It has beem a few years now science the release of the Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion and I was starting to wonder what the next installment in the series would look like. Does anyone have any thoughtsd on what the next series will be about, where the location will be or what any of the quests will look like, or any ideas of what should be in the Next Elder Scrolls game.

Well, they've set a game in a swamp and they've set it in a giant wooded area. Fallout 3 was mostly a desert so...maybe a forest during the Fall? It'd certainly be pretty and it worked in GTA IV.

Hopefully a better leveling system where they can achieve both goals - make it so that any encounter is always somewhat challenging at any level, but make it so that you actually feel like you're getting more powerful instead of just running in place. Most TES games try to fix the biggest problem with the previous one in the series, so this might be something they'll try for.

They've basically covered all the biospheres on earth in their latest installments (Oblivion had basically every environment except deserts, which Fallot 3 generously provided.) Therefore, I propose:

The Elder Scrolls V: Island Adventures!

Oh wait...damn.

They could do something extremely epic and cover the entire continent. It'd probably need a good deal of randomly generated content, but it could be done. It could even be done interestingly, if they do it right. Of course, something that huge would probably be more next-gen.

Didn't they copyright the name Skyrim? So surely it will be set there. I'll place no bets though. I think High Rock or Hammerfell would be interesting.

They're copyrighted the name The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, however they've also purchased "The Elder Scrolls Online" so a hint at either multiplayer or MMORPG (I hope not) Either way, I wouldn't hold my breath in hope of a release this side of 2012

It will be set on the ever-changing yet technologically ignorant planet of C'thorgant, and there will be 10 000 lines of dialogue for each character, and, as you kill every person on the planet, the CPU will generate new ones for you to rob, exploit and murder.

A leveling system that saw enemies level up as you do was one of the suckiest things about that game. As the other person mentioned, it felt like running in place, like you may as well not have leveled up at all. You weren't any more powerful. I just hope they change that in Elder Scrolls V.

I've heard rumours dating back awhile that the next one is planned to feature heavily the Khajiit down south in Elsweyr. They've done Hammerfell, Morrowind and Cyrodiil ... I figure they'll do it another place the havent mapped out yet ...

personally I think having an 'Elder Scrolls V: Retaking of Atmora' would be cool.

You could have barbaric Redguards and Nords that have been isolated from the civilised nations ... as well as weird, new, demonic creatures that personify the series.

Or perhaps Elder Scrolls V: Assailing Akavir. Akavir has such an awesome story .... plus it will inject some much needed new races into the mix .... Vampiric serpents, Monkey men, and Snow Demons = Awesome ....

Plus you could have a very cool Island hopping travel adventure ... like removing fast travelling and just having ships ... and instead of being able to buy homes .. you can buy ships .... so you can go wherever you want to, whenever you want to n.n

Like Have ships that are like ... moving homes ... where you can employ redguard sailors and so forth ....

Like your character is supposed to be a prisoner-turn-hero/ine who becomes a living legend in all infamy .... might as well make it feel like you have entire civilisations rooting for your cause by having platoons of men guard your stash, and charge with you into combat when you make landfall onto a new island ....

Customisable ships would be cool too ... like if you want to be a pirate ... you'd have a smaller ship with a company of pirates on board, with carronades as opposed to th Long Barrels .... or if you want to be a Mercenary/Council Navy Captain (Remember ... emperor's lineage = dead :x) you have giant Dreadnaught-class ships with enough long ranged firepower to level a freaking city @.@

Or if you want to be a trader and work with the newly establish 'Council's Akaviri Trading Company', and have 'Caraval' like ships which are quick .. and you accept contracts of varying dangers to pick up a load from some dangerous Ad Hoc settlement, take it onboard, and guard it from pirates .... as you make your way back to a specific port...

I think it would inject some cool new features ... like having to pay docking fees, and dry dock fees to repair your vessel ... as well as it would *finally* punish high level players who don't plan a dungeon foray.

Like you need to pack enough food and clean water onboard to survive the trip, or if you treat your men like crap you can have a possible mutiny ... the benefit of having your own ship instead of being ferried around though is that you can command it to go wherever you want, whenever you want .... allowing you to plunder different islands far more easily. As well as epic sea battles ... like imagine .. foggy night ... pirate ship attacks .... a huge broadside leaves your vessel damaged ... Pirates board the vessel to attempt to take it over forcing you to fight alongside your men to retake control ....

I think that would be SOOOOO Cool @.@ Instead of just purchasing a House that just sits there and makes you no money, nor charges you any rates for being there .... you buy a house and it's like "Yay! .... " and 4 minutes later you're bored and not likely to return to most of them.

And instead of being a prisoner!! How about you're a shipwreck victim!? At the start of the game ... so a quasi-prisoner on a desolate island ... whose rescued .. and immediately gains a bit of influence in a small port (your starting base of operations...) after helping your saviour fight off a band of pirates from a mutinous colony 'far to the north' (main storyline ... add magic, necromancy, or political assassination ... your pick)?

News has come up that ESV might be coming out in 2010.

And that it might take place in Skyrim!

ROCK ON! F*CKING VIKINGS! YEAH!

I like Skyrim.

In late October 2008, shortly after the release of Fallout 3, Bethesda's Publishing Executive, Paul Oughton, indicated that the series' fifth installment could be released in 2010.[3] Zenimax, the owner of Bethesda Softworks, had trademarked the name "Skyrim" in 2006,[4] but its relation to the fifth installment of the series is uncertain.

I know Oblivion had so many different enviroments, like generic English countryside, slightly marshy English countryside and the snowy bit around Bruma. So that's a total of three noticably different enviroments in Oblivion. As opposed to Morrowinds ten distinct geographical areas.

Also, I want it to be set in the Summerset Isles, so I can be a Nord and show those stuck up high elves a thing or two about how axes beat magic.

well since fallout 3 was basically morrowind and listening to the lore in oblivion i'd hazard a guess that the game will play more like morrowind (in other words shops do not have infinite amounts of cash ect) and be set in elswyre (don't know how to spell it) black marsh and lleyawen ( can't spell that either)

Wait, isnt Fallout 3 the codename for Elder Scrolls 5? :S

But not counting that obvious rip-off, i'd say i would love to revisit Morrowind but with improved graphics and some tweaks to the gameplay, cause i really loved that game and i felt like Oblivion just wasnt up to snuff when it came to that certain "feeling" i got when playing Morrowind, but that's just a personal preference..

Plains? Check
Mountainous terrain? Check
Hills? Check
Light Forests? Check
Dense Forests? Check
Snow? Check
Marshes & Swamps? Check
Deserts? Fallout 3
Dive Rock? Adoring Fan

You just need to look a little harder to notice the difference in terrain.

Hopefully its not a MMORPG.
But I would like a system similar to the one used in Diablo.
