"Don't hurt her!"

Diocles almost couldn't believe how painful it was to watch this. Thaedrin and Sulahn'nehn. He couldn't be forced to pick one of their lives. And how could Sul..

"Lath.. How could you do this?"

He had thought he had expended his last tears on the subject, but he was being proven wrong.

Ulrin looked on in horror, "What, what are you doing to her!" He looked at Sulahn'nehn, what did it mean by two? Sulahn'nehn was possessed as well. He looked to Diocles, expression furious. "Don't! Don't you dare put her death! She has done nothing wrong!"

Sulahn'nehn's hands grasped at the arm that held her up. Where Pride had gone, she didn't know. At least for now she was herself. If she was going to die, at least she could do it as herself.

Lath. How could he still call her that, she didn't understand. He should be driving a knife into her back. Couldn't he just make it easy for her to go? "You-...did it for you- for her...-safe from him."

"That doesn't.. No!"

Diocles rubbed his hand over his head, trying to gather his thoughts. He had to solve this peacefully. Like he should have done for Ghil.

"Spirit! Release her. She's to be allowed a chance to defend herself-If guilt is a given, mith-mitigating factors might exist. And identify yourself!"

Ulrin nodded at the archer and then at Sulahn'nehn. He watched her struggle in the thing's grip. Even if it let her go, they still might put her to death. But what else could he do right now other than watch.

When it dropped her, it was immediate; it turned to face the others more fully.

"This one has no name, only the body of Thaedrin Davinius. I am a spirit, earning mortal flesh by contract. He has great fidelity to his Cause. It resonates with my aura." It eyed Sulahn'nehn for a moment before looking away, towards the wall. "I am sworn to complete his quest."

Diocles eyed Thaedrin carefully, mulling over his words before speaking.

"Which quest? The end of the Blight?"

Ulrin ignored the spirit. He moved over to Sulahn'nehn reaching out for her. He put his hand on her back and did his best to be comforting. "Thank the Creators, I thought that it was going to take your life."

Sulahn'nehn fell to the floor and barely picked herself up. She gulped down air and massaged her throat, staring at the corpse cautiously. So Thaedrin was dead and a spirit did his bidding, if that was the case, why was she still breathing. She was not ungrateful to still be among the living, but she couldn't make sense of it. A murderess and known to be possessed.

"...Why didn't you..."

"The death of the Archdemon. Yes, correct. Once that occurs, this body will fully belong to me. That was our agreement." The corpse glanced toward the stairs, then to the doorway the others had just left, "The winds have changed. Have you altered the course of this vessel?"

We shall see about that.

"No, navigation is the Captain's duty. Unless you mean metaphorical winds. In which case, we'll get to it. Sul is powerful. You'll spare her, she will fight darkspawn. Whatever is in her might not. Thaedrin can help with that. May I speak with him?"

During the confrontation between Ulrin and Diocles, Alrik was seconds away from burying his axe in Ulrin's skull. Then a corpse arrived.

There was a time when a reanimated cadaver would have driven Alrik nearly mad with fear and confusion, but that time was long in the past. He watched calmly to see what it had to say.

Having done a good deal of listening, how he finally stepped forward.

"Were going to return to Weisshaupt. Lost nearly half of party. With you back, maybe reconsider. Trajan Vorenus will make final decision if you remain Constable, but for now, will allow it so long as Thaedrin in there somewhere. Later we talk, I confirm this."

"Oh," he added, "And penalty for murdering superior officer is execution, of course. Can think of no reason for exception."

"No!" Ulrin shouted at the barbarian, he had already been shouting at him earlier, he felt no reason stop. Even if Alrik was much larger and stronger than he. "You can't execute her! She did it for her own protection!" He pointed at the body of Theadrin, "That man was a danger to her! To us! She was protecting herself! Or at least she felt she had to!"

"I can think of plenty! Number one being possession"

Diocles snapped harshly at Alrik, murder in his eyes. He turned back to the abomination, licking his lips as he thought.

"A body does not make decisions. If it was a demon, it was not her crime. Besides, justice is secondary to fighting the Blight."

"Yes, yes that's right..." Ulrin nodded, though not really agreeing with Diocles because he felt he was right, but becuase he'd take any reason to keep Theadrin's pet from harming Sulahn'nehn. "It was the things inside her. You cannot kill her because of them. And if you did, then we'd be short two members again."

Of course.

She did not know how to convince them otherwise. She knew Alrik would be firm, Ulrin's word would have no weight, Ghil was gone and Diocles she was still confused about. Her heart rate shot up for a few seconds, before being brought back down by her less violent demon. "Ulrin, calm yourself." Sulahn'nehn still rubbed at her throat, "You waste your breath on him. He will not listen to pleas, reasons, anything. Why would he?"

She was shocked. The man who just a few minutes ago had been verbally at her throat was defending her. "I-" she bowed her head, "There is nowhere for me to go. I remain at your mercy."

"Be silent."

The spirit held up a hand for calm, to quiet the room.

"You each speak so brashly to your Master. This large man, I have been told, is above you. Treat him with respect." It turned its attention to Alrik, nodding slowly, "The others are correct, however. This one's body contains two powerful demons within. Though killing her body will destroy their link to this world, if she is to be of any use, she may be permitted to live. If she is to repent, she must be permitted to live. Will she perhaps submit to being detained?"

It paused for a long moment, listening inwardly, "Death, if not. There is still the matter of the demon she ought to have rid herself of weeks ago, after all."

"I-I will." She blurted quickly. There wasn't much thinking needed on that part. She did feel terrible that her actions, guided as they were, resulted in such ugly things. But she had no real desire to die, if there was a chance she did not have to walk into death she would of course choose the other.

Dumbstruck, Jarrik had said little. Other than mumbling various curses and prayers in Rivaini dialect. His mind was stuck in a loop of not knowing which was crazier: the fact that a bloody corpse was walking and talking or how quickly these blighted wardens had accepted it. Sure, they seemed plenty surprised at first, but now they were having a conversation with that... thing?

He sat, listening and musing, trying to puzzle out what was going on - something about the elven girl being a murderer.

Ulrin frowned at the thing. Being told to obey Alrik rubbed him the wrong way. The barbarian was barely able to think for himself, unless given and order from one of the mages,he usually didn't do much of anything. Superior or not, he'd rather have to follow orders from Diocles. However, for now he would keep that to himself.

The elf again rubbed the girl's back, his expression concerned. they had already lost Ghil, he did not want to lose her too. He did promise her his aid. For now she was allowed to live, that spirit may even be able to help with removing her demons. But once the Blight was over what would happen to her? Ulrin would have to make sure she survived. That they both did.
