I view things from the chars perspective. whats the safest way to protect you valuable things? keep them away from the the harm, locked away until its safe to show them again. so yes the vortex was necessary in the characters view and would've made the most sense to have happen.
I'm sorry to pull this out of my bum, but I'm going to have the dragon have the gift of tongues. I've heard plenty of stories about dragons being able to do that, and it's mainly for simplicity's sake anyways. Besides, I'm certain a 10,000 year old dragon could have a few languages under her (metaphorical) belt anyway. If anyone wants to contest me, feel free.
- Earlier that day, after the announcement -
Caim couldn't understand a lick of what just happened when Akasumi spoke. At least, that's who the dragon told him was speaking. "Who's Akasumi, and what did she say? I don't speak... Whatever language that was."
The dragoness chuckled, "Japanese, Caim. A language not often spread among the lands you are familiar with. Regardless, the girl stated that she was a 'Snake Princess' of some kind. The masses cheer in her name. I believe that they think she is a messiah of some kind. Fools one and all, those humans. She states that she will bring the Japanese Empire upwards, like a rising phoenix from the ashes. Insult to the phoenix really."
Caim laughed, as best as a mute could manage, and said to the dragoness, "So, it's an Empire they are running?"
The dragoness nodded.
Caim held his sword upwards. "Nothing good ever came from Empires... Wanna help me wreak it? Or, at least, slow it's progress?"
The dragoness smirked, "I knew you were going to say that. And yes, let's. I remember that girl stirred trouble before. I'd hate to let her walk so freely again...
- To the night of the previously posted fight -
Caim and the dragoness were doing a silent night flight, watching to see where Akasumi was staying while in the castle. The dragon's keen eyes noticed movement to a specific room. She couldn't tell that it was Kazuya walking into the quarters, but she was able to detect the energy of the Ten Tailed Demon. "There's the minx! We strike now! Prepare yourself, Caim. There will surely be archers ready to knock us down."
Caim nodded with an excited smirk and gave the dragon a conciliatory pat before she began her assault. Fire rang downwards, like fury from the heavens, as a poet would later put it. It struck the building with a heavy blow, and the roof began to erupt flame. The dragoness smiled at her work, and was ready to continue. She was in her domain. Only God, or a being of equivalent power, could aid that castle now.
just seemed a bit too Deux Ex Machina-ey from my POV, that and I never did get Anime...
Kazuya burst though the Door of the Royal Chambers and saw the Two Akasumis and the Royal Family.
He saw right though their tricks and shouted "you think of me as an idiot!?, if you could get here before me, you would had helped them escape!, SO WHERE ARE THE REAL ONES?!!"
He got into a combat stance again.
Duly noted. Regardless, there is a fraking dragon bombarding the castle with fire. I expect some kind of damage to NPCs or plot movement. Isn't this the capital?
Akasumi was about to speak, but was silenced by the roar of a dragon. "If you want to live, you stop this foolish act now and stop the dragon." she said as the building shuddered. flames had began to lick at the windows of the bedroom.
Kazuya took the chance to reach behind his foot and pull out a small firework.
He lit it up and threw it into the air, where it blew up.
At that moment, loads of Ninja's appeared around Kazuya. "HEED MY WORDS, ROYAL'S, THE TEMPLE OF THE LORD GOD RUGAL STALL MARK YOUR END!!" He shouted as the ninja's crowded around him.
They all then set off smoke bombs and disappeared, taking Kazuya with them.
Caim and the dragoness were having an amazing time. The dragoness was doing well to dodge the annoying arrows flying at her, and doing even better to keep shooting fire at the building. Caim let out a few whooping calls of joy, albeit mentally, and kept goading the dragoness to do more. She followed along happily, and soon, most of the palace was in flames.
I thought that Akasumi said that she was going to bring Japan to glory. I apologize for being wrong about that. But from what I understand, they did celebrate this 'Snake Princess' lady reverently, and that this action was all taking place rather quickly. Fire was a nasty thing in feudal Japan...
Red blinked, confused at how everyone managed to vanish in the twwenty seconds he had been previously confused, "Well then... I guess we can go to that town over there and harass the locals for quests!"
I'm completely lost. Some one help me out D:.
You've seen Red fight lots of times! There was that SkyNoah thing. Then there was the one in Dillon's castle and mind. And stuff...
It's hours after where you last left off.
The Heroes are in the Local Empire's Castle after a failed attempt to kill it's king by Rugal's new army.
Now Cain and Red are blowing it to hell
Akasumi and the twin felt the building shudder once more as another fire ball shook the building. They raced out to the courtyard and looked up to see red. "Gather the chakra needed." Akasumi said to the blossom. the younger on nodded and began meditating.
