Maybe I was playing the game "wrong," but I found the demo to be CRAP. If anything, this thing has DISsuaded me from wanting to get the game. Yes the voice work and writing was good (as should be expected given the voice talent and writers), but as far as the actual GAME went, it was another story. The control scheme was quite unintuitive (although this may be remedied by a remapping feature later,) Eddie didn't seem able to move in a full 360 degree style, the character cutscenes were a little TOO reminiscent of how they were in "Psychonauts" (Eddie's mouth moved just like Raz's and even the walking movements were the same) and like all demos, it was punishingly short. Yes the game has a nice "style" to it and definitely pays homage to heavy metal, but the gameplay issues seem to be too much for me. Anyone else feel the same way?
It is nothing more than a rental for me. It felt like a few games out there where they push the "this is art, not meant to be screwed up by you the player." I am sorry but if you are ging to put me into physical combat where there is no chance of me dying you are wasting my time with these little minions.

Yeah. Its the begining of the game, up untill you kill that weird worm thing. It was really good. The absolute highlight was when eddie drives the walker by using an evil prayer.

"Hey uhh evil spirits.

I am but a traveler in you world. That some would call helish, but i have to admit, its prettey badass. If I could talk to whoever is in charge, get some answers, that would be swell..."

Hillarious.

I actually had no interest in the game until i found out that it was made by DoubleFine. The same company that made Psychonauts, the best game that nobody played.

I got the demo and was pleasantly surprised. So far it looks like a fun hacky-slashy game with rock solos that will blow your mind.

I especially liked when it asked me if i wanted to hear profanity, Being given two choices.

1. I want to hear every raunchy syllable

2. No, it's funnier if you bleep it

This game is friggen awesome, Jack Black is hilarious and the writing is top notch!

Though it's not perfect. The camera angels were a little frustrating at times, and am I the only one who was a little pissed that the demo took 2hrs to down load but the game play only lasted 15min???

I enjoyed it (even if it felt a tad generic at first). As usual, the dialog is great and i love the Riggs' facial animations. Oh, and the game's menu is fantastic

Dammit, I've been away from home all weekend so I've been unable to download it yet...
Tomorrow I will download, and if it's not awesome, I blow up the planet.

I've downloaded it, but I haven't tried it yet. I'll post my thoughts on it after I do.

Have any of you guys played it yet? What'd you think?
I just played it, and while driving the Deuce was a little awkward, it was generally awesome. I've gotta ask, though--has anyone else spotted some graphics problems on the PS3 version? I noticed some screen tearing, and the framerate kind of sputtered at times...

I've played it and I think it's fucking awesome.

As an old Metalhead I found the entire premise and opening scene is a great antidote to how shit metal has become, so I was sold on the opening cutscene alone.

The gameplay is great fun, some may call it a bit generic, but I love all those hack'n'slash type games, so it's right up my alley, and I found the controls intuitive and easy to handle.

The music is excellent and I love the presentation, like at the beginning how the intro to Children of the Grave continuously loops until you pick up the axe, then it unleashes it's awesomeness and you unleash your awesomeness.

The humour is a bit cheesy, but it fits in perfectly with the great pompousness that is Classic Heavy Metal.

I actually like it so much that I'm not going to buy it immediately (because it's released at the same time as Forza 3 which will demand a lot of my attention), but instead I'm going to get it as a Christmas present, because it's just a little bit special and it will be great to play with my brother at Christmas (he likes Classic Metal too and isn't much of a gamer, but I'd love to share the experience of going through the story for the first time with him).

I don't even like metal and I thought the demo was pretty decent. I showed it to my friend today and he thought the same. Maybe I'll buy it used some time down the road.

Awww *tear*

Such is the power of the mighty Metal - it can melt your face off as well as forge a bond of brotherly love.
