I call for a "Lets wipe the board and start all over again" movement in gaming companies. I bet you Mario, Halo, Metal Gear, and Final Fantasy will all be sweep up in seconds, why? Because there is money to be made off all of them still.

Each Mario game is inventive and fun (Speaking of the main games, not the Mario Tennis's and the like). They all have built on the successes of the others and added new gameplay elements that make the newer games seem fresh and new, even if it is the same formula over and over. I'm playing Mario and Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story right now and loving it. That game is amazing. Perhaps Mario should stop trying to appear in everything that Nintendo does, but the last thing Nintendo should do is quit making excellent Mario games.

I respectfully disagree. They can get repetitive at times, but I find them very fun. I suppose it's just a matter of personal taste, though. And they keep making them because they make money for Nintendo, so why not?
CAPITALISM FTW! (Yes I see the irony, shut up)

You complain about story. In video games.

I laugh at you. Hahaha. Vidjamagames are about vidjamagamin', which Mario has down pat.

The end of you is now.
I don't like you despite your existence not affecting my life in any measurable way.
Therefore I think you should stop existing.

Well... What are you waiting for?

What's that? You say you like the fact that you exist? And you have friends and family who do too?
That doesn't matter, my opinion trumps all others.

[/example of how stupid this thread is]

Having not played Mario Galaxies, I would still have to say they should continue the series. I started out gaming with Super Mario Brothers, loved it through Mario Brothers 2 and 3, Mario Land 1/2, Super Mario World 1/2, Mario 64, Mario Sunshine. It's just a purely fun series, the rose colored glasses help but it has a consistent theme, gameplay and challenge. The series is a cornerstone of gaming, and even 17 years later you can still go back and enjoy Super Mario World. Besides, a console generation without a Mario game is like a day without sunshine.

Why? I personally think that they are good. super mario 64 was a gold bar of awesomeness (my first game) and even if sunshine wasn't that good it was at least an experiment to do something new with the series. and btw the only bad thing about galaxy was the fact that the bowser battles were repetitive.

Mario, Sonic, and Zelda like classic series always go through a "classic coke-new coke" strategy. the classic games were good, some just for their time, but still good nontheless. Then they make "new and improved" games which everyone hates, only to learn their lesson, and make new games based upon the older better games. Mario is going to drown us with another Galaxy before it goes back to something better. Sonic is now making a 2D game. Zelda will keep making games. They will NEVER die :)

Oh and when it comes to Mario I don't mind the whole princess getting kidnapped thing because I think she is doing it on purpose. I really do think she loves bowser, doesn't want everyone to know it, and at a time had several kids with him.

Mario = Jack of all trades, Master of FUCK ALL

If they stopped all the pathetic money spinners that make little kids go "OMW I WANTS THAT MUMMY" like Tennis, Soccer, Party... you know all the ones I mean. All the ones he does anything that involve anything BUT him having some adventure by himself.

I think they should stop with the spin offs. Just let me jump around and throw fireballs. Let him just be a platformer, and I will be happy.

Go play super mario sunshine.

It is win.
I liked sunshine, the graphics were really nice, and the gameplay wasn't so bad. The main problem is that it got boring after awhile, and the final boss fight was a joke in more then one way. Other then that it was a decent colorful game.

Dear escapist
Firstly the Escapist isn't one person. Unless we are the equivalent of the Matrix, and I highly doubt it, you don't adress it as a single person.

knight steel said:
mabye it's because i have never played the first mario games
I don't see how not playing 20 year old games can affect your opinion of games today, but continue.

knight steel said:
but i think the mario games should stop
When you own a multi-million dollar franchise and the most successful video-game series ever I'll allow you to stop it.

knight steel said:
Every one of them are boring and repetive,
Ignoring the grammar, I fail to see how anyone can find them boring. Sorry, but you can't. Looking at Galaxy, every single planet is completely different. Yes, they are repetitive, but in the way that every level has the goal of grabbing a star, not in a way that means all the levels are the same.

knight steel said:
they also always have a horrid story line-princess get captured go rescue her.
If you play Mario for story you're doing it wrong. Seriously.

knight steel said:
So my question to you is how come they keep making them
Again, when you own a multi-million dollar franchise, you can answer me that question.

knight steel said:
why do people alway's insist that there good games where there way more better and more original games out there that never get noticed.
Perhaps the reason they don't get noticed is because they're poor. Seriously, if it's good, people will find out. And the reason they insist they're good games is because, well, they are. And original? How is Super Mario Galaxy not original? As I've previously said every planet is different, and it's perhaps the most original game I've played in a long time.

knight steel said:
This also goes for sonic.
I think this is just about all I agree with you on this.

knight steel said:
Disscuss and enjoy
I have, and await your reply. That said, I've noticed that you never bother to return to any thread you've made, so I guess this was pointless. Oh well.

I think he is just making threads to try and get a big one, when that fails he just abandons them. It's kind of sad, especially if it's a topic I don't mind replying to.

I say, stop making remakes althogether. Perhaps a SEQUEL, with NO PRINCESS and NO BOWSER and INNOVATIVE CHARACTERS and of course FLYING PIGS.

Why? Nostalgia is a huge money maker, and that's why a big company makes games.
