I came here many years ago for the gaming news and funny videos. Those things haven't changed (except there are more funny videos now). I later discovered the nice forums where issues could be discussed and questions answered. This was cool. Then they added badges, which where fun and addictive to get. Later they added user groups which have really changed how I use the site and how I interact with the community. The publishers club has given me greater access to The Escapist while I'm not at home through podcasts and mobile videos.
About repeat threads. It's true. The sheer number of people here makes it inevitable. Even this thread has been done to death over the years.
Therefore I announce I am NOT leaving the Escapist, but instead embracing it more fully through the forums and user groups of which I'm a part, and will continue to support the growth of the Escapist beyond "that place with Zero Punctuation" as it used to be. I plan to get my landmark badge (only a few months now!) and whatever comes after that.
