Ulrin watched Sulahn'nehn leave, his expression grim. She was truly not well. Despite her victory over the mage, they'd lost something precious. It was no wonder she seemed lost to her own words. The elf took a seat and picked up a cloth to bandage his own wounds.

Even though Alrik was not speaking to him, Ulrin interrupted before the other man could speak, "Sulahn'nehn will not use such magic to bring back anyone. That's not her way... And its not what Ghil would have wanted."

"Fuck what she wants!"

Diocles launched the bottle angrily, letting it shatter against the ship's interior. He pulled himself up, approaching the others unsteadily.

"We'll make her do it. Ghil might be too far gone.. I hope not, but she might be. But Thaedrin is a blood mage, and Somniari. A Dreamer. He can survive in the Fade, and the minds of others.."

"The storm and currents ought to drag her towards Salle. Though she's more likely to get caught up in something or animals will get at..."

The realization dawned on him at just how grim that conversation had become, drinking was affecting his judgement. "...I think you get the idea." And he fell silent, only half understanding what the other there were going on about. He didn't even flinch when the bottle went sailing, it was hardly the worst reaction he'd ever seen.

"What's all this about demons and such?!? Dead is dead lads, just drink up an' remember them."

"Salle. Well, good if we find corpse. Due for good luck." Alrik shrugged. "Used to think dead was dead, but tell that to Diocles."

He looked thoughtful. "Hard to force her, when we not know how ritual work. Can't know she do it right. And girl is no Thaedrin; who know what demons she let through?"

"Anyone see which raider kill Thaedrin?" He added casually.

A shout and a shattering bottle stopped her at the threshold. She had been listening, being stuck on a boat with people who might disapprove of Thaedrin?s murder did not bring her any peace.

Blood magic.

This is who I fought to protect? This is who I risked everything for? Bastard!
Sulahn?nehn was filled with a mix of emotions: sadness, regret, anger. This man could not have cared for her the way she cared for him if he could say something like this. To make matters worse, it caused Pride to swell.

He wounds us.

She turned on her heel and marched back to the archer and spat at his feet. ?You disgust me! I have done so much for you and you would force my hand??

Ulrin stood up after the bottle was thrown and as Sulahn'nehn approached the table. "You will do no such thing! None of you will force that upon anyone!" He glared at the archer. "You do not know what hell we went through last time to bring your miserable hide back into this world! We will not do it again! It nearly killed us all! We only survived because of Sulahn'nehn! You and Theadrin only made it back because the demons that crushed the rest of us were crushed by her hand!!" He shoved the man back from her. "What would we do now if you forced her! We would all die! And then what, Diocles!? All for some filthy blighter!"

No.."

Diocles stumbled backwards, glaring at Ulrin. His hands went to his sides, hovering around his weapons.

"He has done so much more than any of you.. For me, and this world."

His kukri was out in a flash as he flicked his wrist, spinning it into the air-But for once he missed the catch and it fell to the floor uselessly.

Ulrin watched him take out his knife. The elf reached for his own ready to fight. When Diocles dropped his, Ulrin smirked and sneered at him. He moved forward and kicked the knife away, sending it sliding across the floor. "He has done nothing for anyone! He came to the Warden's for glory! Not to save the world! And he got was he deserved!" The elf raised his dagger to the human still glaring and started to take a step back trying to move Sulahn'nehn with him to leave the galley. "You stay back, Diocles! Come on, my sister. We're not staying."

He pulled out his second knife and tightened his grip around his weapons. "All of you stay back, unless you want to join that bastard in the Fade!"

Jarrik had been sitting back, not knowing half the context as to what they were scuffling about, but enough was enough.

"You lads put those down before you hurt yourselves, or I make you." He tried to make it sound imposing despite the slight drunken slur. "You think you been doing your friends Ghil an' Thaedrin any well service fightin' like a bunch of children? 'spawn are all over the empire, killing, and you all squabble about. If you want to behave like children then I'll bloody well treat you like em."

"Ulrin, put those daggers up an' you take the lass to go cool down elsewhere. Diocles, sit your ass down."

Sulahn'nehn looked startled. Fumble or not, he'd pulled his weapon out on them. Everything. She had lost everything. "You have no idea what he has done. You have not seen what I have."

Disappointed as she was, she was still glad that Ulrin made no move to actually attack the archer. She didn't wish him dead. At least Jarrik had some sense to him. The elf backed away with Ulrin with her eyes lingering on Diocles.

