I'd like to see one in Skyrim, and it's speculated the next one will be set there.
I'm a sucker for snowy areas, and it would be pretty.

you know what Gonzo, I'm with you. I'm one of the weirdo people who did the unspeakable... PLAYED OBLIVION IN THIRD PERSON MODE! so it was virtualy impossible to hit anything on a y-axis with ranged stuff. So i spent the game fighting up close and the only spells I ever used were touch-range(which is TOOOOOTALLY op, heh.) I also must admit that Oblivion freaked me out sometimes, I always kept looking behind me and dreading any time i heard the combat music. It could have used an Enemy detection system like FO3, or perhaps an even better one. Yet I played FO3 without batting an eyelash.GonzoGamer said:That's why I said it was a stupid idea. It did take me all of 3 seconds to think of it and I don't even think I would like my FATS (Fairy Assisted Targeting System) idea realized but Oblivion really needed something like VATS for ranged magic.iain62a said:Oh come on, it wasn't really flaming and it was a stupid idea. I'm sure the guys at Bethesda could come up with something better given a minute or two.
I think most people who played Oblivion would agree that the combat would've been better if it had a VATS-like system.
The fact that Bethesda has made both of them doesnt really matter, you can still rip off your own work, as in re-use everything but just in another setting.MiracleOfSound said:It's hardly a rip-off when it's made by the same team.Fronken said:Wait, isnt Fallout 3 the codename for Elder Scrolls 5? :S
But not counting that obvious rip-off
All that's the same is the game engine.Fronken said:The fact that Bethesda has made both of them doesnt really matter, you can still rip off your own work, as in re-use everything but just in another setting.MiracleOfSound said:It's hardly a rip-off when it's made by the same team.Fronken said:Wait, isnt Fallout 3 the codename for Elder Scrolls 5? :S

It's still lazy, it's still bad and it's still a rip-off, even though they created the original idea.
If there's one thing that Bethesda really needs to perfect is the third person perspective view; especially since it's always an option. When you zoom in enough (close enough you don't see your character moonwalking) it looks okay. You deserve a special achievement trophy for playing through that way.WillSimplyBe said:you know what Gonzo, I'm with you. I'm one of the weirdo people who did the unspeakable... I also would love VATS in TES because then I could actually use Range without it turning into an FPS(my second least favorite kind of game besides sports games...)
I would like TESV to be set in Elsewyr, a less "Country-side europe" landscape would be nice. And then I could hear more Khajit voices, which were one of my favorite things from TESIV.
Also a more progressive and subtle storyline! TESIV was basically "You are in Jail... it doesn't matter why, perhaps you did something bad. You are the paragon of justice you say? Well then it was a bad guard or... something, whatever! King needs your cell to escape, everyone dies and things turn to shit, and you have to close hell. Good luck."
Just my personal opinions. Please don't quote me to say how my ideas are horrible and I should feel horrible.
Dude, seriously? The post you're quoting is ancient.Shru1kan said:Of all the sources... Wikipedia? The open edit Behemoth? ROCK ON! F*CKING VIKINGS! YEAH!
I like Skyrim.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Elder_ScrollsIn late October 2008, shortly after the release of Fallout 3, Bethesda's Publishing Executive, Paul Oughton, indicated that the series' fifth installment could be released in 2010.[3] Zenimax, the owner of Bethesda Softworks, had trademarked the name "Skyrim" in 2006,[4] but its relation to the fifth installment of the series is uncertain.
Atmosphere and Quest structure, yeah, those are different, but as a gamer who's played both Oblivion and Fallout i can tell you how much it feels like a re-hashed version of Oblivion.MiracleOfSound said:All that's the same is the game engine.Fronken said:The fact that Bethesda has made both of them doesnt really matter, you can still rip off your own work, as in re-use everything but just in another setting.MiracleOfSound said:It's hardly a rip-off when it's made by the same team.Fronken said:Wait, isnt Fallout 3 the codename for Elder Scrolls 5? :S

The combat mechanics, graphics, atmosphere, interface, levelling system, AI, quest structure, and entire overall feel are all completely different from Oblivion.
Every dev uses the same engine for a few games.
By your logic, Left 4 Dead is a rip-off of Half Life 2, and St Pepper's was a rip-off of Revolver.
It's 200 hundred years. And the closest thing to firearms died with the dwemer. Also, why the fuck would you want guns when you can smite people by clapping your hands?Sneaklemming said:There was also a leak that said that Elder scrolls V would be set 300 years after Elder scrolls IV, so you never know, it may have firearms.

As far as I know, the rumours that there will be an MMO set in the Oblivion universe do not say that that MMO replaces TES5. If that would be the case however, I would be a very sad panda.Fappy said:Rumors point to it being an MMO... which saddens me greatly![]()
I plan on playing TOR and there is no way in hell I would ever play two MMOs at the same time. I would much rather Bethesda stick with their open-world one player RPGs anyway. In any event I think TES V will probably take place in either Skyyrm or Summerset Isles (sp?).Cowabungaa said:It will be awesome, that's what it will be.
*ahem*
Seriously now, I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm kind-of hoping it'll be set in one of the other continents, notably Akavir, the Dragon Land. It's where the Blades got their style from, so you can guess how the game will look. And just look at this stunning piece of concept art, apparently from somewhere in Akavir, my guess the Snake Empire:

Has potential for an extremely awesome setting, if you ask me.
