It has not happened to me once, but I am getting a new xbox because my first gen one does not have disc pads preventing it from shifting in the drive while turning (another big problem with the first gen of 360 releases) this results in scratching of the discs. I'm horrified to play games in it since it destroyed my copy of mass effect.

I disagree Reg5879. My PS3's controllers wouldn't work correctly when I recieved a phone call via my blue tooth headset. The optical audio output did not output dolby digital audio to my reciever. At random times, during random games, the controllers would "wig out" and force me to restart the system. I sold my PS3 as soon as possible since it was nearly impossible to play games online due to these hardware issues.

Also, I've had the RRoD 8 times and I'm still happier with the 360 more than the PS3.

funny thing is that I saw the same thing, i laughed and pointed it out to the store assistants. They looked confused as they didn't know what it meant

Wireless died on mine ... no wireless controllers would connect whether new or used (wired worked fine)

About a month later the RROD ... sent her off and voila wireless is back ... for free

I came home from school with a friend one afternoon, pumped and ready to play Halo 3. I turn on my 360, RRoD. Apparently I cried.

Here was you mocking me for having 5 dead boxes, one collapsing a single day after purchase...

Ahh, irony, "I wont get it."

If you're not eligible for the extended warranty from Microsoft or if you don't want to wait, there's probably a video game store near you that can do the necessary repair for a nominal fee. I have a Play-N-Trade two stores down from where I work who can fix RRoD for about $60 (U.S.D.)

Heh, yeah.. sure..

I don't see how it's better, considering Graphical differences are almost nonexistent and the 360's controller not sucking and having a crappy sixaxis.

you can get an extended warranty anytime. (You get an RRod warranty for three years when you get your 360) The extended warranty if 25 for one year, 50 for two years.

well the first time I got it I had the xbox for five months, then when it got returned it died the day after. they sent it back worked okay-ish for awhile. then it broke again so they had to send it to Czechoslovakia to fix it because the repair warehouse in England was above maximum capacity. I got it back about a month and a half later and it wouldn't turn on with out several pushes to a certain rhythm and even then it would occationaly freeze and the halo would be red even though it was working. sent it off again after a three hour talk to someone who spoke about 4 words of English on the phone reassuring them that I was sure it was plugged in. got it back after about three weeks to find that the heat from it's last crash managed to internally damage the wireless adapter rendering it useless so I can't get online any more. so I bought a PS3 and haven't had any hassle with it. apart from getting it online but that turned out to be my isp being funny, but the PS3 doesn't have a few dozen decent games the 360 does so I still have to buy them for it and can't go online with them.

I haven't gotten the RRoD yet, but I did send away my 360 to get it repaired because I suspect the disc reader got damaged. I'm just hoping they actually find something, I can't go through any more disc replacement bullshit.

Maybe you shouldn't visit this forum anymore.

I believe the RRoD is caused by the machine overheating repeatedly, causing the CPU to come loose. Hence newer models having extra heat sinks installed. If in doubt, ventilate the damn thing, stick a fan on it or shove it in a fridge - problem solved :3

EDIT:

Wait, so you purchased a console merely to avoid the issues plaguing a different console? Huh, and some people think getting one merely for the games on it is a little pointless.

As long as fanboys can keep their damn mouthes shut, this will all go smoothly.

Firstly, my controller has never had problems and secondly, I would rather my controller fuck up than the whole system.

Xbox 360 got a headstart on PS3, so Xbox 360 would have more exclusives, but the only one that I would say that looks good is Dead Rising and maybe Gears Of War, Halo is just overrated. Also, PS3 has sold more consoles than Xbox 360 in Europe and Japan.

Right to try and break up the 360vs PS3 fan boy rage, I personally have had the RROD 5 times. That's right five fucking times, and almost every time a cool game was coming out. First was dead rising, second was halo 3( thought it would be cool) third was cod 4, fourth was nothing, and fifth was recently gears of war 2 ( hooray for senseless violence and horrible acting). Oh and I've also had 2 ps3s. The first one stopped reading discs, so not only the 360 has hardware issues. eat that for breakfast MR Reg5879. That's 5 to....2...meh whatever.
