Wait, isnt Fallout 3 the codename for Elder Scrolls 5? :S

But not counting that obvious rip-off
It's hardly a rip-off when it's made by the same team.
The fact that Bethesda has made both of them doesnt really matter, you can still rip off your own work, as in re-use everything but just in another setting.

It's still lazy, it's still bad and it's still a rip-off, even though they created the original idea.
All that's the same is the game engine.

The combat mechanics, graphics, atmosphere, interface, levelling system, AI, quest structure, and entire overall feel are all completely different from Oblivion.

Every dev uses the same engine for a few games.

By your logic, Left 4 Dead is a rip-off of Half Life 2, and St Pepper's was a rip-off of Revolver.
Atmosphere and Quest structure, yeah, those are different, but as a gamer who's played both Oblivion and Fallout i can tell you how much it feels like a re-hashed version of Oblivion.

the look of the NPC's and the AI are the same, the graphics are the same (only it has a different setting; steampunk instead of fantasy).

The combat mechanics?, i only saw 1 new thing when it came to Fallout, and that was the V.A.T.S system, which was a good inclusion (though it lowered the difficulty alot), but still, that's pretty much the only thing they changed (again, except for the setting; steamguns instead of bows for example).

Please, dont take my comments as saying that Fallout 3 was a bad game, it wasnt, it was a really good game, that im not denying, i liked it alot, but alot of that is probably because of how much i enjoyed Oblivion, as they have re-used Alot of things from it.

So no, im not saying that Fallout 3 is a bad game, its great, only its originality is lacking.
Don't worry dude, I know you're not saying F3 is bad. We just disagree on how similar it is to Oblivion, which is fine!

What do I think it will be, provided that it isn't an MMO? Probably set in a province that we haven't seen much of in the recent TES games, such as: Hammerfell, Pkrym, High Rock, or a combination of two (or perhaps all) of them.

What would my ideal TES be? One which has all of Tamriel on display. Every province having its own major plot line to follow, in addition to a main plot that would send players on adventures all across the continent. Of course you would also have each of the various guild quest-lines (perhaps unique to each guild in each city). Go absolutely crazy! With a game like this, we could close the book on Tamriel. Perhaps some day in the future we could then find ourselves on one of the other continents.

[ Borderlands did it well: the arms dealer drops you off in his bus, there could be a million reasons (good, bad, happy, sad, whatever) you're on that bus.
You were on the bus because you wanted to find the vault.

That's what the hot chick in my head kept saying. But if I listened to every voice in my head....

What was I saying?

To me: my (Brick) character was there to look for a legendary type of steroid made from a certain cactus so he could take part in the new mutant football league wherein you have to be on roids to compete.
I'm happy to say he found his steroids but is now waiting for a call from Dr Zed who is looking for a replacement pair of testicles. I'm sure he'll find a couple. I gave him enough bodies.

And to stay on topic (sort of), I'm hoping TES-V ups the ante and includes even more weapons than borderlands: plus let us still mod/enchant them ourselves.

I reckon they need to have it back in morrowind before the disappearance of the dwarf so that way you get an extra species plus you should be able to choose to help Dagoth Ur and the creation of the 6th house or help out Nerevarine ageist the war of the blight :D

Here's an article detailing the MMORPG suspicions

http://www.vg247.com/2010/01/20/source-bethesdas-elder-scrolls-mmo-missed-its-2009-reveal/

Personally I like my normal offline ramblings in TES. This would disappoint me if it replaces TES5. Disappoint I say.

Ha, sounds like you play RPGs the same way I do... actually getting right into it doing the role play!

Of course; what else are the voices in my head going to discuss while I'm playing?

I think it will be a game by Bethesda. And will most likely have a title to do with an event or location. Also, there will probably be a new race or two and i'm guessing, by the amount of voice acting he has been doing recently, that the Emperor/King/High Profile Actor that gets killed will be done by Stephen Fry.

As long as they don't do it wrong, i'm sure it'll be a good game. However they will need to move away from the way that conversations are done in Oblivion/Fallout 3.
