I have decided to make a guide for making gamertags, screennames, ect. to try and improve the quality of the future ones.
Rule 1: Make it pronounceable.
Don't make it JDFTWaQ45 or Frwuntiger, people won't be able to tell you to move or shoot and it just looks dumb.
Rule 2: For the love of god, DON'T PUT X's!
It is so annoying having 3/4 of the team named xXUberNukeXx or XGayNinjaX. It does nothing to make you seem cool, all it does is show-off your susceptibility to conformity. Only put X's if they are actually how you spell it, like XrayMaX.
Rule 3: Don't try and put curse words in it.
Seriously, come on. You won't get away with HugeA55 or Ilike2Fu(K or even $#!+Face, people WILL figure it out and you will be reported. Not to mention, you are broadcasting to the world "LOOK AT ME! I AM AN IMMATURE IDIOT!"
Rule 4: Don't put the year you were born on the end.
If your GT is MegaAssassin98, people will figure out that you are young and will probably insult you for it. Also, you will probably not be taken seriously at all.
Rule 5: Don't make a reference to a passing fad.
You will be stuck with your gamertag for awhile, so don't make it JonasBros4ever, only to find out that they are all babyeaters. Also, if you make your gamertag Naruto364927 or some other reference to a TV show, make sure that you won't grow sick of it anytime soon.
Rule 6: Don't make references to controversial topics.
If you make your gamertag KKKLover3256, NaziFire89, or W33d4life420, you will be insulted and ridiculed, even if you aren't really like that at all.
Rule 7: Don't put excessive numbers in your gamertag.
Please, don't make your gamertag ubergamer46387, it is just annoying and shows your unoriginality. It also makes me wonder if there are 46386 other ubergamers.
Rule 8: Stop the assassin/shadow crap.
Stop making your gamertag _____assassin. This crap is every where. In about half the games I play, there will be someone with assassin or shadow in their name. It is just so unoriginal.
Rule 9: Capitalize it.
Although this isn't a significant problem, it's your name. It should be capitalized. It makes people take you more seriously. Who seems more mature? Slyman43 or slyman43?
Rule 10: Don't make it all caps.
When your gamertag is ALIENKILLER223, it gives people the impression that you are trying to be heard by yelling, which is a sign of immaturity. Thus, putting you GT in all caps makes you seem IMMATURE.
Rule 11: Avoid using leetspeak.
If you call yourself 5up3rdud3hax0r, you come off looking like a pushover. If you must use it, be sure that it is placed appropriately, or BigDud3Hax0r ends up looking like BigDudHax
Rule 12: GOOD GOD, DON'T PUT MLG!
By calling yourself MLGKillamon, you have now successfully labeled yourself as a wannabe. Even if you really are MLG, you should be able to show it in the game, instead of having it stamped onto your gamertag.
Rule 13: If a name you wanted is taken, don't add a 1 to the end. Don't modify it barely so it's acceptable. If you meet the guy with the original name, it could be awkward. And you could be classed as a poser. -Nox13last
Rule 14: Don't put your gamertag lIkE tHiS where it hurts my eyes to the point of blindness. -topsyturvy
Rule 15: If it took you less time to think of your name than it does to type it, you lose. -Ultrajoe
Rule 16: Don't put "666" in your name, it singles you out as a faggy goth kid. -Whistler777
Rule 17: Anyone who uses a name that clearly indicates they are either male or female should get bonus points. COME ON, people! Humans are always denoted as either male or female in proper English. -JMeganSnow
Rule 18:- Any name pertaining ill will toward 'noobs' (Noobslayer). EVERYONE is a noob in SOMEONE'S eyes.
- Any of the following Non-Words: Crzy, Azn (Asian), Boi, and Grl/Grrl. Would it kill you to use some more vowels? Your name isn't going to overload the servers!
- And dammit, people. SPELLING, okay? Okay. -DMShade
Rule 19: I think we need to add that if its necessary to add a number, please please don't make it either 69 or 117. Its just so bland, unoriginal and unfunny it hurts... -Beefcakes

Rule 23: Don't put special characters in your name if you don't actually mean the sound they symbolize. Don't call yourself "Hëllø" if you mean "Hello". Because chances are you'll run into someone who actually has those letters in his or her native language. And then you'll look stupid. -Nomadic
Rule 24: If Microsoft Sam sounds like he is projectile vomiting when you plug in your gamertag, you violated at least one of the other commandments. -Chiefmon's Mom