Akasumi meanwhile, did hand signs. "Fire style: Flame dragon jutsu!" and out of the fire on the palace rose a flame dragon that bolted straight for Red and Caim.
I gave a fair warning that I was going to do what I did. No one tried to stop me. Besides, it's plot.
The dragoness laughed at the sight of the newly made flame dragon. A dragon's fire does not betray it's wielder! Fools, you humans are; and fools you will remain!"
She weaved and ducked against the new opponent, firing shots at the building wherever possible. She had to admit, it was almost pointless to fight her own fire. She could feel her magical energies building up with each successive hit upon the castle. Caim however, wasn't doing as well as the dragon. It was getting intensely hot for him, especially given the amount of metal he was wont to wear. He was almost begging the dragon to get out of the situation. She however, wanted to release her deathblow before properly retreating. She could out manuever the being, but she didn't want to hurt Caim anymore. "Almost.... Caim, please hang on!"
Akasumi let the beast disperse. Around her and the twin, ground began to erode into sand. it formed up into a perfect sphere like in the cave, encasing them in it.
When the flame-being disappeared, the dragoness decided that perhaps her attack could be used later; and decided to leave. Caim's life was not worth it. They had done enough damage for one night, and she was not comfortable with the amount of pain she was sensing from Caim. "This isn't over, 'Snake Princess'! You will pay for the damages done to this human, mark my words!" she called over her shoulder.
Yes, it was hypocritical, but the dragoness didn't care. Caim was what mattered at the moment. She flew for a short time, and landed in a different clearing. After waiting for Caim to get off, she asked him about his condition.
Caim gave a small pat on the dragon's side; "I'll be fine, dragon. Just... Let me rest for a few moments. Good job on the fight, by the way."
The dragoness nodded, and let Caim rest against her flank. She was going to stay stalwart in the night. Who knows what would come of their assault.
Okies, Thanksgiving things to attend to! Have fun guys!
The sphere suddenly burst and sand flew out in tendril, each one smothering fire. The palace had sustained a decent amount of damage. The royal family was dumped out of the vortex and escorted by imperial soldiers out of the area. The twins, one more mature looking and the younger looking one, were sitting there catching their breaths.
The smoke drifted high above the clouds and RM put two and two together. Everyone must be there! And where people are, quests exist! Red hopped back on one foot and then leaned forward, using his auxiliary arms to push off from the ground in a great leap toward the city.
From the air he could see three kunoichi in a broken castle courtyard and quite a few ronin gathered around the flames.
"What in heaven's name has happened..." Red grumbled, continuing to observe the destruction and devastation. Then he suddenly realized he couldn't stop falling.
-----
The twins suddenly felt a great disturbance in the air around them. Like something was inflicting much greater air pressure on the region, as if something were fall-
"Modified Physical Art! Dynamic Entry!"
The sisters screamed and moved quickly, just scraping away from Red's impact site. Moving quickly toward the crater, they discovered the strange European man unconscious, buried in both dirt and bits of tree.
Tomoya knew what was happening and jumped out of a near by window and muttered "Damn it", to himself as he smashed through the window and fell just before the fire threw itself out of the window, Tomoya grew his wings and decided to fly to the top of the palace.
In 1623 (Chillz says that's the date) Kyoto was actually the capital city of Japan. Just thought you should know.
Youmu had watched the fight at the castle from a distance, then started running towards it as soon as the strange 'arms' appeared and put out the fires. Along with the royals, she saw Akasumi clearly helping them, and several soldiers who tried to hold her back. "What happened here?" she asked. "Everything seems to have burned..."
Akasumi clearly saw how naive Youmu was, and changed the story slightly. "A dragon attacked," she said matter-of-factly. "Its rider must have been trying to kill the royals. I did everything I could to keep them off, but..." She motioned back to the slightly-burned palace. "I might need more help if they try and come back."
"You want to help the emperor?" Youmu confirmed. "Then I suppose you're not a bad person after all...I might be able to help, some."
Youmu actually is that naive, that she thinks Akasumi isn't a bad person. If you want to gain a possible ally (until she finds she's on the opposite side to Tomoya and has a breakdown from the confusion), you could do that. Or you could refuse, and keep her untainted. I can work with either option.
Severin tracked down Akasumi and yelled, "Hey!" She turned to face him.
"It is of the highest need I speak to the Royal Family, and in the midst of all this current carnage, you guys have no idea what kind of fucking shit is going to hit the fan in the coming weeks," Severin said, making his way to her from across a courtyard.
"What does that saying, 'Shit hit the fan' mean?" a soldier asked another. The second shrugged his shoulders.
"So, Snake Princess, where are they?" Severin asked, his new arm gleaming in the night.
