The cover art for Elder Scrolls: Arena is embarassing.

That thing's 17 years old. Yeah it's silly and stupid, but it's kind of late to point that out.

If you want something more current-event-ish, go with X-Blades. Or Heavy Rain, with its box art of all the characters on it but the woman highlighted and wet.

It's never too late to criticize or praise something.

Have you heard the things some people have said about Final Fantasy VII long after it's release?

Or what Spoony has said about all of the ones that came after it?

Heck, what's the job of the nostalgia critic?

I don't understand it. Why does it matter if it's 17 years old?
Because that sort of thing is somewhat justify 17 ago compare to the present day therefore they can get away with it. It the same thing with some the present day generation cannot grasp how we were able to play such 8 bits game or watching such cheesy cartoon.

You can only truely understand if you did lived and experiences in that era. Heck this was when back in the day there was a thing called a cheat book, TV ceral and fast food were allow to advertise toys to the kid and no such thing as a health snack for kids in Mcdonald and etc.

Honestly you are kind of late to it, it there and cannot change and even then in this modern day there are a few one or two sexist related stuff like e.g. Dead Or ALive girls, the Mortal Kombat girls and Ivy from Soul Calibur etc.

I am sure glad Bethesda learned their lesson and stopped doing this right away. All the other cover art for their others looks cool, like an old book. And not downright sleazy like this.

I mean, good Lord.

Just thought you Skyrim fans might like to see just how far the franchise has come in terms of cover art.
I doubt it, more like they had move on with the time.

This is a section about video games. Almost nothing is super duper important here.

It's amusing to look back on those old cover and see how much Elder Scrolls covers have improved. And how embarrassing that old one was, like an old year book photo.

Can't tell if trolling or just not smart.

How else do you sell to undersexed human males?
Back in the 90s, we didn't have the "sex appeal" that being smart is nowadays. Nowadays, we get the monies for being smart, which brings in all those who want to steal it.

Oh the pointless minuscule things that get peoples' panties in a twist these days...

I can see no problem whatsoever with said cover, and is rather perplexed that people would create threads about their strictly personal opinion on how good the cover of a 17 year old game looked back when it was on sale.

...assuming of course it's not some puritanical "lets all agree that sexuality and the use thereof in commercial products is bad" thing.

Do we allow each other to call people names around here? Because that doesn't right.

Oh, I thought they cared about gameplay, too.

Then why did the opening post seem far more like an angry rant on sexism rather then a joking 'oh look at the silly 90's artwork'.

There is definitely some pressure for men to look good. And fat men are quickly condemned as "ugly looking".

However, the is not near the industry around men looking good as women looking good.

Also, that woman is wearing a darned piece of lingerie, not a barbarian loincloth.

Jove, it's there for the "t & a", not artistry or making her look strong and feral. And she's almost completely naked, and the work is showing off said "t & a". It's pretty darn close to porn.
IF I'm not mistaken Isn't Skyrim's Boxart of Dragonborn as a guy? So the question is which is really worse.

A thin warrior woman in a fur-kini or "No girls allowed"on the cover
(see also DCUO Wonder Woman and Circe Catwoman do make it to the cover but they are behind everyone else in V-formation behind a user generated character of a guy)

I wonder if anyone will ever make a game where the canon character is a woman but they let you make your own like so many games do anyway but all the predefined cutscenes.(like Fallout 3's ending/opening of Broken Steel of a guy in the Armored Vault 101 suit)

Oh God, look at this disgusting box art! It's like some pervy girl's sordid dream. Don't boys and young men have enough pressure put on them to conform to aesthetic ideals? This is basically pornography! It's so undermining! They could have had the guy wearing a nice sensible sweater, a cardigan maybe, but noooooo, it had to be pecs out for the girls. What kind of sick female chauvinist do you think drew this pathetic fantasy scene? You can bet it wasn't a man.
That barbarian posted really falls completely short of objectifying men.

The guy looks powerful and strong. His posture and stance show that he doesn't need no freaking armour to beat that skeleton and bird-thing.

The Elder Scrolls woman however isn't posturing like that at all. She's posing, she's thrusting out her tits and ass so we can all get a nice good look at them.

Now if you want to see objectified men, have a look:

They're not even showing the faces of these guys...
You forgot to mention they're all written by WOMEN.

You're criticizing the boxart of a game that was released 17 years ago... Not the game itself. And from my point of view, you're femi-trolling. Whether its for attention or you seriously think you're doing something for your "cause", I have no idea, but I've noticed a trend in your posts recently. I don't feel that criticizing something that isn't even on the shelves of game stores anymore is helping your cause any. I honestly have not a clue what your intentions are but you do seem to be splitting hairs about something that has been around long enough to graduate from high school. Therefore its not really relevant...
I urge you to bring something to the table that is a present matter, not the past (esp. when you're dealing with a genre that was at the time populated by boys/men who more or less like to look at pretty women in skimpy clothes...). I guess my point is you're not going to change the minds and hearts of men who like to look at scantily clad women. It isn't as prevalent in the gaming world as it used to be however, and perhaps you should have commented on that instead of taking issue with an old cover.
Something like "Well we certainly have come a long way from {insert Arena cover here} to {insert Skyrim cover here}. Isn't it nice we don't have chainmail bikinis on our RPG covers anymore?"

Well, you see, it was silly because it was sexist.

You know, you're allowed to point out how amusingly stupid something was from the past. Aren't you?

Why does anyone care?
Whatever happened to sex being something we shouldn't be ashamed of?
Have you ever thought that maybe this particular woman wanted to wear a chainmail bikini?
Are you saying chainmail bikinis should be banned?
What if I want to wear one?
It offends you?
Well so what, nothing happens when you get offended, you don't suddenly develop leprosy or something.
