Wait what? I'm sure I read somewhere it was going to be an MMO.. or maybe that was a speculation.
Rumors only, and unfounded. From what I recall, they said they'd be thinking about an MMO, but it would not be TESV. Which I am thankful for. If it was an MMO, I wouldn't play, and then I'd have to wait another 5 years for the next one.
I think I remember that Bethesda reserved the name Elder Scrolls Online last year sometime.

They also put down some legal paperwork on the name 'Skyrim' a while back. Just because Bethesda does something before making an official announcement, doesn't mean that it's going to be the next game, you know? Besides, I'm not saying they won't make an MMO, I'm just saying that it won't be the official THIS IS TESV release that we're waiting on.

Taking a single player campaign game and making one of the storyline releases an MMO is in bad form, in my opinion. I like it as single player for a reason.

I agree. The MMO business is bloated enough at the moment, and I think its for the best if they don't spoil what they've already built up around the games.

This may have been posted before, but here's some clarification on the MMO business:

http://bethblog.com/index.php/2009/08/17/clarifying-about-next-elder-scrolls-game-mmo-etc/

Not to mention Todd Howard has said that the single player storyline is the most important aspect of the Elder Scrolls. I'm pretty sure he said the same thing once back when people were asking him if Oblivion would have multiplayer. I'll have to check my sources though.

Too true. Typically when I hear the phrase 'MMO' I run screaming in the other direction, mostly because I've played some of the bad ones. Now, if they made TES Online, I'd be curious. So very, very curious. I don't know if I'd actually play it, because that would mean interaction with the internet via a gaming platform, and I don't typically game well with others.

Thankfully, Bethesda seems to have a decent understanding of what would be good for their franchise and what wouldn't be... With the exception of that damn book, but that's besides the point.

This is my Idea.
I think Beth' should have the leveling system a hybrid of fallout 3 (but without perks) and oblivion/Morrowind:
Where you get general exp for killing, quests and finding locations ect. The general exp is what you use to level up.
when you level up, you only choose to level up atributes NOT skills.
Skills level up as they would in oblivion/morrowing by using the corrisponding weapon, magicka ect. but DONT count towards your level. although they do count towards how well you can use that skill.

wadda ya think?

Summerset Ilse would make an ideal location to have the next TES game. If it is going to be set in Summerset, then i hope there will be sload ^.^

Here's an idea for the fifth one. How about they make it fun rather than being completely bland and boring. No offense to those who like it, but I thought the action was completely boring. Not to mention that swinging a sword looked ridiculous.

Basically take everything they learned during the making of Fallout 3 and burn it....

I'd love to see it go back in a morrowind direction, the first thing I asked myself when I played oblivion was "why can't I find any medium armour" and "I must be able to find a spear in one of these shops"

I'm hoping that they finally fix stealth...It should be an alternative to combat at all difficulties, not just an opportunity to bushwack them to take off more health for the ensuing battle.

Since it's already been leaked that TES5 is in the works and an undisclosed MMO property is also in the works, one could infer things, but maybe not...

Not to shoot your brain-plane down, but I really don't there needs to be another Elder Scrolls.
The entirety of the narrative was brought to a crashing end in Oblivion. No more demon incursions... ever. The Daedra are out of any and all story arcs from then on, and the extended universe came together to one shiny Sean Bean tacular ending.

Multiplayer and the ability to explore the WHOLE world, not just a specific province, the game would probably be a bit bigger than Daggerfall. Provided Daggerfall gets shrunk down to, say, the size of Cyrodiil.

I'd like some thing that make it better than Oblivion

Better combat (something that would make it less clusterf***y and make escort missions less of a pain. perhaps something like Fallout 3's V.A.T.S.)

More varied environments (None of Oblivion's copy-pasted caves)

better voice acting (more voice actions would indeed fix that problem, with most people voiced by the same people, it gets dull easily.)

last, but not least, give it a better difficulty curve, something that would make fights more challenging.

but one thing from Oblivion I want keeped is the amount of quests, if Elder Scrolls V has the same amount of quests, I'll be busy, perhaps for years.
