The DSi is a rushed half-assed, desperatly and poorly executed job.

You're preaching to the choir, sir. Why don't you go to another forum where Nintendo hate isn't a dominant gene?
...What forum? c wut i did thar?

People should stop acting like this kind of thing is something new. Nintendo did this years ago with the original GameBoy.
Shhhh...you're ruining their poorly thought out arguments.

I mean really, why would the company that is still technically dominating the handheld market be doing something "desperately"?

But nevermind that. Personally I don't really care for the DSi but at this point I'm almost willing to buy it just because it might make people whinge themselves inside out just a bit more to know that its still selling so well.
It makes me laugh though that people really are complaining this much over a shorter battery life (which is somewhat fair) and no slot-2, because they have two other generations of DS that have it. Why do all three need a slot to play games on a handheld console that costs less than a tenner nowadays?

It boggles the mind why people can't just see this like the PSP-3000, something that has interesting enhancements but doesn't justify a purchase if you have a a previous console version already?

I'm not getting this, but if my DS phat died, the only reason I would get a DS lite is because of it having the longest battery life, otherwise I would consider getting the DSi.

I figured everything I wanted from a DS was from the lite. After all, it plays GBA games. What;s not to love about that?

I really don't get why they didn't release a DS-slot camera and a GBA slot media combo. You can use it with your original DS, without losing yet MORE backwards compatibility. You hear that game world? We *want* to be able to play old games on the new system.
Blame the people who fill their Slot 2 flash carts with pirated games.
Yes, damn you pirates who own an R4 chip!

Wait... *checks DS*

...

*removes R4 chip with 8 Gb of torrented games on it*

You guys aren't so bad after all...

I bought the DSi because of:

Its thinner, alittle bit.

The screen, alittle bigger.

The Internet, improved, its not great, but vastly improved and better than none

DSiware, i love downloading games. (And paying for them, just like music)

And for the GBA slot thing, i would agree with you 100%. Because theres tons of good titles on GBA.
But i don't have any GBA titles, and seeing the price tags on the games used, i don't plan on getting any either. (yes, i have checked the titles i was interested in)

Was anyone really expecting the DSI to be a good system? I thought not.

I bought the original, enjoyed it a for a little while. I haven't played it in years due to no good games coming out for it.

But the original one did that as well, so why not just buy an original and save yourself about £20? Only problem I can find is that the graphics aren't as good as they could be, but they are much better than original gameboy graphics.

I like the aesthetics of the DS lite. Also it is much easier for me to hold. I'm not sure why. It just is.

I'm glad you kept your "lack of a GBA slot" BS to a minimum. Yeah, there are a several DS games it will impact (some of them, like GH, it will impact a lot), and if you have a collection of GBA games, and don't have a DS/DSlite/GBA/GBASP.. then you're screwed.

But, I'd more be interested in the larger screens.. I don't care about the camera.. I have a camera.. I don't care about the online capabilities - I don't have the money to buy things on XBL, so I certainly wouldn't be buying things on a DSi.

The only real negative that you mentioned there is the battery life. How much reduced is it? 30%? 40? 50? If that's the case, I'm ashamed with Nintendo - the Gameboy line was based on using old technology to prolong battery life.. it was the largest selling point of the whole line..

Oh well.. I don't have money for a DSi anyway.. I don't even have many DS games. Still waiting for FFVDS and FFVIDS..

True, it doen't seem worth it. By the way, who here thinks Shigeru Miyamoto is finally running out of good ideas? (Or already out?)

I've long since run out of my glory days of nintendo.. I hardly played my GC, and never owned a Wii.. but I would never consider idly deprecating the Mozart of Mario.

He hasn't had his hands in all of nintendo's franchise games, but every one that he does touch becomes instant gold as if by some heavenly persuasion.

WEP is old? I still use it from time to time... I have no idea what the issue with it is.

Miyamoto was once a genius, but now I would say his glory days are leaving, I say this because of the crap that was Wii Music.