Ulrin glared at Jarrik, he did not put his weapons away but he did lower them. He did not trust anyone present enough to put them away. "We will leave." He continued to back up, ushering the female elf to keep moving. "That much I can agree upon."

He turned his gaze back to Diocles, "And you will stay away from us. And away from her." He turned around once he felt it was safe to do so. Ulrin sheathed on knife and put his hand on Sulahn'nehn's shoulder to continue to move her. He kept his other knife out, but had dropped his hand to his side. The elf continued to glare at them, never taking his eyes off of them until they were out the galley door.

"Come, we will stay in your room until we reach land. And then," he shook his head, "We will discuss it later. For now let's just get somewhere safe."

And there--amazingly, unbelievably--was Thaedrin, standing in the corridor beyond the view of those gathered in the mess, but all too true and real to the two elves.

His flesh was ashen, one eye discolored a milky white; his wounds, a dozen of them, bled no longer but gaped much like the pits in his palms. His hair and clothes clung wetly to him, soaked through in rainwater and blood. His eyes, sunken and bruised, traveled slowly over the elves, with the indifference one would expect from a corpse. He regarded Ulrin for a time before moving his gaze to Sulahn'nehn and pausing there. When he spoke, his voice was barely a rasp or a whisper: a tongue and lips, but the breath he needed to create sound was inhibited by the number of holes in his lungs.

"It was you."

"Safe?" She chuckled grimly. "There is no 'safe' here, Ulrin. Do you really think I will make it to lan-"

When you're right, you're right. The color drained from her face, it wasn't possible for the blood mage to be standing let alone speaking. What ever gave it the ability to move and speak, she knew it would come for her. In a panic, the elf swung her hand and shot a spell directly at the corpse's face and to her horror, it did nothing.

Not about to let the elves leave that easily, Diocles stumbled after them, intending to lecture. His words caught in his throat when he saw what they did.

"... Thaedrin?!"

Diocles' eyes went wide. The rage and despair vanished, but neither did he show cheer or horror. It was simply incomprehension.

"I-It cannot be-!" Ulrin nearly stumbled over Sulahn'nehn at the sight of the man. He was alive! But that was impossible. No one had healed him. No one had torn the Fade open to save him. And here he was before them, staring at them with a ghastly expression.

He wanted to move to run, to take the girl's hand and flee, or to try and stab at the man again, but before he could move Sulahn'neh shot off a spell. Ulrin flinched, expecting it to hit everyone in her way, but instead it only struck the talking corpse. And it still stood.

He raised his knife again shouting, "Get away from us! Get back, whatever you are! Get back!"

The Constable's body took a step forward, through the remnants of the spell the elf girl had cast. It disregarded Ulrin, and answered Diocles without ever taking its eyes off of Sulahn'nehn.

"Thaedrin? No. ...And yes. The one called Thaedrin Davinius was murdered. Not very far from here at all, he says." It took another step towards her, and another. "He told me who was to blame for this body's death."

Ulrin put his arm out in front of Sulahn'nehn as 'Theadrin' took a step forward. "I-its a demon! He's been possessed by a demon! Dicoles! Don't just stand there! Help us! We- we have to kill it!" He did not stop brandishing his knife as the body moved closer.

"Damn you get back!" He pushed the female elf away, "Run! Get away!!"

Her eyes went wide. Something had been sent from the Fade and it was going to extract revenge. A friend dead, a partner lost, and the bastard still stood before her. Sulahn'nehn did not have a lot of options. Running meant going straight to the corpse and even if she got passed it there was just the sea. To turn back meant facing Alrik and Diocles whom she assumed from the way he'd treated Thaedrin's death would spill her blood in turn. She went limp, ready to face her fate.

Pride, however, had a different idea. "We will not loose our hold on this world!"

"He told you.. He's in there?"

Diocles glanced at the elves. He couldn't understand their reactions. He almost permitted himself a smile. Thaedrin was still with them.

"..Who's to blame, then?"

Its hand lashed out to grasp the elf girl's throat and smother out the protests of the Pride demon. For a moment, the eyes lit up with fury, indignant, the way Thaedrin's once had. As quickly as the flash of emotion came, it was replaced by blankness. The corpse's brows lifted, likely less an expression of surprise or interest than an attempt to discover how this face worked.

"Are you certain? If this hand ends her, your Master will not be pleased." It was speaking to itself in hushed tones, head tilted idly though the force of his grip did not lessen, "Yes. I feel them inside her. There are two."

It turned, then, speaking to Diocles, "What is the standard punishment for a murderer of mortals? Perhaps if she dies, I could summon an ally for the Cause."
