Ok, now that the tournament is over, I've opened the tournament servers back up and restructured things a little. We now have the following servers available:
alpha.tf2.escapistmagazine.com:13013 [steam://connect/alpha.tf2.escapistmagazine.com:13013]
beta.tf2.escapistmagazine.com:14014 [steam://connect/beta.tf2.escapistmagazine.com:14014]
uk.tf2.escapistmagazine.com:13013 [steam://connect/uk.tf2.escapistmagazine.com:13013]
Alpha and Beta are both located in Chicago. I have a second server available there (was running Gamma and Delta for tournament), but in an effort to keep people playing together, I'm going to wait until Alpha is regularly full before adding more.
The UK server is obviously in the UK for all of our Escapists across the pond. I still have a relatively decent connection to it from here in North Carolina, so hopefully it has a slightly better connection for some of our users.
Server configuration:
Alpha and UK are set up with Valve's full non arena map list currently:
cp_granary
pl_hoodoo_final
cp_dustbowl
cp_junction_final
ctf_well
cp_egypt_final
plr_pipeline
cp_badlands
ctf_turbine
cp_steel
pl_goldrush
cp_well
cp_fastlane
pl_badwater
cp_gravelpit
Alltalk and crits are on. This server is for fun, and if you really want to isolate voice, feel free to use our mumble server (At mumble.escapistmagazine.com [http://mumble.sf.net/])
As we get regular users, we'll tweak things a bit more in map cycle and things like shortening the rounds on (ugh) 2fort.
Beta is running Valve's arena maps:
arena_nucleus
arena_well
arena_sawmill
arena_badlands
arena_lumberyard
arena_granary
arena_watchtower
arena_ravine
Crits and Alltalk are OFF for the arena maps. It's more competitive gameplay, so it makes sense.
All the maps have sourcemod with a fairly basic setup at this time. If anyone has good ideas for plugins, I'm open to suggestions. I may set up a test server on gamma/delta for new maps/plugins/etc down the line once we have the people playing to support it.
Also, Rock the Vote is enabled on all the servers, which lets the players call for a map vote. To do so, just type
rtv in chat, and if 60% of the people playing vote for a new map, the server will immediately switch.
We should have a more appropriate location for this post soon, but I'm leaving the thread in the tournament forum for now.
If you're looking for players and there are none on the servers, you will probably be able to find some in the Escapist IRC channel [/chat] (irc.escapistmagazine.com #escapist [irc://irc.escapistmagazine.com:6667/escapist]). Come say hi!
