So there's been Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. I think we all see the trend here, the obvious trend (I know) that all the game's maps are part of the world of Tamriel. But what game next? What map to be used next? After all maps have been used also (If the game somehow manages that many series) What will happen? Maybe a game that combines all maps and you may explore all areas in one huge game? I was just wondering on your opinions of the future of the Elder scrolls series.
Look up Tamriel for the full map.
In my opinion I think it will be Black Marsh. No reason, just a hunch.

They did that in Arena. It would be pretty awesome with more up to date graphics though.
Honestly, I'm still happy with Skyrim and will be for many years.

I would personally love either Hammerfell or Elsweyr simply because I have always been attracted to the desert and eastern cultures. Perhaps the next game could combine both Valenwood and Elsweyr together in one, since they are both moderate in size compared to Cyrodil and Skyrim, and they share borders and it would offer some good variety (dense woodlands/forests in Valenwood, dense jungle in southern Elsweyr and open arid desert in the north). Not to mention the history they have, including war (read the book 'Mixed Unit Tactics' for info) and occupation by the Thalmor.

Experiencing Khajiit culture first-hand would be nice too. Alternatively, with Hammerfell, you could add in a serious pirate setting into the Elder Scrolls universe, which would be cool. Though Risen 2 is already doing that, so who knows.

Anything but Black Marsh really.

As much I as would like to revisit Morrowind the Volcano ruined it somewhat. I hope we will be crushing the Aldmeri Dominion and slaughtering Thalmor.

Hammerfell along with High Rock was in Daggerfall, however I wouldn't be entirely opposed to seeing it in a new engine. Personally I would love either Elsweyr or Black Marsh as these are more unique to the Elder Scrolls lore than Cyrodil, Skyrim, Hammerfell etc which are really human provinces with a twist. I still have a soft spot for Morrowind so seing a bit of that along with Black Marsh would be cool. It might even convince me to play an Argonian!

I think a Valenwood and Elsywr game would be pretty good. Under the Aldmeri Dominon but really where the main action of any new war might take place. Thick rainforests, woodlands and arid badlands, tree tops villages and every shifting Khajit caraven tent cities.

Summerset Isle would be interesting as a counterpoint to Morrowind. Hammerfell and Black Marsh could be interesting but limited in their terrain, desert and marsh respectively.

Personally, and this is after playing Oblivion and Skyrim and loving them both, if the next game is set in Black Marsh or Elswyr, I won't buy it. The order of experience in games for me has always had aesthetics first, gameplay second, and story third. Please note that better graphics don't automatically make for better aesthetics. Halo CE won me over with it's incredible visuals and design despite having, in many cases, derivative gameplay and story. Alan Wake had very good aesthetics, and passable gameplay, but the story was more than good enough to tip the scales for it. Games like Morrowind, WoW, Red Dead Redemption, any and all Fallouts or the upcoming Serious Sam game all have such bland, unappealing, or ugly settings and/or designs. Even if I find the gameplay for any of them to be the most fun in the world, or any of the stories brings tears to my eyes with its glory, I wouldn't be able to play them. Because they look awful. Plain and simple. I don't like deserts, I don't like wastelands, I don't like junkyards, and I HATE swamps. The point of all this being, I'm wondering if anyone else is affected by settings like I am.

Valenwood is right out too, forget jungles man.

After all the areas have been used, that should be it. They could create a new world with a bunch of different regions.

All the areas have been used, ever since the first game. You could go anywhere in Arena. In fact, I was in Valenwood just yesterday.

For the next game I'd like to return to Hammerfell. Like someone said above, it has a really cool Middle Eastern vibe. Then again, it's already been in 3 Elder Scrolls games (4 if you count the mobile games) so Bethesda might shy away from it.

I think that the only way that Bethesda is ever going to tap into their real creative consciousness is to visit another realm of oblivion. Morrowind had some of the most interesting and engrossing places, people, and cultures to visit. Talking to NPCs was like reading one of the greatest fantasy books ever written. Oblivion was pretty normal, but the expansion pack The Shivering Isles, brought a lot of the true wit and creativity that The Elder Scrolls has to offer, and was a pleasure to explore. Skyrim doesn't really have any of that wierdness to it, they don't even feature the Skald and the culture just didn't have much of vibe to it, it was mostly bad scandinavian accents.
This leads me to believe that the only way Bethesda will ever get their groove back is to visit another daedric realm. Those daedric princes are the last cool thing about the elder scrolls, ever since they took out the warring houses of Vvardenfell, the many competing guilds, and the idea of man becoming a divine. Perhaps the Orcs could use some love, they have a rather sordid history, and their own daedric prince.

I want to see Akaviri quite desperately. None of the games have actually shown the land, though its influence has been quite clear in the games. I want to see those that live in it, witness the flora and fauna.

Lest we forget, Tamriel is merely one continent on the planet of Nirn. And Nirn is only one planet in the realm of Mundus. If we're worried about them running out of places to go, I don't think their reserves have been completely tapped yet.

Well, Black Marsh just sounds very boring to me. A great percentage of Black Marsh is encompassed by marshland and waterways, neither of which sound all too appealing. Dark, brooding woods would be cool, for awhile, but would evidently get boring very quickly. A threeway split between Valenwood, Elsweyr and Black Marsh would be nice, and add some great variety, but I think it'd be too much of a stretch for Bethesda to have a game world of that size with today's technology, and Black Marsh as a stand alone game, well I don't think it'd be as fun as it sounds on paper.

I say Hammerfell is next, sure its been in Arena and Daggerfall, but they were too big to have much detail, and sure theres Redguard but apparently thats universally hated. Also if they do Hammerfell they can look at the Dwarves a bit more seeing as it was their homeland (I know it wasnt but apparently there were a buttload there)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to tell you that your opinion is wrong or anything, but... why do you find jungles boring?

I would love to explore a world that looked like that, especially if Bethesda tossed in some ridiculously colorful plants while they were at it. Plus, Valenwood is a jungle with FLOATING TREES. If that isn't visually interesting, what is?

I have to agree with you on the desert thing, though. Mountains are the only way they could spice up the desert plains while keeping it a desert, and you can only do so much with brown mountains.

Personally, I think a game where it is set in the entirety of a Tamriel would be an amazing setting. They did it well with Arena, and with this current tech, it would be one of the best games out there.

THIS! so much this. Completely new map, and the possibility of new playable races.
