The Earth will end when the sheer weight of ignorance and stupidity on the Internet gives every single bit of telecommunications equipment on Earth a gravity field of similar strength to Earth's. Suddenly, every single router, cable modem, transceiver, fibre and copper run sink into the Earth, ripping through the crust and causing the entire planet to implode. That's how we go out. In a blaze of stupid.

As stated earlier: one massive freak sneeze in every nuclear bunker around the world, which somehow launches all the missiles.
Or someone gets fed up with apocalypse threads and blows up the world themselves.
Almost, but not quite. All of the forum servers in the world will overload and burn out from the number of doomsday threads. It'll be like a snowball effect. The power surge will meltdown all the world's nuclear power plants and we'll all be plunged back into the stone age to die.

On the plus side, we shall all eat the ice cream in one big party, as it is the most perishable and precious of foods.
Curses.
I was so close to being right for once!
[sup]I was planning on being that someone...[/sup]
It's OK, we all get it wrong sometimes. Want some ice cream? We have Rocky Road!

OT: I wish not to think about this, for those who I have seen ponder this tend to go crazy and do not fare well in conversation.

I...I suppose so...wait a second...last time I took ice cream from a stranger, I woke up without half of my intestines, and I had to track them down before I died of septic shock!
That was not a fun day.
So I think I'll have to pass.

Another 'doomsday' thread. Seriously it's scary to think people who fantasize about everyone they ever knew, their families and those around them being murdered or succumbing to one of natures finer tricks and dying in agonising pain, can actually serve a purpose....
There's probably some mathmatical formula you could think up in relation to these things; 'When the number of these made per day reaches a certain mark, then humanity will end itself out of sheer fucking unoriginality and boredom.. but not before pricking lazily at their wrists with a blunt toothpick'.

My on topic answer? Remember the ways of the forgiving searchbar, find inner peace, have a good life and if it all goes to pot when Mr Zskdajdasdha from Zog arrives wanting to build Highway 85 through the moon, tell me what can you do?

The end of the world, Earth, itself will probably be in 2 billion years when it explodes violently, as celestial bodies are prone to do.
That's only if they're big enough to do so. The Earth will probably just freeze while orbiting the white dwarf that Sol will become.

It won't be the end of the "world". It'll be the end of human kind.
My bet is on nuclear holocaust or disease.

The universe won't even notice.

You're right, I made a mistake. I meant to say that the sun would blow up (one can always hope, right?) thus decimating Earth to the face. Not that earth would explode.

the world will end by the sun it is forever growing larger and will eventually explode all stars do it, but humanity will end when the a meteorite collides with earth happened to dinosaurs and it will happen to us

Mostly Right on the sun, more than likely wrong on the meteorite. Unless its something the size of that ice chunk that hit Jupiter recently.

The Sun won't grow forever, it'll grow for a while then implode in upon itself once it can no longer create enough outward pressure to counterbalance the inward pull of gravity.

I'm not a doomsday believer. I don't believe the world will end in 2012 "but" it is an interesting thing to think about. The end of civilized man as we know it, how will it happen? I believe these three scenarios are the most likely.

1). Nuculer war
2). Sickness or biological war fair.
3). Resource exaustion via over population

Either way I think we will destroy ouselves in the end. What do you think?
The sun will expand as it nears the end of its life and will first bake the Earth then entirely consume it.

Otherwise there is nothing that will end life on Earth, I'm also convinced that Human life won't end short of a Gamma Ray Burst from a Super Nova. Anything else won't be enough to completely exterminate Human Life.

personally i believe that the world wide population has its highs and low. we will get to a high point followed by a massive collapse then a slow rise back to preivous glory. Humans are to good to be beaten without something special like a meteor/basalt trap event.

That sounds about right. Eventually, the sun is going to turn into a red giant and push the Earth to a farther orbit before going nova. That would certainly be destructive, but it's far more likely that we'd already be dead. If anything, maybe the Earth will be set adrift when the sun collapses into a dwarf star...though I'm not familiar enough with astronomy to guess (the Earth might still continue to orbit).
