This is that European ignorance I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure Australia is where the worst English criminals were sent.

My Australian pride prevents me from letting this go uncorrected.
People have been deported here for stealing hankerchiefs. It was more a convenient alternative to Britain's overcrowded prison system; the actual severity of the crime had very little to do with whether or not you were sent here. Granted, some of the "worst criminals" very well may have been sent here, but I assure you that it would have been entirely coincidental.
On the other hand, if stealing a hankerchief is punishable by deportment to the other side of the world, no wonder the British prisons were full to bursting.

You said worst. I was merely correcting that. We have hanky-thieves sent here, "worst" isn't accurate in the slightest.

Totally irrelevant to the discussion at hand. We were discussing whether or not the settlers were English criminals, which they were.

Believe it or not I play for Staffordshire Stallions, we play Nottingham on Sunday =] But considering, as I have said way way back in the early beginnings of this thread, I've only just joined so I doubt I'll get any play time =]

Churchill wasn't in power until the "phoney" war ended.
And also I think you'll find the reparations were going to all allies including you Americans and the amount was cut by half after 2 years and eventually dropped completely. Also Germany are still paying you back for loans they took out to pay for reparations.
Also if you remembered your history properly it was France who were pushing for the harshest reparations agreement possible.

So they expect it. Wheres the fun in that?

The U.S. tried doing the spongtanious pranks but they just got pissed and sued the people running the show. Some Americans have such a huge ego and no sense of humor.

Another thing, is fast food commercials. I was sick with the stomach flu one wednesday, and all that was on were hardee's and outback steakhouse commercials. TV sucks without the commercials anyway.

Other countries have gotten over reality TV and im glad. Their mature. I really hope the US stops soon

I once was a year in america (in Los Angeles to be precise) and I didn't enjoyed it.

Your standards for a good house are way lower then in europe and you have to be 21 to legally drink beer. That's ridiculous. Also the beer is not good.

Shouldn't have went to LA it sucks there you should go somewhere nice like anywhere in the south!

The part that makes no sense about this system is that these two states are literally one on top of the other, and in the same area of the US, the Southeast an area everyone would be wise to avoid like a plague. I think American society goes a great lengths to do stuff like this just for the sheer purpose of not making sense.

Don't forget--sparkling wine from any other region than Champagne is not Champagne. It's not just a U.S. thing.

Really? I had no idea. Though I must admit, champagnes and wines aren't really my forte when it comes to alcohols, I have a few favorite wines, but other than that my knowledge of them is pretty much nonexistent.

Staffs are a good outfit actually, had one of my best games while playing against them in the 2004 season. We beat them at home 7-6. Good times.

I'd give you some advice about the Outlaws but its a whole different outfit from my playing days. Not one coach the same. They don't even give their rookies nick names any more by all accounts. What is the world comming to?

yeah i dont even have a nickname yet =[ then again i've been out for about a week with a knackard quad. Too much running after the QB before he can get a trhow in.....usually ending in a fail but still!

I was watching last years game against the outlaws and watching their O line, apparently they've got some proper big guys this year which should make a damn good game out of it. GO STALLIONS!

Sure they are. A Glasgow Celtic and a Glasgow Rangers fan may live in the same city, but they very well might consider themselves to be 'from' different places.

People don't always interpret the question "where are you from" as "where do you live." They figure if you wanted to know where they live, you'd ask "where do you live." From=asking about ancestry. Live=where your reside.

I agree, When i used to live in Nottingham and people would ask me 'Where i was from' i would say Yorkshire. Yorkshire is where i grew up so its where i'm from. However at the time where i lived was Nottingham so when asked 'where do you live' i would say Nottingham. Its also the reason people will say 'All over' when they have lived in many different places during their childhood when asked 'where are you from'.

I do agree that its irksome when Americans claim their 'Irish' or 'Italian' or whatever when they have little or no connection to the place other than Family ancestry. My families ancestry is French (or so i'm told) yet i wouldn't consider myself French. I'm English (i might say i'm of French and Dutch decent when pushed but i'm defiantly English first)
