ED had some better and more plentiful pictures than, say, Know Your Meme. However, it purposely bombarded all who went there with ads and prided itself on being Not Safe For Work.
Personally, I will not lose any sleep over this.

Wait, it's gone? When did this happen? I only went there once, as it's a vile place, but I did know about it. Strange that ED is no more.

EDIT: It's amazing how many people are so hurt by that website. ED wasn't trying to be crappycracked.com, or knowyourmoneymakingmemes.com
It existed to report sincerely on internet culture. That's it. If it offended you, then you shouldn't be on the intronet.
It's not that it offended me. It's that I'd like to read about Boxxy and Shoop da Whoop without having to deal with toon porn banner ads with the words FAP FAP FAP FAP FAP FAP FAP flying all over the place. That sort of thing just isn't my "thing."
The site told everything as it was and as it happened, so there was a lot of material that normal advertisers wouldn't want to be associated with. So ED had to choose the scummy advertisers to generate an income and to keep the site open.

I discovered ED about two days before it it was replaced, and for those two days, I laughed my ass off. It was gross, offensive and deliberately awful, but in a good way.
What we're left with is just a Knowyourmeme rip-off, and a pretty poor one at that. ED was a unique thing, and it's a damn shame it was destroyed so entirely. I lament its passing greatly.

The Internet just got a little shittier.

Even a week later, I'm still shocked at the overnight annihilation of the site and the rebirth as Oh Internet. For all the disgusting and disturbing shit that was on ED, it was a cornerstone of internet culture. The shock and awe articles were intended to provoke, and the new site just seems to be giving into being just another meme wiki.

As sick and gross as Encyclopedia Dramatica was, I am sad to see it go, and I truly hope that someone archived it on their own before it was destroyed.
ED simply took things too far, too often. Some woman made a meme so they call her a stupid whore and a slut and they just over do it. I'm surprised if anyone can spend too long on that site in one sitting. I went on it once or twice and just said "Are they going to explain why this ACTUALLY became popular? Or are they just going to sit there calling this personal an immature *%&-munching *%(#&@^ &%(%)# (censored as I'm not sure if anyone would hate the language)

Well, haven´t been there for quite some time anyway.
I just felt like there were much easier ways to get gay porn.

Encyclopedia Dramatica came across more as purely hateful than anything.
There's only so much you can exaggerate and push something before it stops being funny, and starts painting the creators in a very disturbed light.

I just ignored it and moved on. Its demise has no impact on my browsing habits.

It's gone? What happened exactly?

I don't care about it, it was a cesspool that constantly crossed the line, but I am curious what it did to end it's run.

I just can't understand why the creators of the site changed their Shock Value website into a ripoff of know-your-meme. The reason people went to ED was because it was offensive. It was the purest form of expression: Write whatever the fuck you want and be an asshole.
I particularly enjoyed their gaming articles and pop culture things. It was such a "fuck this shit" approach to everything and always made me laugh a hell of a lot. I loved the articles about DND, Street Fighter etc. You didn't have to go there and look at the offensive and gross shit, there was far more to it, but I liked some of that stuff anyway. Anybody who took the place seriously needed to get their head checked.

I'm really annoyed it's gone and I feel the internet lost a great soldier :(

I loved that site, not necessarily the content, but what it was. It was the mirror to the internet that said: this is all the gross and disgusting shit you do, this is the cruel and intolerant ways you treat each other; for the world to see and laugh/vomit at. It was the collection of the worst things about the internet, then put them on display to show how utterly fucking stupid it all was.

Godspeed, you wretched pile of...us.

Meh. All the humour eemed to be was called people ____fags, and to be honest, that wasnt excatly hilarious.

Sure, sure, take the piss out of people. But when the same insult is pretty much all they did (along with porn, of course) is wasnt in the end that funny.

Oh yeah, it also gave me a virus that fucked up my computer.

Good bloody riddance. I won't lie, some of what I read there was funny, but then some of it was Ricky Gervais on a bad night; crude, disgusting, needlessly vulgar, purposefully offensive. It was an amateurish puerile mess that had more misses than hits.

I will miss how it, in a way, kept me on the pulse of things. I had no freakin' idea what Habbo was until ED, or blackup, or "YOU DUN GOOFED".
