TES had vampires and werewolves before Twilight. Even their werewolf expansion was released before Twilight. I doubt their vampire expansion is a Twilight cash in.
Especially since these Vampires make the Meyerpires look like pussies....well even more so then usual.

Got side tracked and ended up doing the Aetherium quest first. Found it to be a cool addition, and the Chaurus Hunters were neat.

Only played a bit of it this morning but it seems pretty good. Did a bit of the vampire quest on my mage which was cool, the new vampire lord is awesome.
Loaded up my warrior to look at the new werewolf skill tree and am planning to start the quest again with him and join the Dawnguard. It's pretty cool so far, I am loving the new werewolf skill tree, especially that extra health.

It would be more correct to comment on how eerie it is that when these Elder Scrolls games came out, Twilight decided to wrap itself in that old, frayed blanket of vampires and werewolves.

They're not perpetuating cliches, there showing Edward Cullen how vampires really are!

I'm not getting it yet until I know exactly how much extra content there is - plus I have no interest in becoming a vampire and a whole perk tree centred around a crossbow seems a little lacklustre.

If I do get it, it won't be for a couple of weeks at least. I might just hold on though for their next expansion pack. Todd H said that their future DLC won't take so long to make, or have such a hefty price tag.

If you do get it, I'd love a PM letting me know if it's got around 8-10 hours extra content! It would give me a better reason to download it.

I think that other media needs more Vampires and Werewolves that can show Edward the Fairy and Jacob the overgrown mutt how badass real vampires and werewolves actually are.

Vampires are dangerous seducers who can and will lure you either to their ranks, or their next meal.

Werewolves are Dangerous wild beasts, who cause a lot of collateral damage when they turn, and any who have mastered their curse are a true force to be reckoned with.

Werewolves are not lovesick puppies, Vampires are not sparkle fairies who pine over self destructive airhead girls, both creatures would look at such a person and see only their next meal.

crap....i lost the topic.....oh yes, DAWNGUARD My werewolf will be joining their ranks as a Vampire Hunter, he will not be an attack dog for the vampires, though next playthrough i'll make a vampire lord.

I'll just have to wait for this to hit PSN.......Frigging microsoft. >_>

Its been pretty good so far. New werewolf perks make them playable on Expert now against powerful enemies and crossbows are awesome. Unfortunately the side questline you do to get all the crossbows/bolt schematics are radiant quests and I was sent to a bunch of dungeons I had already completed. T'was worth it for the dwemer crossbow though I am a bit confused... why didn't the Dawnguard just import dwemer crossbows from Morrowind?

How does the perk system work if you are alrdy at level cap???
Vampires and Werewolves gain perk points by feeding on enemys. Vampires do this by either using there absorb health magic attack or their heavy melee attack when your enemy is near death. Both can only be done in the Vampire Lord form. Werewolves only have to feed on corpses I think.

OT: Dawnguard is worth it.

Werewolves and vampires were staples in fantasy for a long time before they were bastardized by Twilight.

I never liked the main quest of Skyrim (still havent finished it), but Ive been playing Dawnguard and almost exclusively played the new quest lines, except for a few side quests that were available along the way.

What DG does better imo is pacing, your introduced slowly to each of the different facets of the story, and characters are more fleshed out and unique.

(Possible *spoilers* ahead)

The leader of the Dawnguard is just a plain psycho badass, and hes being pitted against an equally (if not moreso) psycho badass. And in between you have all these other interesting characters who range from super-powerful vampires to all around pathetic recruits, all the way to a polygamist Orc.

To me the characters just seem a bit more real and fun and not just Warrior from faction A vs. Warrior from faction B.

Dude. Crossbows.

Oh, and also, vampires that aren't crap, some gothic stylings, vampire/werewolf skill trees, new enemies, new characters...

Yeah, I'm pretty happy so far.
don't forget mounted combat, some new mounts and dragons diving under water then coming back up and attacking you at the same time? i think?. anyway that will make dragons even more unpredictable and stretching the dragons encounters a bit.

They can do that now? Hmm. That should make things...interesting.

It doesn't do that much in terms of combat. I faced two of them during the Volkihar Vampires questline and it didn't make the fight much more difficult, I was just disorientated when it started.

OT: Get Dawnguard for, if nothing else, the addition to the Falmer lore. It was absolutely brilliant seeing what I saw when I played it and learning what I learned. I'm not going to give anything away outright but you learn quite a bit about the Falmer.

Also being a Vampire Lord is pretty fun, though bothersome when traversing some dungeons.
