I really don't know what I'd do with that kind of money. Maybe go out to eat a lot and piss off waiters and flat out tell them I'm not tipping them, only to pass them a grand later. Long story short, I'd just find ways to be a troll. After the first million to settle my debts and the debts of my extended family, there isn't much else to do.

a lot of people seem to want to help others out with the money. Which is good, because they wouldn't want to Gates themselves off from the outside world just because they are rich!
What is wrong with you? First it was that lava one and now this! [sub]Okay they are pretty hilarious[/sub]

OT: Spend, spend, spend! Buy everyone in Australia a slice of pizza then move onto getting the Guiness for "Most video games owned".

Private space program, focusing on low cost launches, in-situ resource extraction and on-orbit manufacturing culminating in the construction of the first space colony.

I'd make all my dreams come true.

Huge ass, $50 million appartment in Amsterdam, half a seconds walk from the nearest coffe shop.

Then I'd hit the bong in front of my 63 inch Plasma TV and ponder about my newfound wealth!

I would go out for a week in the city and give every homeless guy I see 5 grand. Enough cash to rent a house for a bit. Get some food, maybe sort out some legal stuff to get a tax file no. (I think it is called a social security no. in america) so they can get a job and so on. Would be curious how many could make a break on that cash.

I'd send 2/5 of the money to charity, 1/5 to Microsoft, 1/5 to Bill Gates' family members and the remaining to my account. I'll buy video games almost for free, and I'll get a better computer.

If not, i would go and buy the nearest shopping center and go nuts.

Simpsons fan are we?

I'll be dull enough to say I'd give a lot to charity. Then pay my student loan, buy myself an apartment building, have it renovated to house only me and a few friends, and fill one of the many swimming pools with money so I could play Scrooge McDuck.
Then buy an island somewhere...

After making sure it's no con, and that there's no catch, obviously...

well.. his will is already written... Most of that money is ending up in charity. About 250k is going to each of his children, amongst a couple of other things.

Besides, he's not technically the richest man in the world anymore. Some random African businessman is, can;t remember his name.

one of those Nigerian princes we hear so much about? They seem to have to much money they're giving it away.

Take over the world by financing numerous unstable economies until they owe me so much that I effectively own them. Good times!

Not sure that I'm following the people saying 'I'd put some of it into savings'. Savings?! Are you aware how much the man is worth? You wouldn't need to have a pension fund set up!
