my father. He and the old Emperor had been too close, and since my father was an honorable man, he would never have accepted the rule of the new jester- he did not even try to hide this fact. It was called ?an accident under mysterious circumstances? when my father?s best boat sunk with him on it a few miles from the docks. No witnesses, no survivors.

A 25 year old Tiberius was then forced to pick up the role as patriarch. He did his best, but he was not father- the empire shrank and crumbled before his eyes without his father?s contacts and experience. Shortly thereafter came the wedding proposal from Commodus. I recalled the old days and the invites to the palace with father and the old Aurelius; Commodus had already back then eyed my sister with desire, but some part of me had hoped he would have forgotten about her by now. This confirmed what I had long known, Emperor Commodus is an animal, an animal who has destroyed my family and needs to be put down.

Job : Trained trader, diplomat and aristocrat.

Religion: Roman polytheistic.

In practice he is more of an atheist, though he would never admit it. He also has a fascination of Germanic pagan religion and culture
Social Views (Discrimination / Hatred): I was more or less raised by slaves captured from all over the empire and beyond it, as my parents seldom had time to tend to me. It would be very odd of me to hold a sentiment against any person based on the color of his skin.

Women are a different matter, I?ve seen women prove their stupidity and simple minds to me many times. But, I suppose, the same would go true for men. I remember my mother telling me about her society, where women would often hold important positions.
Perhaps they can be no better than the society that shapes them?

Weapon Type of choice: I carry only my Sword most of the time. I am an excellent duelist man to man, but I have no schooling in battlefield tactics and fighting styles.

Alright now keep in mind I'm basing the rights of Jews on what they were like at the time, which wasn't great (surprise surprise)

Name: Servia

Age: 19

Gender: Female

Appearance: I am dark skinned and haired, my eyes are blue and I am of a fair height. While I may not appear muscular I am rather strong, do not underestimate me.
Servia is a beautiful, half Jewish woman. Her dark, soft skin and silky black hair are inherited from her mother, yet her father gave to her a slender nose and soft blue eyes. Standing, Servia is slightly tall and rather slender, her frame is skinny and wispy yet she is rather strong despite her fair frame. Servia walks with a certain flow, her long slender legs make her appear as though she is gracefully sliding across the ground.

Much to Servia's chagrin she often fetches the attention of men, mentioning the fact she is a half Jewish daughter of a slave is often a good way to be rid of them.

Why have you opted to join: I have nothing else to live for, my mother is dead and I cannot stand to be a reminder to my father, I am a half Jewish, freed slave woman! I know how corrupt our leader is, he must be taken down and I hope that at least I can contribute to something in my life.

Background Story: My mother was the only survivor of her family, much like many other Jewish people, her family was killed by the Romans. Being the only survivor, they did to my mother what they did to every other survivor of their ruthless pursuit for territory. Slavery. At the age of 18, she was given to a young man as a gift, he was but twenty at the time and was taken aback by the beauty of his slave woman. They quickly fell in love, hidden from his family of course, but it was an affair that had the passion to rival any love in the world. Sextus Villias kept my mother as a slave the rest of her life, yet he treated her as though she was her queen. Without the guise of slavery the two would be separated, unable to be with the ones they loved. A few years later I came along, in public I was the child of a whore, Jew slave, but at home I was treated wonderfully. My father couldn't have been more of a wonderful man, me and my mother were his entire world, his love for us would last forever.

Then my mother got sick, she quickly died and my father and I were left to mourn. My father was not himself for many months, he treated me no different yet in his mourning he became sickly himself. Lack of sleep, lack of proper food, my father began spending all his time in the house, all he had left was his lovers daughter, a practical mirror image of the beautiful woman.

I realized what I had to do, I was blessed with the beauty of my mother, but to my father it was a curse. His love was dead, and there was I, a constant reminder of that which he had lost. I approached him one day, as I claimed to be desperate for a taste of freedom, I held back the tears that began to form. A week later I left his house, I plan not to ever return, as much as it pains me to never see my father again, I cannot bare to be that reminder.

Job : None

Religion: Roman polytheistic/Judaism

She follows and was taught both beliefs, she believes it does not matter what god she believes in, as long as she keeps faith.

Social Views (Discrimination / Hatred): I do not 'hate' anyone, we are all children of god and the earth. The only anger I can hold is toward people who do house hatred toward another person. We are all brothers and sisters, why must we treat others as though they are lesser?

Weapon Type of choice: I have never been formally trained with a weapon, however I am intelligent and agile, I feel I could be trained. I am also useful off the battlefield, my beauty and intelligence are as powerful a weapon as any sword.

I'm sure we will start when Sextus declares it to be so.
Just going to check all the sheets, interrogate some of the reserves who haven't posted we'll be on our way. I apologise that we have to start on Monday, but I have DofE all weekend (if I'm lucky, I'll start on Sunday afternoon)
